Andy Nelder - Head Coach
Andy has been coaching in Oxford since September 1997 and is in his second season as OUWBC Head Coach.
His involvement in The Boat Races began in Autumn 2001, when he was appointed as Head Coach of the Oxford University Lightweight Rowing Club, until 2006. During his tenure the club won the lightweight Boat Race all 5 years, a club record that still stands. Andy then moved to become the Assistant Coach at the OUBC where he worked with Sean Bowden for 11 years, winning the Isis v Goldie race 9 times, including 7 successive victories from 2011-2017.
Support Team
Medical Team
OUWBC has a comprehensive medical team working with them throughout the year. This team works hard to try and prevent injury and illness and to promote the idea of ‘the healthy athlete’. Where injury does occur there is an excellent network of professionals on hand to ensure rapid and complete recovery.
The medical team includes physiotherapists, doctors, nutritionists and sports massage therapists.
