Assange extradition: US allowed to challenge key psychiatric evidence in bid to reverse UK refusal to hand him over

The High Court in London has allowed the US to challenge a psychiatric evaluation of Julian Assange, which was key in an earlier court ruling refusing Washington’s request to extradite him for trial.

Wednesday’s appeal proceeding is the latest development in the continuing effort by the US to extradite Assange to stand trial on American soil for alleged computer-related crimes.

A British judge refused the request in January on humanitarian grounds, ruling that there was a high risk of Assange taking his own life if she agreed to his extradition. Testimonies by psychiatrist Michael Kopelman about the poor state of the Australian’s mental health were crucial in the case.

The US was allowed to challenge the ruling of the District Court on three points and wanted to pursue two further arguments. One of their extra lines of attack, which was granted by Lord Justice Tim Holroyde, was to seek the dismissal of Kopelman’s testimonies, due to the fact that he initially concealed Assange’s relationship with Stella Moris and the fact that they had two children together.

Clair Dobbin, who represents the US side, argued that the professor had misled the court and that his opinion about Assange’s state of mind should have been dismissed by Judge Vanessa Baraitser.

The name of Assange’s partner was not public at the time of Kopelman’s initial testimony, but it became known before the ruling was passed. The expert witness for the defense did report Assange’s fatherhood, and said when pressured by the US side during the extradition hearings that he didn’t disclose Moris’ identity out of respect for her privacy. Judge Baraitser decided when rejecting the extradition request that although Kopelman did mislead the court, he didn’t fail in his role as an impartial witness.

Edward Fitzgerald, who represents Assange, argued against the challenge, saying concern for family safety was natural in his situation. He recalled that a Spanish private security firm hired to spy on Assange allegedly snatched a diaper from his baby son to test his DNA and identify the child’s parents. The baby boy was regularly brought by an associate of Assange to visit him at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where he was staying for seven years to avoid extradition proceedings. The firm is suspected to have worked on behalf of the US government, and its alleged activities were cited extensively before Judge Baraitser.

CDC Forced To "Adjust" Sunday's Florida "Record" COVID Count Lower By Almost 50% After State Health Department Cries Foul On Data

The CDC has been forced to "adjust" its Covid-19 case tracker for Florida after the state's health department took to Twitter earlier this week to call out incorrect data.

As of Tuesday, the CDC "was working with the state’s health department" to get the data right, according to a report from Fox News.

Florida's health department called out the incorrect CDC information publicly, stating earlier this week: "Wrong again. The number of cases @CDCgov released for Florida today is incorrect. They combined MULTIPLE days into one. We anticipate CDC will correct the record."

The CDC had reported 28,317 new Covid cases on Sunday, but had "adjusted" the number to 19,584 cases by Tuesday, the report says. Florida's health department claimed that there were 15,319 cases on Sunday a number that is almost 50% lower than the CDC's originally reported number.

"On Tuesday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported the state has surpassed 20,000 for its 7-day average of new cases, a day after the federal agency misreported numbers given by the Florida Department of Health by combining data from the last three days into two," Fox reported on Wednesday, after first pointing out the data discrepancy earlier in the week.

Florida's hospitalizations were up by more than 1,110 to 14,787 on Tuesday.

Recall, earlier this week we noted that Governor Ron DeSantis was threatening to withhold salaries from school officials who defied his mask mandate ban.

According to a statement issued by DeSantis' office - just days after his threat to cut funding resulted in a 'pause' on a proposed mask mandate in Broward County - one potential consequence for defiant school officials would be a loss of income.

“With respect to enforcing any financial consequences for noncompliance of state law regarding these rules and ultimately the rights of parents to make decisions about their children’s education and health care decisions, it would be the goal of the State Board of Education to narrowly tailor any financial consequences to the offense committed. For example, the State Board of Education could move to withhold the salary of the district superintendent or school board members, as a narrowly tailored means to address the decision-makers who led to the violation of law," reads the statement.

Senate PASSES Anti-CRT Bill in Razor Thin Vote; Dems Now on Record Supporting the Marxist Propaganda

In a late night vote on Tuesday, the US Senate passed an amendment that prohibits federal funds from going to pre-K programs and K-12 schools that teach critical race theory. Every single Democrat, except one – West Virginia senator Joe Manchin – voted against the legislation, which passed 50-49.

The measure was sponsored by Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton, who has been one of the leaders in the fight against the anti-American propaganda for over a year. Its passage effectively bans CRT from being taught in schools until after 12th grade, when students are free to pay for the indoctrination themselves.

Cotton released a statement on his amendment:

“Our future depends on raising a generation of kids who love America and love each other as fellow citizens, no matter their race. But Critical Race Theory teaches that our country is irredeemably racist, that ‘equality’ is a sham, and that true justice requires treating everyone differently—based on the color of their skin. Our tax dollars should never support indoctrinating the youngest Americans with such poison.”

Earlier in the day, his office published an explainer document that lists examples of CRT being taught in schools and talks about how the materials encourage the teachers to treat kids differently based on their skin color. The one pager also re-affirms that taxpayers will not fund the marxist doctrine.

Crashed out last night shortly before CM was meant to go on, reviewing the video at 3x now, currently about -5 hours in the video. Looks like there are 2 magnet links for "server images" and they contain a single zip file each (red flag, you do not know about what you are downloading, common attack vector for malware) and they are using common trackers. I saw the exact same magnet links at least a day ago in my rotation (either here, or half, or the wins) and dismissed them as they were using common trackers. Both provided trackers are not connecting, so despite all the build-up and seeding, the files are not available for download. Also in the video it seems that they just got these files and are fumbling over analyzing them, contradicting the build up for torrents. I suspect that the planned torrents were pcaps or something else and they are pivoting with these new images, these assumptions are based on best faith, pure logic without bias dictates more threat than revelation. Newbs still stay away from the torrent situation.
