Auckland City helps to fund a number of Auckland's major tourist attractions:
Auckland Art Gallery Toi O Tāmaki
The Auckland Art Gallery Toi O Tāmaki has the largest and most comprehensive
collection of New Zealand and international art in the country. It is a popular destination with 200,000 visitors a year enjoying
the cultural, educational, and entertainment aspects of the Gallery.
A public art museum, it is in the heart of Auckland city and within walking distance of most central hotels. Located in two
buildings, the main building was opened in 1888 and is an exquisite example of French renaissance architecture. The adjacent New
gallery opened in 1995 as the Gallery's contemporary art annex.
Auckland City Council's living parks
Auckland city is brimming with parks and open spaces, ranging from the pleasant to the
awe-inspiring. Rich in history and natural pleasures our parks and open spaces encourage people to explore and discover, to
experience their living history - both cultural and natural.
Auckland City Council care for over 800 parks and open spaces for not only residents and visitors to Auckland
city, but for the future
generations to explore, nurture and grow in the great outdoors.

Auckland Town Hall
The Auckland Town Hall was originally opened in 1911 and is one of the most prominent historical buildings on Queen Street. It
was the first permanent centre of administration and entertainment in Auckland and hosts conferences, theatre, concerts and Council
meetings.
The restoration, completed in 1997, created the opportunity to add modern amenities which re-established the building's standing
as a multi-functional venue and world class performance hall.

Auckland War Memorial Museum
Want to know more about Auckland or New Zealand, what surrounds it or the people who walk its streets?
Auckland War Memorial Museum will let you get your bearings. It's the cultural and
spiritual touchstone for the many races that inhabit this beautiful land. The first stop for anyone wishing to gain an insight
in to New Zealand, its peoples, where they've been and where they're going.
Auckland Zoo
Set in beautiful park-like grounds, Auckland Zoo features New Zealand's largest
collection of native and exotic animals. Explore the tropical rainforest, hippo river and pridelands, a recreation of an african
savanna with lions, rhinos, giraffes, zebra's and springbok. Meet the asian elephants or walk the primate trail.
At wilderness New Zealand visit the New Zealand aviary and the nocturnal kiwi and tuatara house. From September 2001, bluebird
sealion and penguin shores will showcase New Zealand's coastal eco-system and will feature little blue penguins and sealions
whose spectacular antics will be seen through an underwater viewing window.
Bruce Wilkinson collection
Albert Park House, in Auckland's historic Albert Park, is home to the remarkable Bruce
Wilkinson collection. Generously gifted to Auckland City in 1974, the exhibition features treasures collected during Bruce
Wilkinson's travels to Europe and Asia throughout the 1930s-1960s. Highlights of the collection include more than 70 clocks, music
boxes, mirrors, hand blown glass sculptures, marble and ivory collectibles, fine china and a ceramic elephant.

Maritime Museum
Experience New Zealand's maritime history 'where the past meets the present' at the
Maritime Museum.
Venture back to a timeless era of uncharted waters and discovery.
Wander through historical world class galleries depicting New Zealand's Pacific and European maritime heritage. Cruise the

The Edge
The Edge is Auckland's centre for conventions, Arts and Entertainment,
comprising of the The Aotea Centre, Auckland Town Hall, The Civic and Aotea Square. The Edge is the
entertainment hub of Auckland, offering four distinctly different venues within seconds of each other, brought together under one
brand - The Edge.

destination and through its four Visitor Information Centres to provide free, high quality and impartial information to visitors.
