The EFL’s aspiration is to welcome back supporters in full from the start of the 2021/22 season and the League is working hard with Clubs toward that goal.

Ahead of the final weekend of the regular EFL season, the EFL and Clubs remind supporters of the continued need to adhere to Government guidelines around social distancing. It is crucial that fans do not gather at stadia, an action which could be detrimental to the collective efforts of EFL Clubs as we seek a full return of supporters in August.

The latest Government Guidelines can be read here:

We understand the various permutations of this weekend have the potential to bring a mixture of varying emotions and we would like to thank you for the patience you have shown in staying away from stadia to this point.

COVID-19 remains a threat to public health and for the benefit of players, officials and staff within Clubs we ask supporters to remain patient this weekend and look forward to August with optimism and confidence that there will be fans inside stadia.

To ensure you don’t miss a minute of the action, all EFL matches are available to view from home, with matches being made available through coverage on Sky Sports or iFollow (or Club equivalent) streaming services.

EFL’s Security and Operations Advisor, Bob Eastwood, said: “It is vitally important that supporters continue to adhere to Government guidelines still in place to keep everybody safe.

“The pandemic isn’t over, and the continued relaxation of current restrictions will only take place with the support of all involved – any disruption or gathering of crowds will not help to that objective.

“The EFL and its Clubs have stringent protocols in place and are committed to doing our bit to keep the nation safe. Discussions continue with Government, local authorities and Public Health England as we seek a full return of fans at the earliest opportunity, but only when it is safe to do so.”
