Our actions

Since it was founded, L’OCCITANE en Provence has supported initiatives to help others and protect the environment. In 2018, based on these solid foundations, L'OCCITANE decided to define six key areas of actions: Respecting Biodiversity, Supporting Producers, Reducing Waste, Empowering Women, Caring for Sight and Celebrating Craftsmanship. Three of them totally match the L'OCCITANE Foundation's commitments, thus allowing the entire L'OCCITANE community to put a greater highlight on them!

The L’OCCITANE Foundation’s priority is to protect people's eyesight by funding screening, eye care, training and scientific research. It is also committed to promoting female leadership in Burkina Faso by supporting women with entrepreneurial projects and helping with their emancipation. Finally, the Foundation supports initiatives that aim to conserve biodiversity.

L'OCCITANE Foundation's origins

L’OCCITANE founder Olivier Baussan has always been passionate about the relationship between man and nature, as well as about know-how and traditions. As a result, since its creation in 1976, L’OCCITANE has been committed to protecting nature and the people who surround it. This commitment has taken tangible form: adding braille to most L’OCCITANE product packaging to make it accessible to those with a visual impairment, developing long-term and fair partnerships with female shea butter producers in Burkina Faso, and protecting iconic Provence species such as lavender and almond trees. Because of this belief, the L’OCCITANE Foundation was created in 2006 and the former has guided its work ever since.
