College Membership

St John’s College
St John’s College is a small college situated on the north perimeter of the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry campus. Students who enrol at St John’s College receive full credit from the University of Manitoba for all their courses, and have the additional opportunity to study and interact with faculty and other students in a community setting. The courses taught in the College are part of University of Manitoba degree programs. St John’s College is governed by its own Council and Assembly, but in all academic matters other than the Theology program, the College is subject to the regulations of the Senate of the University of Manitoba.

How to become a member?
St John’s College invites any student who has been accepted by a faculty or school of the University of Manitoba to become a member of the College. College membership can be requested on the U of M admissions form, or via the U of M’s telephone or web registration system (details below).

A membership fee of no more than $27.75 per year will be added to your tuition fees.  It must be paid at the Cashier’s Office in University Centre by the tuition fee deadline.  You cannot pay the fee directly to the College.  After you have registered as a member, bring your student card to the General Office for your annual membership sticker.  You can use the sticker to get a 10% discount at the Daily Bread Café, and to book empty classrooms in the College. 

College members receive their degrees from the U of M, and enjoy complete access to all courses, services and facilities of both the University of Manitoba and St John’s College. 

How to Register As A Member Of St John’s College On the web: 

  • Go to the U of M homepage www.umanitoba.ca
  • Choose “web registration” from the menu
  • Choose “log in” and log in
  • From the menu, choose “declare”, then “college of membership”, then “St John’s College”
  • Reassess your fees.

By phone: 

  • Call the UMREG system at (204) 958-7600
  • Enter “1” to access the registration system
  • Enter “1#” for regular session
  • Follow the prompts
  • When asked to “enter your next request”, enter “6#” (the modify request)
  • Listen to the options and choose “3#” (college of membership)
  • Enter the code for St John’s: “06#” then follow the prompts
  • At the end of the call, choose “8#” to reassess your fees.
