MUSLIM FOSTER CARERS REQUIRED

The Islamic Fostering Service is urgently seeking people with sincere hearts to take up the task of fostering Muslim children in and around the London area. Many Muslim children still end up in non-Muslim homes because there are not enough Muslim carers.

You need a spare room, a stable family life, good caring and listening
skills, and patience. Fostering does not cost you money which is a
common misconception, we actually pay allowances to cover costs and
financially reward carers (up to £306). However, the ultimate reward is from Allah.

We have an urgent need for carers that will care for teenagers from Muslim countries, see our website for the factsheet. These children are often well behaved and want nothing more than to settle into a normal family life routine.

The process to become a carer takes around 6 months, and involves an assessment of the home and people in the family, as well as checks including health, local authority and police CRB. Young carers are sometimes our best asset. You can even be a working couple as some of our carers are.

HOSPITAL VISITING SERVICE - VISIT TO MAKE A DIFFERENE

The noble Messenger of Allah (pbuh) stated, "The best amongst mankind is the one who brings benefit to others."

The Hospital Visiting Service is a voluntary project launched by Ulfa Aid to serve those under hospital care. This project has been initiated because of the great need to help people in distress and sickness in our hospitals. Support during such times, no matter how small, can prove invaluable. A person willing to visit others is someone who gives their time and effort to make a difference. Volunteers can be of all ages and backgrounds, with each person bringing their own qualities to this effort.

The service is not intended for any specific community but will be open to all patients of all backgrounds, cultures and beliefs. However Muslim patients will most likely benefit at first until the project gains enough inertia to widen itself or unless we are requested by the relevant hospital authorities to do so.

If you would like further information or wish to put your name
forward as a potential volunteer please contact Dr Ahmed:

SAKINAH FORUM - NEW MUSLIMS SUPPORT GROUP IN EAST LONDON

Time: Every Wednesday, 10.30am - 12.30pm
Venue: Collingwood TA Hall, Collingwood Street, London, E1

New to Islam, yet feeling lonely? Want to expand your knowledge of Islam? Need to meet sisters who understand you? Sakinah Forum has been formed by sisters in the community who were concerned about the lack of facilities for new sisters in Islam, who as a result become isolated. Such a situation is unnatural for any Muslim, as the Prophet (SAW) says:

"The believers, in their mutual friendship, mercy and affection, are like one body; if any part of it complains, the rest of the body will also stay awake in pain"

Sakinah provides the opportunity to meet new sisters and make
new friends to build the relationship Allah has defined for
us as Muslims. Sakinah aspires to provide a support point for
new converts whereby it achieves to guide and help sisters gain
a deeper understanding of Islam.

Sakinah creates a comfortable forum to discuss issues affecting
one's life, share problems with sisters of similar backgrounds,
discuss community problems and international issues, amongst
many other topics.

Sakinah warmly welcome sisters who would like to maximise their
reward by contributing to this forum Insha'Allah. So be part of
it, make it happen!

WEEKLY MARRIAGE SESSIONS (E London)

Time: Every Sundays, 11am - 1pm
Venue: Froud Centre, 1 Toronto Avenue, Manor Park, London, E12 5JF

All welcome, regardless of marital status. However, the minimum age for brothers is 25 years and sisters is 22 years. Mahrams are highly recommended to attend and assist where possible.

No pre-registration is required and attending the weekly circle that runs parallel is not compulsory. There will be no group workshops during these sessions. Profiles of brothers and sisters are to be displayed at the back of the hall and meetings will be arranged at the venue, insha'Allah. No attendance means no display of profiles.

Please note, this is not a social get together for free mixing. Nor is it a cattle market, unless of course you come along with a polluted mind and wish to act upon it. We are open to all Muslims, irrespective of their level of faith and practice.

This is an attempt to deal with a huge problem in the Muslim community through a simple yet practical way within the framework of the Shariah. It has been organised because many Islamic centres are continuing to fail in their provision of such services for Muslims.
