Marvel specifically discussed Iron Fist with Gosling.

Finn Jones somewhere if this were true:

[–]Kingpin1232 Daredevil 128 points129 points  (6 children)

Ryan Gosling would definitely capture Danny’s personality well. He’s also a better actor, but I don’t know if he’d want to play Danny Rand. He’d probably push for a big name character.

[–]pinkminerva 69 points70 points  (2 children)

He’d probably push for a big name character.

Not necessarily. A lot of A-list actors in the MCU played obscure comic characters. And Moon Knight wasn't that well-known, but Oscar Isaac liked that the show was a "character study" and that the character gave him a lot to chew on as an actor, plus he got to work with Ethan Hawke- point is it's all about the circumstances. Since according to this post, Ryan Gosling wants to star in something martial-arts related, what better role than Iron Fist?

[–]Kingpin1232 Daredevil 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well yeah I could be wrong about that. I just thought he’d go for something like Ghost Rider or something. However I’d definitely take Gosling as Danny Rand over Finn Jones. That character needs a fresh start.

[–]Chemistryset8 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Please, it's Danny Rand, the immortal Iron Fist, protector of Kun Lun, sworn enemy of the hand.

[–]cred_twos 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think he cares more about being able to make the type of movie he enjoys. Iron Fist would be a good vehicle for an “Only God Forgives” type cinematic experience and that’s probably what he’s wanting to get into.

[–]whitneyahn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Finn Jones did a good job of playing the character as written, it's just that the character as written had a combination of traits that came off annoying.

[–]Tornado31619 Ms. Marvel 61 points62 points  (6 children)

Hijacking this top comment to ask: mods, one of you mentioned the other day that Daredevil’s canonicity is definitively clarified in Echo. Care to elaborate?

[–]capt45 Daredevil 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I second this need for elaboration

[–]undergroundpolarbear Moon Knight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

*cough* johann *cough*

[–]crounsa810 41 points42 points  (4 children)

I don’t much care if Finn Jones is replaced with Gosling, but Jessica Henwick better be back. That’s non-negotiable.

[–]cbekel3618 Green Goblin 35 points36 points  (3 children)

Henwick was up for a role in Shang-Chi and in interviews, seems to vibe pretty well with Simu, so I think there’s a solid chance she might return

[–]ThrownAwayintoLF 31 points32 points  (2 children)

And don’t forget she turned that role down to keep to possibility of returning as Colleen Wing wide open.

[–]SpuzzLovely Darcy and the Duck 10 points11 points  (1 child)

She turned it down to accept Matrix 4

[–]Joshdabozz Howard the Duck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It was both. Both were reasons

[–]pinkminerva 30 points31 points  (2 children)

Ryan Gosling is an upgrade, I fear 🤷 no matter how much people tell me "Finn was good in that one Luke Cage episode!"...in truth he was just okay and barely anything stellar, even there. Anyways I'm just going to trust Marvel Studios' casting and Sarah Halley Finn to put whoever actor they think is best for Danny Rand

[–]TheJack0fDiamonds The Scarlet Witch 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Which is sad. With better writing and production overall, Finn Jones would do so well. If everyone is returning and getting second chances, he should too. Maybe Finn himself isn’t interested in returning? Who knows.

[–]grimmyzootron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just want Colleen wing (Jessica henwick) to come back as iron fist

[–]justambrose 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope they would at least bring Jessica Henwick back as Colleen. She was perfect.

[–]Patrick2701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am fine with that

[–]rangeghost 168 points169 points  (31 children)

At the time of the discussions, Sony held the rights to Jessica Drew while Marvel held the rights to Julia Carpenter, a different version of the Spider-Woman character

This part isn't accurate to what we know from the leaked 2011 agreement, which stated that Marvel and Sony each had shared partial rights to Drew. Whereas Carpenter was listed among those Sony had rights to.

[–]Tornado31619 Ms. Marvel 81 points82 points  (10 children)

Yeah, I’m calling BS on Marvel ever owning Carpenter. What would their claim to her be? Fisk and Drew there at least exist legit arguments for (hence them being shared), but there are other characters Sony own who are way more relevant to the wider Marvel universe. Sable, Morbius, Norman…

Unfortunately, I feel like it brings the whole report into disrepute.

[–]Creedysleep Spider-Man 35 points36 points  (4 children)

The only thing that's probably true about that report is Kraven for Black Panther because Coogler openly talked about wanting him for his first movie. But he ended up going with Killmonger because he wasn't allowed to use Kraven.

[–]Tornado31619 Ms. Marvel 23 points24 points  (0 children)

So the one true part of the report is something that had already been explicitly told to us. Lol, is their source Greatphase?

[–]SuperCoenBros Valkyrie 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m calling BS on Marvel ever owning Carpenter. What would their claim to her be?

Julia joined the Avengers in the early 90s; a few years later, Marvel sold off all their film rights. It's possible when Marvel put together the rights packages, they left a specific carve out for Julia to appear in Avengers films. It would've been the same situation as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.

But I have no idea why Sony wouldn't also own the rights to her. Maybe because she debuted in Secret Wars? Still feels weird.

[–]ghostgnome Punisher 20 points21 points  (17 children)

Yeah, IIRC Marvel has the rights to Jessica Drew and her backstory while Sony has the rights to Spider-Woman.

[–]charlesfluidsmith 5 points6 points  (2 children)

That's not quite accurate. Of the email is to be believed, and the rights haven't changed, Sony has rights to all aspects of Jessica Drew, while Marvel can only use the Drew character out of costume.

[–]KravenHunter6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I’m saying

[–]ProgressiveThinkerUS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. The mods just had to look at the leaked doc to know this is BS.

[–]newaccountoldwashack Luis 116 points117 points  (4 children)

Kraven in black panther could’ve been cool

[–]treathugger 15 points16 points  (2 children)

I wonder how he would have been used.

[–]DaGOATWayneEllington 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Maybe he would have been Ulysses Klaue character. Wear a vest, knows the ins and outs of Africa (Kraven, from his hunts)

[–]HearTheEkko Green Goblin 23 points24 points  (0 children)

One thing's for sure, his weaponry was definitely gonna be from Wakanda and that's probably what would've given him the "edge" against Black Panther and Spider-Man just like they gave Vulture a laser weapon and Mysterio an army of weaponized drones.

[–]Loukoumakias Phil Coulson 106 points107 points  (3 children)

The Disney / Sony stories are always the most interesting to read in my opinion.

[–]Tornado31619 Ms. Marvel 59 points60 points  (2 children)

Unfortunately, the incorrect claim that Marvel once owned Carpenter makes me doubt this one.

[–]Ajannaka 102 points103 points  (8 children)

If Marvel could save Anson Mount’s Black Bolt they can definitely save Finn Jones’s Danny Rand 😭

[–]TheJack0fDiamonds The Scarlet Witch 44 points45 points  (0 children)

This! I’m in the minority but I liked Finn Jones as Danny. That show was unfortunate for so many reasons but it got me sitting back thinking damn how awesome would he be if this was done by Feige and Co.

[–]Courier23 30 points31 points  (2 children)

It’s crazy because they already did such a good job with Danny in season 2 of Luke Cage, sure it was brief. But that part was so good.

[–]Ajannaka 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Exactly, all they need to do is hire a writer who understands Danny’s character.

[–]jessepitcherband 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And a producer/showrunner who’ll let him get training before the production.

[–]CollarOrdinary4284 16 points17 points  (0 children)

They didn't really "save" Black Bolt though. They brought him back for a cameo and blew his head off.

[–]Educational-Band8308 65 points66 points  (15 children)

Heavily doubt Miles wouldn’t be one of the characters Marvel would want to negotiate for, since he’s a proven money maker.

[–]Junerezi-Pyrope Homemade Spider-Man 66 points67 points  (8 children)

Is it weird that I'm not particularly dying for Miles in the MCU anytime soon? I like what they've done with Spiderman so far, don't get me wrong, but I think anything they try and do with Miles is at a very high risk of paling in comparison to whatever the spider verse people are doing.

I would like to see more Donald Glover as Prowler though

[–]ExterAAA 55 points56 points  (4 children)

MCU Miles would be fine because it’d be able to stand on its own by being just a Miles story instead of him being around 10 other Spider people saving the universe.

But they should still wait until Holland’s done though. There’s arguments against it, but I think it’d be best if there’s just one Spider-Man per universe.

[–]Tornado31619 Ms. Marvel 10 points11 points  (2 children)

I never liked the Spider-Verse stuff TBH. The movie’s fine, but the concept as a whole is just… bleh.

[–]ExterAAA 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Yeah I agree lol. The quality of multiverse stories varies depending on what drives them, but Spider-Verse stories are the most meaningless because the only point of them is to put a bunch of Spider-people together. That gets dry pretty quick. There’s only so many times a Spider-person showing another Spider-person how to be a Spider-person can be interesting. NWH worked because it had a bunch of movies of build up behind it. ITSV worked because of really great direction. But to be honest, I’m not super excited for the next SV movies. I’d rather it be a Miles solo.

[–]idClip42 Mysterio 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I also think it's a little early to turn Tom Holland's Spider-Man into a mentor. I think he needs a few more movies under his belt before he's a seasoned crime-fighter with something to teach.

[–]bradpittscockring 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Miles doesn't need to be in the MCU anytime soon tbh, quit debating on what Peter Sony can use and just fucking have Sony use Miles in live action and animation.

[–]Zowwww 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like he’d be totally separate from that, he is the legacy play for them both and has already been established in the MCU.

But yeah you are right theyd have a big issue with Sony just going off script with him.

[–]SexySnorlax1 Ms. Marvel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But we do know that one of Marvel's highest priorities in their negotiations with Sony, aside from making sure that they were happy with how the character of Spider-Man would be handled, was to make sure that they had similar control over Jessica Drew.

[–]ExterAAA 58 points59 points  (11 children)

pray for that man destin daniel cretton. he’s gonna have to make shang chi 2 and avengers the kang dynasty back to back.

but man, if that shang chi and the wreckage of time title is legit (it has to be. i dont think he’s doing any time shit in the comics, 2025 is gonna be crazy.

[–]ayo_stoptheCap 25 points26 points  (4 children)

Wreckage of Time was fake confirmed by the mods.

[–]vinegar_on_liver 8 points9 points  (3 children)

It's impossible for him to do both and have them come out within months of each other.

[–]VengefulKangaroo 16 points17 points  (1 child)

it's possible if they are willing to sit on a completed Shang Chi sequel a bit, I think. Infinity War and Endgame filmed back to back from Jan 2017 to Jan 2018 and released movies in April 2018 and 2019.

If Shang Chi and Avengers filmed back to back or close to it from Jan 2023 to Jan 2024 ish both could be ready for 2025.

[–]ExterAAA 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it’d be possible if he filmed Shang Chi 2 in 2023 and have it practically finished before filming Avengers in 2024.

[–]ritalara 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The Wreckage of Time sounds epic. It would be fun to have some sort of story of him and some friends trying to go back in time to do something with The Ten Rings to save whatever or whoever or what have you.

[–]ExterAAA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being a de-facto Avengers movie like Civil War.

[–]cbekel3618 Green Goblin 49 points50 points  (0 children)

our source’s best guess would be that Marvel still has plans to use Roberto Reyes as their quote-unquote flagship Latin hero.

I figured White Tiger would end up as that role if they ever appeared, but Robbie can definitely also fit that role if this has any truth to it.

I love Robbie Reyes so I really hope he does come back, bring back the Rider

[–]Lead_Dessert 37 points38 points  (1 child)

I bet Mahershala’s part in WBN was likely cut to keep the project as standalone as possible. But to also let the writer (Stacy Osei-Kuffour) for Blade have as much freedom as possible without having to tie in any Blade appearances to the movie when it starts filming.

[–]Apocalyptic_Horseman Daredevil 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I doubt it would’ve affected anything for the Blade movie. It probably would’ve been like the Eternals cameo except with him actually being shown

[–]deely1 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If Shang Chi is the Feb 25 movie, then that essentially confirms Deadpool 3 as the 2024 one (although it did look likely even before).

[–]samjjones 37 points38 points  (13 children)

I wonder if Olivia Wilde is the Jessica Drew project. Radio silence on that project for over a year now.

[–]cbekel3618 Green Goblin 61 points62 points  (8 children)

That project will come eventually, just don't worry, darling

[–]Danbito Alligator Loki 49 points50 points  (7 children)

I wonder if Miss Flo has anything to say about that.

[–]hence_1999 25 points26 points  (6 children)

God that was so condescending when she said that lol

[–]Robot1945 Grandmaster 12 points13 points  (5 children)

Can anyone tell me what's going on between them? I don't know the drama

[–]BlackBoltFan53 23 points24 points  (4 children)

Shia Lebouf was originally cast as the male lead, but can’t make time to rehearse with Florence and the others as well as Florence (potentially) not vibing with him. Shia leaves and Olivia Wilde begs for him to come back, siding with him over Florence and putting her down.

Harry Styles gets cast as the new male lead, he and Wilde start an affair and disrupt so much of the production with their high school romance antics that Florence ends up having to direct a significant portion of her scenes by herself. She has been distancing herself from the film lately.

[–]Robot1945 Grandmaster 12 points13 points  (3 children)

That was a lot, wow. I still don't understand all of that. Where does the Chris Pine v Harry Styles part come in?

And of course it's a fucking WBD movie

[–]BlackBoltFan53 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Pine seemed mildly annoyed at Harry’s conduct during the press junket (“I love this movie because it feels like a movie” and other gems), but Harry never spit on him luckily. That was just fake news.

[–]vinegar_on_liver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a video that went around of Harry allegedly spitting on him but there's no concrete proof it was real or serious, it looks like the two of them were chumming it up two seconds later.

[–]Patrick2701 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Olivia Wilde seems likely to be heading to director jail. No way, she is directing spider woman

[–]kothuboy21 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's a Marvel Studios production (or Sony and Marvel Studios co-production), I don't think Marvel would want to work with her after the DWD drama, especially as Florence Pugh was negatively affected by it and she's a big part of the MCU now so there may be a conflict of interest.

I don't think Sony would put up with her too but you never know.

[–]MyMouthisCancerous Spider-Man 30 points31 points  (12 children)

Both parties realized that it would be mutually beneficial to continue doing the main Spidey series together, if nothing else the Marvel aura itself is worth keeping up the deal on Sony's end and the merchandising profits that come with the movies make it worth keeping up on Marvel's end. So even if neither of the parties get exactly the terms they were hoping for, they know that this is still a very lucrative deal that is an absolute win for them

Yeah this basically confirms that they're not stopping at a trilogy with Tom Holland. If anything I can actually see the MCU as the big representation of cinematic Spidey for years beyond Peter being the main character and them potentially bringing in Miles Morales in the future to have Peter basically echo Stark's role in Homecoming and then have Morales join a team like the Champions later

Another interesting tidbit that's unrelated but cool nonetheless is that Disney+ is getting both The New Animated Series and SpecSpidey next month so all it's missing now is the 1967 show. Other than that it now has basically every major Spider-Man animated series between what's out and what's coming soon like Freshman/Sophomore Year. I know it's all contract stuff but Netflix didn't even get TNAS despite getting SpecSpidey so maybe that's somewhat indicative of the current Disney/Sony relationship stuff. Maybe there's a chance they're not fighting like divorced parents over the custody of their child anymore lol

[–]Tornado31619 Ms. Marvel 17 points18 points  (4 children)

Woah woah woah, Spectacular Spidey’s going to Disney+? I don’t think you realise how huge that is, how has it flown under the radar like that?!

[–]MyMouthisCancerous Spider-Man 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly SpecSpidey isn't even the big one for me. I'm surprised as fuck Sony gave them TNAS as well given Netflix didn't even get to stream that one at all

Also that show in general is like pretty out of place tonally with the rest of the Spider-Man shows given it's geared more towards young adults compared to SpecSpidey or the other shows. There's like depictions of alcohol, university frat parties, light swearing, Spider-Man says damn a lot, Lizard fucking dies, Electro participates in an initiation etc.

[–]SexySnorlax1 Ms. Marvel 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I assume the deal is similar to the Raimi/Webb movies being on Disney+ (where Disney is paying Sony to air its content), rather than a Defenders Saga situation (where the shows fully reverted back to Disney), but certainly it gives us at least a sliver of hope for S3 that didn’t exist before.

[–]Tornado31619 Ms. Marvel 5 points6 points  (1 child)

The problem is that Sony owns the rights to Spectacular, but only Disney can make animated content under 44 minutes now. Perhaps they can work something out, but if that was the case then I doubt we’d have Freshman Year.

[–]Icybubba Moon Knight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if we get season 3 it'd have to be after freshman year, but that was already announced for a second season so L

[–]BlackBoltFan53 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sony and Disney fought briefly. Everything post 2019 has been full partnership 100% (yes, even Morbius).

It makes them too much money to work together than to fight

[–]idClip42 Mysterio 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Ah, New Animated Series. What a theme song that one had.

[–]MyMouthisCancerous Spider-Man 8 points9 points  (1 child)

TNAS went hard af

Depressingly hard, probably leaned way too much into bad Parker luck shit, but hard nonetheless

[–]Xenoslayer2137 Mysterio 1 point2 points  (1 child)

After reading that list, it’s strange they’re adding New Mutants but not The Wolverine. That would make it the last x-men movie still on HBO Max

[–]a_o 2 points3 points  (0 children)

wolverine was on disney+ US for a few months in 2020. may still be available internationally.

[–]VengefulKangaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this basically confirms that they're not stopping at a trilogy with Tom Holland.

it would if any of the rest of the info were reliable but it's not, the Julia carpenter rights have always been w/ Sony

[–]Apocalyptic_Horseman Daredevil 27 points28 points  (13 children)

I love Ryan Gosling and I love Iron Fist but I really do hope Finn Jones comes back. I know he was just joking but I do hope Ryan ends up playing Ghost Rider

[–]Robot1945 Grandmaster 18 points19 points  (9 children)

[–]Apocalyptic_Horseman Daredevil 13 points14 points  (1 child)

Of course. That’s probably what their meeting was about. He’s the BP at the end of the Wakanda Forever trailer

[–]Robot1945 Grandmaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely

[–]ExterAAA 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Honestly, they should cast him as Hunter. I’m literally dying for the MCU to introduce T’Chaka’s white adoptive Wakandan ultranationalist son. Make him a semi antagonist that they have to begrudgingly team up with in the Midnight Angels series.

[–]World_in_my_eyes Goose 7 points8 points  (1 child)

They’ve already given Bucky the White Wolf nickname, so I don’t know if they would bring in Hunter.

[–]ExterAAA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They could just say it was a title passed to Bucky to redeem it from Hunter and his casual breaking of the Geneva Conventions while leader of the War Dogs. Have Hunter be upset about it.

[–]Robot1945 Grandmaster 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Interesting idea. Funny thing is that I'm not sure if Hunter is his codename or if he's just a guy named Hunter

[–]ExterAAA 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I think Hunter is his real name. He was old enough to know his own name when T’Chaka saved him from the plane crash. The White Wolf is his codename. I’m imagining a reunion scene where he’s pissed off they gave his title to an outsider.

[–]BlackBoltFan53 12 points13 points  (1 child)

From this it sounds like Luna is still our Robbie Reyes/main Rider. And considering MoM leaks, sounds like Cage will be back to play Blaze when/if that version shows up.

[–]eddydots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

god that would be fucking incredible. i recently rewatched that first Ghost Rider movie fully expecting it to be ass and was very pleasantly surprised. it's not a fantastic movie by any means, some very messy writing. but i absolutely love how it doesn't take itself seriously whatsoever. it's so corny and ridiculous and it knows it and fully embraces it, i'd completely forgotten about that before. the direction is really great for what it is honestly. the transitions between scenes had me cracking up at times

[–]treathugger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he's anything like his character in Place Beyond the Pines, he'd be perfect.

[–]MyFestivalAccount 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Lol “they cut WBN in half but then filmed more and added the time back”

Really covering all your bases huh? No way to be wrong on this one. Classic MSS

[–]Happy_Lil_Atoms 24 points25 points  (7 children)

Not exactly a scoop, more of a "blatantly teasing us"-type hinting for She-Hulk and the future identity of the MCU's Red Hulk.

See my original posts here and here

TL;DR: Cousin Ched is shown in EVERY appearance wearing red shirts. Bruce mentions him early in Ep. 1 and later, tells Jen that she and Bruce share genetic traits that allow them to synthesize Gamma radiation. presumably extending to other family members. Like Ched.

CHED SMASH! #RedHulk #ChedHulk

[–]penanceintent Daredevil 12 points13 points  (5 children)

This theory is... interesting for sure. But I feel like that’d be quite a big change in the character of Red Hulk, from anti-hero/villain to a comic-relief. Which I guess isn’t weird if you look at MCU interpretations of a lot of characters. Personally think it’d be more fitting if all the red was just a red herring and he turns out to be the blue A-Bomb.

[–]FictionFantom Deadpool 21 points22 points  (6 children)

Where did this assumption come from that a main character must die in every trilogy finale? It rarely happens when you really think about it.

[–]Tornado31619 Ms. Marvel 22 points23 points  (5 children)

I’ve accepted that May’s dead, but a big reason I was against it was because it felt like Marvel just needed to up the stakes. I suppose Odin died in Ragnarok, but nobody important died in Iron Man 3 or Civil War.

[–]Icybubba Moon Knight 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It just depends. I mean the Avengers died in Civil War lol

[–]Courier23 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rhodes’s legs and Tony’s parents: “am I a joke to you?”

[–]SuperCoenBros Valkyrie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

nobody important died in Iron Man 3

ALDRICH KILLIAN: Are me and my ridiculous tattoos a joke to you?

[–]thestarscarlet 4 points5 points  (1 child)

No one dying in Civil War always rung as more ballsy and creative to me than having a bloodbath. It shows more depth to the characters as people that they had them go easy on each other during the airport fight.

Rhodey being paralyzed and having to live with that is also a messier plot point than if he just straight up died. If he dies there's no more movie, everyone realizes there's no coming back and they all either retire or work it all out together.

When he's paralyzed, though, it ends the fight in a messy way [Cap escapes] and sinks Tony specifically, further into darkness

[–]kothuboy21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah if Rhodey died, there's no way Steve would ignore that. The rest of the movie would've went way differently.

[–]Danbito Alligator Loki 19 points20 points  (13 children)

Interesting bit about Quantumania’s ending. Wonder where Kang is left off if Scott and Hope are trapped with Hank, Janet and Cassie unable to rescue them. I assume Scott and Hope have to escape by somehow using the multiverse

[–]TurboNerdo077 21 points22 points  (9 children)

It seems a bit repetitive, as Scott being trapped in the Quantum Realm was the post credit of the previous film. And seeing how the solution to that problem was "a rat stepped on a button", which undercuts the stakes of any subsequent entrapment.

[–]RGbudvit 15 points16 points  (7 children)

A safe bet is that Kang trained that rat.

[–]Low_Satisfaction_512 8 points9 points  (4 children)

I know you're joking but holy shit can you imagine if that actually happens. That would actually be brilliant.

[–]RGbudvit 8 points9 points  (3 children)

heh

I'm not joking, I fully expect a montage of Kang moving stuff around in the previous films to help their plots along, starting with him putting a large car battery in a cave.

[–]Icybubba Moon Knight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was it Kang who made sure Hulk juice went to Stan Lee's house?

[–]cane-of-doom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's been Kang all along!

[–]treathugger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fuck you are making me want this bad

[–]Junerezi-Pyrope Homemade Spider-Man 3 points4 points  (1 child)

That was The Rat Kang, not to be confused with the dude from TMNT.

[–]Danbito Alligator Loki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think intentionally having Hank, Janet and Cassie escape and still be unable to retrieve Scott and Hope, is a way to circumvent another 'rat' moment.

[–]Kingpin1232 Daredevil 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I’m guessing Kang gets away. KC Walsh has hinted at the ending being the reason Jeff Loveness is writing Kang Dynasty and that they’re saving Kang’s meatier stuff for that film. I don’t really trust leakers much, but he seems to be well informed on that film.

[–]Icybubba Moon Knight 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I mean we're going to see Kang between Quantumania and Kang Dynasty. I mean at the very least in Loki season 2.

Assuming Young Avengers comes out prior to that we'd probably see him there too

[–]Little_Neddie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suspect Kang Dynasty is, essentially, young Avengers. Scott and Hope are taken off the board temporarily at the end of Ant-Man 3. Same will happen to most of the other adults by the time Kang Dynasty gets rolling. Kids have to save the day, and the adults return for Secret Wars (so the two films have different teams, for the most part).

[–]eat_jay_love 17 points18 points  (2 children)

I’m skeptical of any leak that says “Black Panther for [insert specific ethnic group].” This is how the general public thinks, but I don’t think this is how Marvel Studios would approach developing films. Like they really looked at the success of Black Panther and thought “wow we can replicate this for Latinos using a Ghost Rider movie!” ?? Does that really seem plausible?

[–]ritalara 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Someone at Marvel/Disney is absolutely having that conversation, even if it's not the filmmakers.

Edit: that is not an endorsement of said convo, just an acknowledgement that these types of convos are definitely happening at some level - look at the Discovery/Warner Brothers slides, for example.

I’m not saying these conversations aren’t happening anywhere. I am sure there are execs somewhere at Disney/every media company debating how best to develop content for a variety of different demographic groups. What I doubt is that an insider or leaker has this specific intel as the “reason” for an unannounced project like Ghost Rider being greenlit. For example I don’t think it was as simple as Marvel Studios saying “oh wow, Black Panther was so successful, let’s develop Shang-Chi to do the same for Asian people!” Nor do I think there’s any version of Ghost Rider that could represent or appeal to the Latino community in the same way as Black Panther did for the Black community. It just feels like a suspicious amount of detail that sounds more like speculation than actual insider information.

[–]Spider-Fan77 Green Goblin 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I call BS on that Marvel/Sony story. No way Marvel had the rights to Julia Carpenter (well, at least not full rights).

Also, if that Shang-Chi release date is true, no way Destin Cretton is still directing it, right?

[–]ChristopherDassx_16 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As per the leaked contract from 2011, Sony owns Julia Carpenter so it's BS.

[–]ritalara 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Robbie Reyes! Bring our son home from war. 💀🔥

[–]idClip42 Mysterio 13 points14 points  (5 children)

Hope springs eternal for Black Cat in Spider-Man 4.

[–]MyMouthisCancerous Spider-Man 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She's way fucking overdue for a live-action appearance. And not just as some non-descript OsCorp employee named "Felicia"

[–]BlackBoltFan53 8 points9 points  (2 children)

MTTSH said she’s in SM4 and that Anya Taylor Joy is who they want

[–]mcwfan 3 points4 points  (1 child)

So she’s not in SM4, and Anya Taylor Joy is not who they want. Good to know

[–]Tornado31619 Ms. Marvel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll be shocked if it’s not the two of them and Daredevil vs. Fisk.

[–]ViggieSmallss 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Maybe Gosling and Simu Liu hit it off on the set of "Barbie" and was recommended to Destin Daniel Cretton for the Shang-Chi sequel.

[–]Skeuomorphic_ Moon Knight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

pain

[–]justambrose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean I would love a high budget Iron Fist with a cinematic K’un Lun but damn it would suck if they bring everyone else except Finn Jones. I don’t think he was the problem, Scott Buck was. Plus, this would probably rule out Jessica Henwick from returning as Colleen, which would be really sad.

[–]SuperCoenBros Valkyrie 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Shang-Chi 2 is releasing February 14th, 2025

They are going to roll Daniel Destin Cretton's body into the Kang Dynasty premiere, Weekend at Bernie's style.

[–]samjjones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surrounded by the VF/X workers' corpses.

[–]Poach1234 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Marvel met with Ryan Gosling as well as Austin Butler earlier this year. Marvel specifically discussed Iron Fist with Gosling. He wants to star in a martial arts project and we are unsure if there's a new Iron Fist project in development, if marvel wants him to take over the title role, or if he is playing a one-off villain, etc.

Honestly, if Finn Jones is really going to be recast, it would definitely be best to replace him with an A-Lister like Gosling. Or just a more acclaimed actor in general to keep the reactions in check.

I swear they better not write off Danny as a character, or replace him with Colleen or someone else like a previous leak suggested.

And jesus, there better not be another ridiculous meltdown/backlash if they recast Danny with Gosling or any white guy in general. I'm still not over how insane and unnecessary that whole period was back when Finn Jones was cast. Was pulling my hair out at the absurdity.

[–]BlindedBraille Madisynn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Gosling is way too old now for Iron Fist and I highly doubt he wants to be in multiple movies. It's more likely he gets a villain role as that's Marvel's MO (unknown actor as the hero/A-list talent as the villain).

[–]KravenHunter6 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Marvel/Sony Rumor is either false or parts of it false.

The Jessica Drew/Julia Carpenter is entirely made up. Ever since Sony bought the rights to Spider-Man they owned the rights to Julia Carpenter. Jessica Drew on the other hand, is a character that both Sony AND Marvel own the rights to, so they don’t need Sony’s permission to use with the only draw back is that they can’t call her Spider-Woman. This is how I know they are most likely lying, and if they are lying about that then that most likely means the rest of the Sony-Marvel stuff is false

[–]HypocritesAllofYou69 6 points7 points  (10 children)

Funny how these “trusted sources” always posted on here saying John Krasinski isn’t Reed Richards but can’t tell us who is. It’s always five or six names added on as “speculation”.

[–]JohannSchmidt1943 “So the devil is back” 4 points5 points  (7 children)

It’s not funny, it’s how things work. They are casting for Reed Richards. Looking for actors. If it was krasinski, they wouldn’t be out looking for actors, they would just keep what they already had

[–]HypocritesAllofYou69 5 points6 points  (6 children)

Well have they given you guys even an inkling on who it could be or are they just as reliable as the random twitter accounts that get posted here that after D23 were proven wrong?

[–]PotatoBulletGun Iron Man Mk 85 6 points7 points  (18 children)

why are people so obsessed with Krasinski being the 616 Reed?

[–]ComicBookFan20 Red Guardian 27 points28 points  (9 children)

Because it’d be a legitimately good casting?

[–]treathugger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't think he's perfect but he'd do well. Chris Evans or Chris Hemsworth weren't perfect either in my mind, but man they embodied their characters.

[–]ExterAAA 20 points21 points  (4 children)

popular actor from a popular show voiced interest in wanting to be in the mcu and then got fancasted. then marvel comics artists started to draw reed with a beard in a way that kind of looked like him so people got even more convinced/adamant about it. bearded reed didn’t start off looking like krasinski. but it kinda started to during the dan slott run that’s ending soon.

i’m gonna win twice when they cast somebody else and when they take the beard off in the comics for the upcoming ryan north run.

[–]idClip42 Mysterio 8 points9 points  (2 children)

The beard's already gone. He shaved it at the start of the Reckoning War and it doesn't appear to be coming back.

The amount of people who gravitated towards the beard as an identifying feature for Reed kinda bums me out. In the context of the overall history of the FF, he had it for five minutes. It was a brief thing.

[–]ExterAAA 6 points7 points  (1 child)

oh good. i forgot i recently saw a ff preview with a clean-shaven reed.

i thought it was cool during the midpoint of hickman’s new avengers because he was on the run so it made sense for that period. but reed’s square jaw is one of his defining features, so people pointing towards krasinski with the beard was always odd to me.

[–]idClip42 Mysterio 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Giving Reed facial hair has always been a storytelling device.

Reed hasn't had time to shave? That's how you know shit has hit the fan - Hickman's Secret Wars being the easy example.

I figure Slott and the artists he worked with chose to keep it in order to present Reed as more of a fatherly figure. Perhaps shaving it at the end was part of Slott's effort to "put all the toys back in the toybox".

[–]MysteriousFlan5723 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk, he's cool.

[–]TheJack0fDiamonds The Scarlet Witch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why cant people be? This whole fandom is driven by obsessions. I don’t see why this is singled out as if it’s the weirdest or wildest one.

[–]ComicSportsNerd Spider-Man 7 points8 points  (8 children)

hope that ghost rider bit is false to not have Johnny Blaze would be very sad

[–]Kingpin1232 Daredevil 8 points9 points  (1 child)

It’s a rumour, take it with a grain of salt.

[–]ComicSportsNerd Spider-Man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

well yeah that's why I'm hoping it's false lol

[–]Ok_Contest493 Red Guardian 2 points3 points  (2 children)

A Johnny Blaze 70s period piece project would be cool though

[–]ComicSportsNerd Spider-Man 4 points5 points  (1 child)

a good period piece would be Carter Slade and make Johnny the main MCU Ghost Rider

[–]Ok_Contest493 Red Guardian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like you do Carter for the late 1890s early in 1900s, Blaze for the 70s-80s, Ketch for the 90s-2000s and Reyes for the 10s-20s

[–]Mariooooo2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few things:

  • SC2 being February 2025 would be way too much for Cretton to handle since he’s doing TKD and Wonder-Man all within like a years timeframe. Really wish it’s after secret wars because TKD quality could diminish if he’s hopping constantly between projects.
  • Sony/Marvel shit seems way too specific and I’m doubting it’s real considering a bunch of other stuff came from the same dude who posted it.
  • I do think Scott gets trapped in the QR at the end but honestly I want something that raises the stakes for him more considering this is the third time they’ve done this in the trilogy. Bit overused.

[–]TheBigGAlways369 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they also fought hard to quietly kill Sony's Black Cat-Silver Sable project

Well, that would have been extraordinarily petty of them. I've read the unmade Silver and Black script, that film could have pretty fun.

[–]GliderMan84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gabriel Luna as Robbie Reyes FTW

[–]Spiderbyte 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Shang-Chi one is bullshit. Zero percent change Cretton directs two tent pole films that release 3 months apart

[–]haolee510 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zemo has yet to be listed or mentioned anywhere with respect to Thunderbolts

Didn't the Marvel.com page for the announcement literally says Zemo on the address?

[–]FewWatermelonlesson0 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The Ghost Rider thing is suspect but if true it would line up with the reports that MCU Quake will be a variant rather than the AOS version.

[–]TheJack0fDiamonds The Scarlet Witch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I’m glad to hear they’re not off-ing Hank and Janet. Ngl it’s keeping me on my toes cuz theres a pattern of loss in third movies so my money was on Hank but happy to see they’re here to stay. Also in that amazing plot leak that turned out to be fake had Janet dying.

Not sure how I feel about yet another entrapment in the QR but maybe this time we’ll get to see what it’s like. Poor Scott lol. Thank God for the time difference. I’m dying to see Hope as the Wasp doing some Avenger-ing though. Also It does seem like they’re going out of their way to send a bunch of heroes “away” somehow (Dr Strange is in Dark Dimension, Scarlet Witch apparently “dead”, Eternals and Hulk off planet etc etc) seem to be leaving space for the new heroes to do some work.

If Ryan Gosling isn’t Nova then I’d like to manifest Zac Efron. How he isn’t playing a superhero yet is wild to me. That said, Gosling as Ghost Rider is a brilliant idea but i really root for Finn Jones to come back for Iron Fist. Either way, get Gosling in the MCU!

[–]bradpittscockring 4 points5 points  (2 children)

>Marvel specifically discussed Iron Fist with Gosling.

If they waste Gosling as a one off villain and don't have him be the MCU's Johnny Blaze I will be highly upset.

[–]HearTheEkko Green Goblin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Ghost Rider projet has to be in development for sure. They're definitely setting up the Midnight Sons and he's the only major reccuring member left.

Not to mention that he's arguably the biggest Marvel character besides the F4 and X-Men that hasn't been introduced yet.

[–]LZBANE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that Finn was miscast as Iron Fist in general, but wasn't there also another aspect where people where pissed that it was a missed opportunity to 'fix' a character that 'shouldn't' be white?

I'm genuinely recalling that as a criticism and I'm just worried as of repeat, as I'd personally love Ryan as IF. I think it could be amazing and would hate to see it derailed by such controversy.

[–]preppytarg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So his Cretton directing Shang Chi 2 and Kang Dynasty back to back or should we be expecting another director stepping in to make SC2?

[–]adamnick_ 1 point2 points  (15 children)

Kang should honestly kill off Scott Lang at the end of Quantumania. Paul Rudd, I love ya, you've been brilliant, you've had a film trilogy, you were pivotal in getting the events of Endgame off the ground, we'll never forget you. But, the best way to show how serious Kang is for the rest of the Multiverse Saga, is to kill off a big main character. Hank too.

[–]CMelody Madisynn 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Maybe he doesn't have to kill Scott Lang to make that point. Maybe he injures Scott so badly that he's in a coma for a long time.

And then while he's in the coma, SHIELD agent Eric O'Grady (played by Glenn Howerton) steals the Ant-Man suit for his own selfish purposes and some of the hero community has to try to get it back before Scott wakes up.

[–]LongjumpMidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because of the implication

[–]treathugger 10 points11 points  (3 children)

No no no no! Not Scott. Anyone but him.

[–]DaHyro Winter Soldier 9 points10 points  (3 children)

If they were gonna do that, they’ll do it in Avengers 5, not an Ant-Man movie.

[–]adamnick_ 1 point2 points  (2 children)

What better film to kill him off in, than the last film we'd expect him to die in. If Marvel are to show us that he's different from Thanos, that he's more powerful than Thanos, they've gotta shock the audience a few times along the way, not leave all the shocks for us at the end of the story.

[–]DaHyro Winter Soldier 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Yeah, and they’ll do that in the movie that more people are gonna watch. Kang Dynasty.

They don’t kill off Loki at the end of Ragnarok, they do it at the start of IW to get the plot rolling.

You guys have to remember the MCU isn’t supposed to be seen as one story, it’s more a bunch of individual movies that build to crossovers like Avengers.

[–]ayo_stoptheCap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just kill Hank off. Don't kill Scott.

[–]BreedinBacksnatch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know anything, but Dick LaGravenese may be cowriting Fantastic Four.

[–]Xekshek33 Moon Knight 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Please let Gosling be whomever he wants and not a one off villain. Nothing wrong with that at all because it works and fits the stories (and ofc if that's what the actor wants) but Gosling can fill so many roles that can last, and I love the idea of Danny Rand. When he talked about Ghost Rider though, I loved that as well haha.

[–]cryptofutures100xlev 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Would be epicc if he's lying about Nova and was already cast 😱

[–]Xekshek33 Moon Knight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would be VERY awesome as well.

[–]22AgentBrown 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I just want a Spider-Man movie where he takes on Wilson Fisk and I'll be happy

[–]NightHunter909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lowkey i buy that sony/marvel hagged on secondary spidey chars, but details given here are a bit suspect

[–]therisingalleria Makkari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any Eternals news? Can we expect any cameos from the Domo Crew in The Marvels or GoTG3?

[–]ThrownAwayintoLF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Leaving Scott and Hope in the Quantum Realm again makes a lot of sense for The Kang Dynasty, makes sense for Cassie/ Young Avengers, and even makes sense for moving on from Lily or (god forbid) Rudd if they want to, but it’s also repeating itself and feels like it would be a shame to not let the Ant-Man trilogy have some closure.

[–]FragMasterMat117 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I really think that Black Cat would be a great addition for Spidey 4 for the simple reason that Felicia doesn't like being Felicia. With Peter now being very isolated it would make sense for him to consider just being Spidey, with Black Cat pulling him in that direction.

[–]NfinityBL Phil Coulson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they intend on keeping Robbie Reyes as Ghost Rider, please also keep Gabriel Luna. His Ghost Rider was one of the best parts of Agents of SHIELD and I was gutted when they cancelled his series.

[–]Gremlin10159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an insider but I could not post this. On a train back from central London as we speak and the guy next to me had a Secret Invasion cast and crew back pack. Asked him how working on the show was and just chit chat about marvel. Let slip something I haven't personally heard but they're currently doing reshoots for Secret Invasion as the plot involved Russia in some form. Obviously reshooting to move away from that.

I sneaked a picture of the bag before I said anything so I guess that's my proof? Nice guy, said I was the first person whose said something about the show. Said he was at Liverpool Street station a few months back for the reshoots.

EDIT: Just realized I think I posted this in the wrong thread whoops

[–]Dogwander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s absolutely no way Cretton is doing both Shang-Chi 2 and Kang Dynasty three months apart. He’ll probably be prepping just the latter in about a year from now.

[–]Spiderlander Spider-Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Marvel vs. Sony 😭

[–]cryptofutures100xlev 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Any Nova news? Oh and Zemo is confirmed for thunderbolts. Him and John Walker were confirmed a while ago back when it was announced that Yelena would be the leader

[–]-Nick____ 6 points7 points  (7 children)

Other than RPK saying so on his Patreon, Zemo hasn’t been “confirmed”

[–]cryptofutures100xlev 1 point2 points  (5 children)

It was literally confirmed by the direct and one of the writers if I recall correctly. He was included in a link for the d23 reveals

[–]-Nick____ 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Can you provide the source for the writer and the direct claiming either one of those?

As for the Marvel website thing, Zemo’s name was on the Marvel.com url for Thunderbolts, that’s it. That’s for search engine optimization, it doesn’t confirm him

[–]MyFestivalAccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you know what “confirmed” means

[–]FantasticWolverine32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like Shang-Chi 2 and Avengers 5 will be shot back-to-back if this is true.

[–]Alternative_Anxiety White Vision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They ain't doing Ghost Rider though
