ParryHotter is the community filled with the joy of bringing together the twisted fans of Harry Potter. We love fanfic, slash, fan art, twincest, and anything involving drugs, ice cream and underwear. We support ships like Filch/Lucius, Dobby/Harry, Ginny/Percy, Sirius/Buckbeak, and of course, the ever popular, Harry/his hand. But twisted shipping is only the beginning.

But please, before joining (we want you to join!), read all the below information. There's no silly links for you to go to get the information, it's all right here. Please read it all so later, if you do something stupid, you won't have any excuse. I hate excuses. Anyway. Read on!

ParryHotter is under Modded Membership, that is, not every single Joe Asshat can join. Why? Because we hate spies and we love our longtime members, their presence, and their works. As far as the Modded Membership goes, this is what I'm looking for, if you apply to become a new member of the Hotter:


  • Obvious Harry Potter fanship (slash and other like genres count towards you)
  • Journals that have been here for a little while
  • As of August '07: If your journal was created after Strikethrough '07 (after May 29, 2007) I will require TWO references from members of the Harry Potter community. They can be already members of the Hotter, or of [info]pornish_pixies, or of [info]erotic_elves, or of any valid Dirty Harry Community (and there are many of them here on LJ, and by my naming of thos two communities I am not implying that we are associated with them, for we are not). I'm sorry, but for safety's sake, it has to be this way.


I have pretty good instincts, but yes, yes, I see problems with both; someone could easily fake a fannish LJ, OR someone is trying to join with their "backup" LJ that they've created since Strike & Boldthrough because of all of the deletive mess. Fine, that's fine, but if you really, really want to join if you feel I've rejected you unfairly, then send your pleas to bigfattf@gmail.com. Tell me why I should accept your curiously overboard "ZOMG I LUFF GINNY/FIRECRAB!" LJ or Insta-LJ into our safehaven.

And with the fun, there are a few rules. We have to keep you in line somehow. To quote Bill Maher,

NEW RULES

as of June, 2007:

1. Each and every post MUST be Friends Locked. If you don't know how to do that, then you're either REALLY new to LJ or really slow.

2. Each and every fic, drabble, piece of art, or pervy item MUST be posted DIRECTLY on the community (that is, no linking to fics on your personal journals/other journals/communities). Metalinking does not foster community discussion--which is a big part of this community--nor will it keep your work safe from intruding outsiders who hate on the whacked out people of Potterdom. If you are unclear about our reasons for having this rule, then a must-read is located here.

3. No quizzes. Any quiz you may want to post in here goes to [info]hotternewbs, our sister comm.
4. Don't advertise your community/roleplay. There are plenty of other HP communities on here that don't specify this as a rule, and there's always [info]community_promo.
5. Big pictures go behind an lj-cut. Some don't mind, but for those with dial-up, or journal styles, it's annoying. Icons and small pictures are fine.

As of June 2007, ParryHotter is a completely moderated community, so all posters and posts must be approved by a mod in order to get on the board. So, basically, any rule breaking will be caught before it has a chance to see the board. Think about that, folks. If there do happen to be complaints or questions, bring them to me here.

The things below aren't rules, but they make your stay at PH more pleasant if followed...

WARNING: This is the community for the twisted Harry Potter fan. When we say twisted, we mean it. There may be posts about teacher/student sexual slash relations. If you don't mind slash or smut with lots of bondage and drugs, but teacher/student or father/son etc. squicks you, just be aware that the topic may come up, and if it does, ignore it. Trying to down someone's opinion makes everyone mad at you and it makes a fool out of you. So, realize that it might happen and try to just ignore it and wait for (or start up!) a topic about your favorite ship, whether it be Flitwick/McGonagall, Peeves/Filch, or Draco/Seamus. Whatever floats your boat. We'll deal with whatever you support as long as you deal with what we support.

ParryHotter is not rated. Expect fanfics, fanarts, icons, or even regular user content of ALL ratings up to NC-17. There aren't age restrictions on ParryHotter--there never have been--as we cannot control anyone underage joining/reading and getting in trouble with their parents (it's virtually impossible to control who gets in; there is no standard litmus test online for age, so please don't even ask us to try--parents, if you're truly concerned about your children reading or seeing such material then you need to be more involved in what your child is doing online and set your own restrictions and filters on your computer). Please keep in mind that ALL posts since Current 2007 LJ Standards have been implemented are FRIENDS LOCKED and will remain that way, and not available to the General Public.

Our community hosts content (fiction and art) from the sexy to the toilet humor-y. The community has always been unrated (NR) because of that. Adult Content is labelled as such and lj-cut. For parents who are concerned over their children seeing the Adult Content in this community, we implore you to do the following:


  • INSTALL Parental Controls on your Home Computer. Here is a list of popular Parental Control programs that you can install on your computer (and here is another one, more appropriately named for a Harry Potter community: Snitch 2.0). Stop being utterly lazy/using the excuse that "your children know more about how to use/install/bypass these programs". YOU need to learn how to use your own computer if you're truly concerned about parenting your kids properly and keeping them safe from what you don't want them to see.
  • MONITOR your child's online activity--because we cannot. We can only go sofar with written warnings; neither we nor LJ staff are capable of physically pulling your kid off of your computer. You, however, can install your own monitoring on yor computer. Do not count on others--namely us or LJ--to be your kid's babysitter.Keylogging will enable you to monitor each and every move your child makes (and there are many more programs than the one in the contained link). Of course, keylogging is not the perfect substitute for in-person "Hey, whatcha doin'?"-type observation.
  • EXPLAIN to your child the whats and why of what you believe is inappropriate viewing. Let's say that your child does accidentally come across something questionable (either here or elsewhere online). Instead of gasping in shock and screaming in horror, if the child has questions, answer them calmly and rationally. A good example would be "I don't believe that you are at the age where you can fully comprehend what you've seen kiddo, but if you have any questions about it I'll try to answer them for you." See? Is that so hard?


You can do these simple things if you are truly committed to being involved in your child's life. Do not make excuses anymore--being proactive saves everyone a lot of energy and hassle. Thank you for yor cooperation.


We post a lot. Some people don't like us clogging up their friends list, others don't mind. Whether you chose to add us to your friends list or not, for whatever reason, check back to the journal page itself because we comment a lot. Want to keep yourself up to speed. You never know when comment sex or amusing comment flames will happen. You don't want to miss it. [2007] We used to comment alot. Hopefully, with the new rules and successful implementation of safety standards, we can bring back the era of community interaction.

If you have any questions, bug the mods. We don't mind well thought out questions/complaints. Making us mad does nothing except make us mad. Flames? Just amused. We have no official warning system like some communities do, so just try to be smart and use a little common sense and things will work out just fine. We are Evil Dictator Mods™, we do run this place and while we don't like kicking people out, we have the right to and will if need be. Same goes for removing posts.
