Military judge frees Navy SEAL in advance of murder trial

Special Operations Chief Edward Gallagher was freed from base confinement in San Diego on Thursday, less than two weeks before his murder trial is scheduled to start. He is charged with murdering a wounded ISIS fighter in his custody and shooting two unarmed civilians in Iraq in 2017. The unexpected move to release him drew gasps in a San Diego courtroom after Gallagher's lawyers presented evidence to get the case dismissed because of prosecutorial misconduct. The judge has not ruled yet on whether to throw out the case or remove prosecutors for launching an unusual effort to track emails sent to defense lawyers and a journalist to find the source of news leaks in the politically charged case. That hearing will continue on Friday.

Trump plans 5% tariff on Mexican imports over illegal...

President Donald Trump has vowed to impose a five percent tariff on all goods from Mexico - and claims he will only stop it when 'illegal migrants' stop crossing the border into the U.S. Trump tweeted news of the tariff on Thursday in a bid to try and stem the surge of migrants crossing illegally across the southern border.  The tariffs will start at 5 percent on June 10 before jumping to 10 percent on July 1, 15 percent on August 1, 20 percent on September 1 and go up to 25 percent on October 1 unless Mexico takes steps to stop the surge.

In her affidavit filed June 20, 2017, Dulos wrote: 'I am afraid of my husband. I know that filing for divorce and filing this motion will enrage him.' Ever since the filing, the estranged couple have been locked in bitter proceedings for the past two years. Dulos, 50, is currently missing and was last seen on Friday morning when she dropped her children off at school.

A huge shark was spotted circling an oblivious woman who was swimming at a Florida beach. Stan Battles was vacationing at Panama City Beach when he saw the shark swimming in sea grass from the 28th-floor of a condo. In the video, the woman is seen enjoying the water when the shark swims out of the sea grass. The shark is then seen swimming just a few feet away from the woman before beachgoers are heard shouting: 'Shark! Shark!' As the people on shore yell to alert the woman of danger, the shark turns directly in her path. Once the woman realizes what the people are saying, she starts to swim in the opposite direction toward the shore. In that heart-stopping moment, the shark continues to swim directly behind her until she makes a turn.

What a silly ass: Miniature donkey rescued after falling into a septic tank

Firefighters were called to a Morayfield property on Thursday night, after its panicked owners called to say their donkey had tumbled into the concrete tank and was wedged firmly inside. Officers faced a sticky and stinky situation and had to think hard about how to haul the animal out without hurting it. After pumping the tank dry, they used a large tripod to support slings that were carefully slipped around the donkey's belly.

And, clearly oblivious to the species of this 'snapping turtle', as she leaned in the creature exploded up towards her and tried to nip at her face. Fascinated by the animal, the girl rushes over to it with her camera and excitedly cries: 'oh look, it's a big old tortoise!'. But it is actually a common snapping turtle which are native to southeastern Canada and are notoriously fierce.

Man grew his beard two-and-a-half feet long and enters competitions

Lance Wooton, 32, from London, Kentucky decided to grow a beard in 2014. He wanted to dress up as a pirate for Halloween, which required a beard. Lance was later contacted online about entering a beard contest. Five years later, his beard has grown and he has entered more than 30 contests. He confessed to getting weird remarks about his beard, but he has no intention to shave or trim the facial hair.
