COVID-19 Notice

Following an announcement from the Government, we can confirm that we are categorised as essential key workers and therefore are continuing to operate as normal but are following the Government guidelines closely and monitoring all updates on a regular basis.

During this time, although not advisable it is understandable that non-disposable items are being flushed into the system and therefore it may be wise to carry out high-pressure water jetting to ensure your drains are free-flowing and a CCTV camera inspection to see if the system can cope with the abuse as I am sure we all agree that the last thing needed is an overflowing toilet.

Our Services

Here are a few of our drainage services in London. We provide a variety of options to cater for all drain needs.

Why you may need our drainage services

✓ 120+ Years Combined Experience
✓ 500+ Five-Star Reviews on Google, Checkatrade and Trustpilot
✓ 45,000+ CCTV Drain Surveys
✓ 150,000+ Drain Repairs
✓ 15 Local Councils Services

With many crews on the road, we carry out a wide range of services for a variety of reasons on a weekly basis. Our survey technicians are prepared to investigate the cause of a number of problems that have made themselves known such as foul smells, cracks in the building, ground movement or vermin infestation and this is usually
a sign of defects that have deteriorated over time. If left further, damage to the drains can have huge implications, i.e. unsanitary/unhygienic conditions, risk of flooding and failure to clear away human waste, possible subsidence and ground movement, etc. and therefore we advise any concerns are looked into.

Just as often we are instructed to obtain information pertinent to Build Over Agreements if planning an extension or ascertain the condition of the drainage system prior to buying a property as well as regular monitoring following an insurance claim.

Once any issues have been identified, whether by us or another drainage contractor, our repair specialists are able to attend to return the system to a watertight condition or make any adjustments for Building Regulations to be met. This department is also able to install any new drainage you may need for a new project or
implement preventative measures for peace of mind.

Our cleaning and maintenance department are also in high demand to either clear blockages when they start to overflow or working to a regular schedule to avoid this happening.

Regardless of the reason, we are always happy to help in any way we can so please do not hesitate to contact us if you are in need of a National Association of Drainage Contractors (NADC) approved specialist.

What Drainsmart Customers Say

"This was an urgent short notice request to complete and report on a CCTV drain survey in connection with a property purchase in Wimbledon following on from a Building Surveyor's recommendation. Drainsmart could not have been more understanding and helpful throughout. They fitted the survey at short notice, completed it with minimal disruption for the current property owner and sent me a high quality (and - important for a lay person - readily digestible) report on the same day which enabled us to exchange contracts the following week. We will now do the work recommended."

J.G., Drain Survey London

★★★★★

"Excellent service all the way from the initial survey, report to the final repair and final communication. Was recommended Drainsmart by the RICS surveyors who did my Home Buyers report. Price was exactly that what was quoted and they completed within the time they said was necessary. Overall very happy with the repair and level of service. Would definitely recommend to anyone buying a house/flat and needs a drainage survey or any repair work done."

A.W., Drain Repair London

★★★★★

"I had a structural survey done on a 1930s property I want to purchase which recommended a drain survey due to cracking in the walls. I called Danielle and she got the survey done the next day. The report was done to a high standard and was easy to understand. Danielle was so helpful with my follow up questions and even sorted me out a specialist insurer (due to the cracking and on advice of my solicitor I told insurers about the structural survey and no one would insure me)! Would not hesitate to recommend this firm."

Frequently asked questions

Do Drainsmart provide drain cleaning services?

If so, how long does a blockage clearance or high pressure water jetting take? Unfortunately we cannot put a time frame on this as it is all dependant on the level and type of deposits found. A standard domestic blockage can usually be cleared within one hour but we cannot guarantee this and will not be able to know until we have the jetting hoses in the system and start moving the deposits. Find out more about this here.

I require drain repairing, can you help? How much do repairs cost?

As each drainage system and the extent of damage which dictates the schedule of remedial works is completely different, this could drastically vary. Once we have carried out a CCTV camera inspection, we will provide you with a quotation for the remedial works but until further information has been obtained we will not provide a ball park figure. Learn more about drain repairs.

Who do Drainsmart provide drainage services in London for?

We work with numerous professional trades on a regular basis as well as schools, local councils and other authorities. See more on our Area pages.

Are your computerised drawings to scale?

Our drawings are not to scale and are for indicative purposes only however we can superimpose the drainage layout onto supplied architect GA plans for more accurate reading. Dependant on the access available, it is not always possible to determine the route or configuration of the drainage system and an assumption may be made based on our findings but this can be confirmed with electronic sonde tracing.

Do you provide the depth of the pipework?

The survey does not include invert levels back to a datum but we will provide you with the invert depth of each chamber in millimetres which you could add to your levelling survey.

How long do your repair works take to complete?

Again, this is dependant on the level of damage that was discovered and the remedial works that are instructed which could vary from a couple of hours to a couple of weeks. Where possible, we will try to send multiple crews specialising in different aspects of the trade to try to keep time on site to a minimum but this is not always practical.

Can you work on Thames Water sewers?

Following the “Transfer of Sewers” Act in 2011, private contractors are not permitted to work on any Local Water Authority’s drains without their full permission, excluding CCTV surveys. It is common for these assets to run through your property and even if you are willing to pay for the necessary repairs, any contractor found to carry out work to these sections will be heavily fined and therefore we will not proceed without confirmation of their written consent.

What are CCTV Drain Surveys?

A CCTV Drain Survey or CCTV Camera Inspection involves a small portable camera unit being inserted into the drainage system which allows us to see inside the underground pipework and report on our findings. There are many reasons for investigations
and we tailor our reports to each individual property. Find out more about CCTV Drain Surveys.
