Manager Alan Pardew has hinted that West Ham are close to agreeing a new one-year deal for striker Teddy Sheringham.
The former England player was in inspirational form at Wigan on Saturday, scoring the equaliser in the Hammers' 2-1 victory on his 39th birthday.
Pardew said: "Teddy is a major asset for us, and we have him within our grasp for next season.
"But we cannot afford to worry about that now. There's still plenty to do this season.
"There's a vital game at Burnley on Tuesday night, and that's what we're all concentrating on."
