Rose McGowan showcases her quirky style sense in a kooky little black dress at the Global Gift Gala in Paris

She's never been one to blend into the background.

And Rose McGowan ensured all eyes would be on her as she attended the Global Gift Gala 2019 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Paris, France on Monday.

The actress, 45, who was honoured at the event for her humanitarian work, stunned a black slip dress that was layered underneath an elegantly knitted tunic.

Rose's magnificent garment featured a scooping back and off-the-shoulder neckline which she paired with flat black brogues.

The #MeToo activist slicked her platinum bob off her face in a sleek do and added  a pop of colour to her evening look by applying a slick of pillar box red lipstick to her pout.

Following the red carpet event, the star took to Instagram to thank the charity for honouring her work.

Alongside a snap of herself, she penned: 'thank you for honoring my humanitarian work @globalgiftfoundation I do not do what I do for awards, but I accept this recognition on behalf of all who’ve gone before me.

'I am an advocate for a more conscious humanity. I aid the voiceless, it is in their honor I accept this award. #Activism #RoseArmy #ConsciousEvolution we are awesome.'

Rose is one of many stars to show their support as an acting ambassador of the Global Gift Foundation - a charity that works to raise funds for foundations, charities and organisations that share its vision and aims.

Meanwhile, in April, during an interview with journalist Sam Baker as part of Dublin's National Concert Hall's Words+Ideas series, Rose doubled down on her harsh view of Hollywood.

'Hollywood was a pile of sexist bull****,' she told the audience, according to the Irish Times.

She went on to talk about some of her experiences that supported her opinion.

The Irish Times reported that she spoke about a casting note she got for an audition for an Adam Sandler movie in which it was suggested she show up wearing a push-up bra and leggings.

She also recalled posing for a 2007 Rolling Stone cover wearing nothing but a belt of bullets.

At the end of the evening, McGowan, was given a standing ovation.

She told the audience, according to the Irish Times: 'It’s been a hard couple of years.... There were some times in the last year and a half that I didn’t feel like I was going to survive it, to tell you the truth. But I’m here and I’m with you and I’m happy.'

McGowan was one of the first women to publicly accuse disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct when she alleged he raped her.

And in a recent interview with Psychologies magazine she blamed the 'cult-like mentality' of Hollywood.

'It's all people talk about and they adhere to these illusory rules that were made up to appease studio heads years ago,' she said. 'People buy into it and I've written about demystifying the illusions that you're sold.'

She went on: 'Being on the outside is a healthier place to be but I'm still finding my footing. It feels like a new era, which is both scary and thrilling - I get to live my life for me now.'

Furry friends: In March, McGowan shared that it was her dogs who 'saved her life' during her time in Hollywood and that she's in 'a healthier place' now that she is 'outside' Tinseltown

The Jawbreaker star spoke about enjoying the 'simple' things in life such as reading, traveling and being around animals.

'Dogs make me happy too. I'd say the dogs I had when I was in Hollywood saved my life,' McGowan explained.

As for 'ruffling feathers' or being outspoken, she has no qualms about her forthrightness.

'I don't see the harm in telling the truth... To others it's scary but I guess that's what being brave is all about,' she said.

'It makes people uncomfortable but I think it's OK to be uncomfortable for a bit. It doesn't mean you're that way forever,' she added. 'If you're wearing a bra that's too tight, you take it off and you're comfortable again.'
