Obama’s Communist Mentor

AIM Column  |  By Cliff Kincaid  |  February 18, 2008

Is “coalition politics” at work in Obama’s rise to power?

In his biography of Barack Obama, David Mendell writes about Obama's life as a "secret smoker" and how he "went to great lengths to conceal the habit." But what about Obama's secret political life? It turns out that Obama's childhood mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, was a communist.

In his books, Obama admits attending "socialist conferences" and coming into contact with Marxist literature. But he ridicules the charge of being a "hard-core academic Marxist," which was made by his colorful and outspoken 2004 U.S. Senate opponent, Republican Alan Keyes.

However, through Frank Marshall Davis, Obama had an admitted relationship with someone who was publicly identified as a member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA). The record shows that Obama was in Hawaii from 1971-1979, where, at some point in time, he developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis, listening to his "poetry" and getting advice on his career path. But Obama, in his book, Dreams From My Father, refers to him repeatedly as just "Frank."

The reason is apparent: Davis was a known communist who belonged to a party subservient to the Soviet Union. In fact, the 1951 report of the Commission on Subversive Activities to the Legislature of the Territory of Hawaii identified him as a CPUSA member. What's more, anti-communist congressional committees, including the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC), accused Davis of involvement in several communist-front organizations.

Trevor Loudon, a New Zealand-based libertarian activist, researcher and blogger, noted evidence that "Frank" was Frank Marshall Davis in a posting in March of 2007.

Obama's communist connection adds to mounting public concern about a candidate who has come out of virtually nowhere, with a brief U.S. Senate legislative record, to become the Democratic Party frontrunner for the U.S. presidency. In the latest Real Clear Politics poll average, Obama beats Republican John McCain by almost four percentage points.

AIM recently disclosed that Obama has well-documented socialist connections, which help explain why he sponsored a "Global Poverty Act" designed to send hundreds of billions of dollars of U.S. foreign aid to the rest of the world, in order to meet U.N. demands. The bill has passed the House and a Senate committee, and awaits full Senate action.

But the Communist Party connection through Davis is even more ominous. Decades ago, the CPUSA had tens of thousands of members, some of them covert agents who had penetrated the U.S. Government. It received secret subsidies from the old Soviet Union.

You won't find any of this discussed in the David Mendell book, Obama: From Promise to Power. It is typical of the superficial biographies of Obama now on the market. Secret smoking seems to be Obama's most controversial activity. At best, Mendell and the liberal media describe Obama as "left-leaning."

But you will find it briefly discussed, sort of, in Obama's own book, Dreams From My Father. He writes about "a poet named Frank," who visited them in Hawaii, read poetry, and was full of "hard-earned knowledge" and advice. Who was Frank? Obama only says that he had "some modest notoriety once," was "a contemporary of Richard Wright and Langston Hughes during his years in Chicago..." but was now "pushing eighty." He writes about "Frank and his old Black Power dashiki self" giving him advice before he left for Occidental College in 1979 at the age of 18.

This "Frank" is none other than Frank Marshall Davis, the black communist writer now considered by some to be in the same category of prominence as Maya Angelou and Alice Walker. In the summer/fall 2003 issue of African American Review, James A. Miller of George Washington University reviews a book by John Edgar Tidwell, a professor at the University of Kansas, about Davis's career, and notes, "In Davis's case, his political commitments led him to join the American Communist Party during the middle of World War II-even though he never publicly admitted his Party membership." Tidwell is an expert on the life and writings of Davis.

Is it possible that Obama did not know who Davis was when he wrote his book, Dreams From My Father, first published in 1995? That's not plausible since Obama refers to him as a contemporary of Richard Wright and Langston Hughes and says he saw a book of his black poetry.

The communists knew who "Frank" was, and they know who Obama is. In fact, one academic who travels in communist circles understands the significance of the Davis-Obama relationship.

Professor Gerald Horne, a contributing editor of the Communist Party journal Political Affairs, talked about it during a speech last March at the reception of the Communist Party USA archives at the Tamiment Library at New York University. The remarks are posted online under the headline, "Rethinking the History and Future of the Communist Party."

Horne, a history professor at the University of Houston, noted that Davis, who moved to Honolulu from Kansas in 1948 "at the suggestion of his good friend Paul Robeson," came into contact with Barack Obama and his family and became the young man's mentor, influencing Obama's sense of identity and career moves. Robeson, of course, was the well-known black actor and singer who served as a member of the CPUSA and apologist for the old Soviet Union. Davis had known Robeson from his time in Chicago.

As Horne describes it, Davis "befriended" a "Euro-American family" that had "migrated to Honolulu from Kansas and a young woman from this family eventually had a child with a young student from Kenya East Africa who goes by the name of Barack Obama, who retracing the steps of Davis eventually decamped to Chicago."

It was in Chicago that Obama became a "community organizer" and came into contact with more far-left political forces, including the Democratic Socialists of America, which maintains close ties to European socialist groups and parties through the Socialist International (SI), and two former members of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), William Ayers and Carl Davidson.

The SDS laid siege to college campuses across America in the 1960s, mostly in order to protest the Vietnam War, and spawned the terrorist Weather Underground organization. Ayers was a member of the terrorist group and turned himself in to authorities in 1981. He is now a college professor and served with Obama on the board of the Woods Fund of Chicago. Davidson is now a figure in the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, an offshoot of the old Moscow-controlled CPUSA, and helped organize the 2002 rally where Obama came out against the Iraq War.

Both communism and socialism trace their roots to Karl Marx, co-author of the Communist Manifesto, who endorsed the first meeting of the Socialist International, then called the "First International." According to Pierre Mauroy, president of the SI from 1992-1996, "It was he [Marx] who formally launched it, gave the inaugural address and devised its structure..."

Apparently unaware that Davis had been publicly named as a CPUSA member, Horne said only that Davis "was certainly in the orbit of the CP [Communist Party]-if not a member..."

In addition to Tidwell's book, Black Moods: Collected Poems of Frank Marshall Davis, confirming Davis's Communist Party membership, another book, The New Red Negro: The Literary Left and African American Poetry, 1930-1946, names Davis as one of several black poets who continued to publish in CPUSA-supported publications after the 1939 Hitler-Stalin non-aggression pact. The author, James Edward Smethurst, associate professor of Afro-American studies at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, says that Davis, however, would later claim that he was "deeply troubled" by the pact.

While blacks such as Richard Wright left the CPUSA, it is not clear if or when Davis ever left the party.

However, Obama writes in Dreams From My Father that he saw "Frank" only a few days before he left Hawaii for college, and that Davis seemed just as radical as ever. Davis called college "An advanced degree in compromise" and warned Obama not to forget his "people" and not to "start believing what they tell you about equal opportunity and the American way and all that ####." Davis also complained about foot problems, the result of "trying to force African feet into European shoes," Obama wrote.

For his part, Horne says that Obama's giving of credit to Davis will be important in history. "At some point in the future, a teacher will add to her syllabus Barack's memoir and instruct her students to read it alongside Frank Marshall Davis' equally affecting memoir, Living the Blues and when that day comes, I'm sure a future student will not only examine critically the Frankenstein monsters that US imperialism created in order to subdue Communist parties but will also be moved to come to this historic and wonderful archive in order to gain insight on what has befallen this complex and intriguing planet on which we reside," he said.

Dr. Kathryn Takara, a professor of Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa who also confirms that Davis is the "Frank" in Obama's book, did her dissertation on Davis and spent much time with him between 1972 until he passed away in 1987.

In an analysis posted online, she notes that Davis, who was a columnist for the Honolulu Record, brought "an acute sense of race relations and class struggle throughout America and the world" and that he openly discussed subjects such as American imperialism,  colonialism and exploitation. She described him as a "socialist realist" who attacked the work of the House Un-American Activities Committee.

Davis, in his own writings, had said that Robeson and Harry Bridges, the head of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and a secret member of the CPUSA, had suggested that he take a job as a columnist with the Honolulu Record "and see if I could do something for them." The ILWU was organizing workers there and Robeson's contacts were "passed on" to Davis, Takara writes.

Takara says that Davis "espoused freedom, radicalism, solidarity, labor unions, due process, peace, affirmative action, civil rights, Negro History week, and true Democracy to fight imperialism, colonialism, and white supremacy. He urged coalition politics."

Is "coalition politics" at work in Obama's rise to power?

Trevor Loudon, the New Zealand-based blogger who has been analyzing the political forces behind Obama and specializes in studying the impact of Marxist and leftist political organizations, notes that Frank Chapman, a CPUSA supporter, has written a letter to the party newspaper hailing the Illinois senator's victory in the Iowa caucuses.

"Obama's victory was more than a progressive move; it was a dialectical leap ushering in a qualitatively new era of struggle," Chapman wrote. "Marx once compared revolutionary struggle with the work of the mole, who sometimes burrows so far beneath the ground that he leaves no trace of his movement on the surface. This is the old revolutionary ‘mole,' not only showing his traces on the surface but also breaking through."

Let's challenge the liberal media to report on this. Will they have the honesty and integrity to do so?

James first of all why start out with “You are an idiot.”? Are his facts incorrect? What part of the whole thing would you have him report on? The story was about Obamas communist associations.

If the facts are correct then I think we need to know more about what kind of agenda Obama has for our country.

James B, please dispense with the AD Hominem personal attacks. They are not warranted and not allowed.

Barry, I mean Barack Obama(Obama once went by Barry because he was ashamed of Barack) has went to Trinity UNited Church of Christ, for years.

TUCC teaches Black Liberation Theology, which was built from Marxist Liberation Theology.

Who really cares if Barack Obama is a communist or socialist?  Compared to the last 7 long years of having this idiotic moronic bloodthirsty murderous corrupt pathologically-lying sociopathic demonic fascist slimeball known as Dumbya in the White House, America would be well served to have a large amount of corrective action put in place by a communist or socialist.  The simple fact is that President Cheney and his little dummy have easily been the worst leaders this country has ever had, and certainly ever will (arguable the worst in world history).  I mean they even make Adolph Hitler look like a great guy.  At least Hitler took care of his own people.  You can’t even say that about Dictator Bush.  I doubt you’ll ever find anyone more universally despised across the universe than George W. Bush.  He has become so mentally deranged that today he even said we’re not in a recession.

With an over 80% unapproval rate, I bet he’ll be on the phone soon to his old friend Jimmyjeff.  You know… the bald guy who pretended to be a journalist by going to a weekend seminar, then got a job working for a reich-wing kkkonservative website and then suddenly, magically, got a White House Press Room pass… something that even real journalists who’ve been working politics for years can’t even get… and was then exposed as a reich-wing Repugnican shill.  What was his name again??? Oh yeah… that’s right.  It was Jeff Gannon.  You remember him… the guy with the website who is a gay prostitute and full naked photos of himself and the services he provides other men.  And only men.  Anyway… with all this stress on ol’ psycho George, I bet he’ll be calling up Jimmyjeff for another one of his special massages with “happy ending” soon.
And gee now that I think about it, wasn’t it strange how the media suddenly dropped this story like a hot potato?  Almost as strange as all the coverups surrounding 9-11.

Anyway, today I was reading that the poverty level in the U.S. is artificially set at just $10,000 per year.  However, if you become permanently disabled through no fault of your own and can no longer work, you will receive an average of $600 per month to live on (assuming you can even pass the tough test of being deemed disabled, which I hear is a lot harder than the TV commericials make it look).  Now then, if there is no housing available within 50-75 miles below $500,000, then how does one live on $600 per month?

So they move?  OK how? (And what if they’ve lived in their area their entire lives??) In order to qualify for disability you cannot have assets totalling more than $2,000. TOTAL.  That includes a car.  So tell me how a disabled person is supposed to live on $600 per month then?  And if they’re supposed to move, how do they do it?  Movers cost money, and a disabled person can’t move their own things, obviously.  So what do they do, become homeless?  I guess that’s what you Rethugnican fascists want.  Kinda funny when we’re supposed to be the greatest country on the planet.  The home of the free and the brave.  Justice for all.  Bwaahahahahahahaha!!

In European Union countries though, they set their poverty rate not artificially as we do in the U.S., they set it according to 60% of average median income.  Now THAT is realistic.  If the average annual income is $30,000, then a disabled person would receive $24,000 per year to live on.  That’s workable.

$600 per month is an obscene gesture like a kick in the teeth to someone when they’re down.  And it’s especially revolting considering we’re the richest country on the planet and in the history of the world, particularly when the latest cost estimates of the boondoggle in Iraq are running at $1 to $1.5 trillion, and counting.

So, I’m all for Barack and think flushing George Bush-style capitalism down the toilet into the cesspit of history is a fantastic idea.  After reading this article, I’d be even MORE inclined to vote for Obama now!

Hey Sagacious, you’re full of S#*T, and most (98%)of Americans do give a rat’s ass if a communist / socialist even comes close to the White House. Historically what is a leftist? Answer… communist / socialist / fascist /dictator.

The democrats are socialist and Joe McCarthy was right when he warned America that we have an enemy within.

People like yourself are the ones who are bitter and unhappy with America, and since you seem to favor the European Union, then pack your stuff and leave the USA and denounce your American citizenship and join them. You might consider getting some guns and religion to take with you.

By the way, you’re a typical liberal who won’t post with your real name.

Axelrod’s strategy has been to promote a personality, not issues. Perhaps this is why Obama’s campaign speeches have been more like Saturday Night Live Matt Foley motivational speeches than serious attempts to lay out what an Obama presidency would mean to our nation. Massachusetts voters are learning the folly of voting for a personality rather than sound policies and a plan. (This isn’t to discount the importance of character or personality in a political candidate, but the candidate should state what he’s going to do when elected – not simply give motivational speeches.)

Sagacious,

You are an ill-informed, angry excuse for an American. There is so much in you diatribe that I could attack but I will keep it to your point on the poverty level being “artificially set” at 10k.

First of all it isn’t set at 10k, you ignorant Marxist. It is “updated annually for inflation using the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U).” Quoted from the US Census bureau.

That poverty level also does not take into consideration any government benefits that do not come in the form of cash. Food stamps, rent subsidies and the like are not included - you ridiculous Leninist.

Most government programs use different, higher, poverty measures for determination of benefit qualification but a Trotsky-ite wouldn’t want to know that. It might interfere with his anger and smugness.

So you ask how could a person who became disabled “through no fault of their own” survive on $600/month? I have plenty of answers but I will start with this simple one - they could have planned for it!!

I have. It’s called disability insurance. I have taken personal responsibility for my own well being, and that of my family, by insuring against this unfortunate occurrance. I believe that my personal financial well being is my responsibility and don’t think that I should expect the government to force anyone to support me (and in turn me to support anyone else I choose not to - that’s called charity you thieving, arogant excuse for a human.)

The United States was founded under the premise that all men were created equal, that all men would have the same opportunities to succedd OR to fail. It was founded under the premise that what is ours is ours and that government shouldn’t take from one group to give to another.
We are all free to be what we want and to earn what we want or don’t want.

We are not free to legislate that mine is yours and yours is yours and the elite govenment officials who decide such things are nothing more than what you are - a Marxist.

I’d suggest you go live under a Marxist regime and see how well your Utopia ends up feeling, but you’d better hurry they ain’t many of those around any longer and what they built is crumbling to the ground faster than a sand castle at high tide.

So go vote for your communist friend Obama. Perhaps he can promise to give you my money in larger chunks than Hillary can. Problem is when it’s all gone you won’t get a thing then who will you cry to? Stalin?

There are things in the article - plus all of the remarks that I agree with. I’m not really “hip” on many political happenings - but I’m going to vote for Obama, simply to give the “other side” a chance to either screw us up more - or possibly to make things a little better. Hopefully, it will be the “make things a little better”.  Everyone has things in their past- that they wouldn’t think of doing in their later years. Many of the things I believed in during my middle age years - I do not believe in those things now. People change in their thinking - either from experience or from personal happenings.  I’m 80 years old now - and therefore going to give someone a chance that at least “talks the talk” to give Americans some hope of an improved life. Only time will tell.

Life is funny.  We should forget politics and think of one simple thing, no matter wheather you think global warming is real or not, the kinetic energy that we constantly add to the atmosphere is real!! 25 mile wide tornantos should prove that to anyone!  With this happening sooner or later this will destabilize the ocean hydrates and we will really have global warming! OH! Something like 25 to 30 degrees c. inside six months at the very least.  So the question becomes does our political structures as they function now with self-interest the most driving force good enough.  Most the brain-dead people in Washington would need hearings and comittees and still it would not be enough.
It is our choice!  Do you love this country more than you hate black people? Or do you hate black people more than you love this country? That is the only question there is in this election!

Steve from Texas is either a liar or an idiot.  Probably both. He says leftists are “communist / socialist / fascist /dictator”.

This is a typical, scurrilous lie of the right wing… trying to confuse liberals with those other groups. He and anyone else who believes this should do themselves a favor and look up the definition of ‘liberal’ in the dictionary.  You won’t see anything at all relating to what is in your uninformed little mind.

However, Joe McCarthy was right though when he warned America that we have an enemy within.  They’re called Republicans.  And America needs to be purged of these filthy crooks, liars, hypocrites and fascist pig Republicans and the sooner the better.

Here, choke on this:

Howdy Rob, here’s some definitions for you of “liberal”
#1 favorable to progress or reform as in political or religious affairs.
#2 pretaining to a political party advocating measures of progressive political reform
#3 free from prejudice or bigotry, tolerant
#4 open-minded or tolerant not bound by traditional or conventional ideas or values.
Now politically speaking liberals don’t seem to measure up to their own definition. They are far from “tolerant” of conservative ideas and values.
liberals don’t come close to being “open-minded” of traditionalist religious and political values.
liberals are “prejudice and completely bigotrious” towards anyone other than themselves, because it’s their way or no way. “Progresssives” as they perfer to be called as opposed to “liberals” are constantly “reforming” themselves to the point of not having a sense of conventional wisdom.
One of the most defining traits of a liberal is name calling, because they don’t know how to win the debate and when confronted straight up on an issue they slip, weave, dodge and make a progressive move completely away from confrontation.
Rob, try looking up what I consider is a accurate definition of a liberal, “passive-aggressive” and you might inform yourself on who you are. Us “Nutjobs from Texas” are always willing to help the misinformed and political therapy is readily available.
As far as the late Senator Joe McCarthy is concerned, you might consider the fact he was hunting communist/socalist/leftist who were in our goverment, military and Liberalwood Mexifornia.
Hey by the way, aren’t Hugo and Castro leftist? The idea of “purging” America of anyone who disagrees with the left reminds me of another famous person named Satlin, wasn’t he a leftist as well.
Now try chocking on another word to look up “idiot or liar” which ever you perfer, and that is Nationalist. I’ll be waiting for your reply here in the Great State of TEXAS.

Steve from Texas

Hey, wait a cotton pick’n minute! After counting the names that Rob threw at me I think he should be dafted to pitch for the Boston Red Sox. He threw one sly curve “liar or idiot” two 99mph fasty “crooks & hypocrits” a sinker “fascist pig” and topped it off with two more sly curves “liar & nutjob from Texas”

Now that’s very typical of a far-left leftist, socialist, communist, liberal. But like we Texans say down here in the Great State of TEXAS, that’s expected from the lefties and we don’t mind, I’m sure Rob has been called worse.

By way Rob, that word you used “kakistocratism” is NOT found in the dictionary, it must be another liberal stick or stone to throw.

I’ll make a bet with you pal, after you look up the word Nationalist you’ll call me a nazi.

The facts are indeed mischaracterized. Read chapters 4-5 of “Dreams from My Father” to get the full picture, but here’s a quick summary.

Frank wasn’t a “father figure” or mentor, but a friend of Barack’s grandfather. The two of them were both from Wichita, Kansas although they didn’t know each other until they met in Hawaii. Obama was writing about the various people he knew growing up, each of whom had their own view of racial issues. Frank talked about the old days of Jim Crow in Kansas. What Obama thought about Frank’s view was this:
“It made me smile, thinking back on Frank and his old Black Power, dashiki self. In some ways he was as incurable as my mother, as certain in his faith, living in the same sixties time warp that Hawaii had created.”

In other words, Frank hadn’t moved on. Obama recognized that Frank’s world no longer existed, although Frank didn;t see that.

NOW do you get it?

I haven’t trusted Obama from day 1.  I wanted to know where did he come from and who was behind him.  I have had many great reservations aabout his “truthfulness.” If you spend any time undertanding human nature, you know that people will tell you what you want to hear or what they want you to know.  With all of this money I see behind Obama, I question who is he the front man for?  A colition would make sense.  If you look at his website, you can see it took some planning and someone skilled to set up not to mention the cost.  Then every day I get junk mail to vote for Obama which is not cheap.  Next, everytime I go online there are Obama pop ups and ads every where.  Money is being spent like crazy.  I have never seen such a push to get someone nominated.  The man Obama is not a very good speaker.  He hesitates because the words he uses are not truly his.  When Obama actually speaks using his words, he sounds more like a preacher.  He focuses on change and the American dream.  Unfortunately, what we the people perceive as change, not politics as usual, and what is truly within the Obama agenda my not be the same.  What Obama says about change and the American dream could be an underlayment for socialism and communism.  Change from a democracy is evident and having it so every one can be the same is a no brainer also.
Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it.

What a bunch of spin! Davis wasn’t a mentor and he wasn’t a father figure - just an old guy who played cards and drank whiskey with Barack’s grandfather, talked about Jim Crow in Kansas in the old days, and didn’t seem to notice the world had moved on.

From Wikipedia (all but the last sentences from material in Barack Obama’s “Dreams from My Father” chapters 4 and 5):
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Marshall_Davis
In his autobiographical Dreams from My Father, US senator and Democratic party presidential candidate Barack Obama writes of “Frank”, a friend of his grandfather’s (they grew up 50 miles apart, near Wichita, although they didn’t know each other then), who told him about the days of Jim Crow in Kansas. Frank told Obama that college was about “leaving your race at the door, leaving your people behind” and being trained, not educated. As Obama remembered, “It made me smile, thinking back on Frank and his old Black Power, dashiki self. In some ways he was as incurable as my mother, as certain in his faith, living in the same sixties time warp that Hawaii had created."[15] This “Frank” was Davis.

hello all i just read this thread today. im not one that knows alot about politics but earlier it was said that liberals are or at least partialy have socialist or communistic tendencies.

obama aside, which i believe has an agenda that does not reflect american values, hillary said the other night that she would lower the price of gas in thee now by taking away the federal tax per gallon. to keep this revenue for the gov. she would then tax the oil companies profits.

i know this sounds good right? i dnt believe it is though. if we start down the road of taking from the rich and giving to the poor then we are heading down a road that leads to wealth redistribution arent we? am i wrong? i know the oil companies are making record profits but dnt we live in a capatalistic free market society?

look leftist liberals believe in more government and more governmental control. they tell you you have to wear a seat belt, you have to get rid of your firearms, they tell us we need national health care, we need to change the constitution to be “up” with the times, we cant drill for oil, we cant build nuclear power plants (which may be the greenest energy available), and in general i think they would like us to ask if we may go to the restroom so they can allow that too.

i know im jumping around but im tired and just got off work.

thats right i work. im not rich i dont own a business. i work for 11 bucks an hour and my wife is still in school. im one of those guys who is suppose to love what liberals are saying. because i believe they want people like me (working class) to feel bad that i have to work. im suppose to be mad because other people have things i dont. im suppose to hate people for being succesful. i believe they want people like me to be sucked into marxist ideals and theology. that those who have should give to those who dont. that the government should tell people what they should be able to make. and that the governmet should have total control over every aspect of life. well i dont.

and as for firearms. if we did ban handguns do you think it would stop there? no then it would be rifles then shotguns and then any firearm in general. then who is the only one with firearms? yup the government. the right to bear arms given by the constitution was meant as a means to overthrow a government that has gone astray. now i mean bad off not just that you dont agree with some small issue. but if no one had guns it would make it a bit easier to institute control by the ones who do have guns.

enough of my ranting i appologize if i offended anyone.

intuitive confirmation, and all,
I’ll tell you where all that money comes from.  People like me.  There’s about 1.5 million of us who have contributed to his campaign so far.  He takes no money from PACs or lobbyists.
If you want to know his agenda go to his website and download the 70 page pdf document which outlines every issue.  There’s nothing very radical about his positions and certainly nothing that any rational person would call “socialist”.
This guy is the real deal.  He will work across party lines and try to make sure that working people get what they deserve.  He can begin to restore our badly damaged reputation in the world.
McCain’s platform is cut taxes and bomb Iran.  What’s better for you and your country?

I think Barack HUSSEIN Obama is a communist/muslim that is working against our country in the long run… I do not trust him as far as i could throw him… I also think this communist “Frank” had an impact on Osama Obama, just like his two muslim fathers, and if it didnt like some of you say why did Obama go to a church, for 20 plus years, that the pastor is against America, America’s ways, and he also says the government spread the AIDS virus to the black people ( which is bulls**t in my opion).. Obama says he never heard it before i am sorry if you go to a church you go because of what they preach, especially if you go to the same church and pastor for that long… It is also funny how osama obama denounced his long time pastor when it began hurting him in the race.. Those are just a few things that push me away from him and make me not trust him.. His is secreative and acts like he is hideing something that he doesnt want us to find out…

This is the problem, all of you are believing what he says in his books. Do your own research on people like Ayers, Davis, and Wright. They have all admittedly been members of socialist groups and wings of the CPUSA(Communist Party of the USA). Obama is indeed a communist via his ideals, and his policies are proof of that. For a black man to marry a white jewish woman in the sixties was forbidden by almost all societies, expect the communist party who admittedly and intentionally planned to “poison the blood of American purity”. Obama’s grandfather did not just move from Kansas to Hawaii, he was blackballed by the government and sent from the mainland. But that’s not in his book, so it must not be true. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH!

Obama went to church for twenty years, with a crazy preacher who offends white people, so O’bama has to be bad also, then don’t forget he is a muslim too!!!!  Ha Ha what great logic, what large minds.  The question still remains the same do you hate black people more than you love this country.  But you really are not smart enough to understand a question like this.  You think that this question is about me when it is about you.  Simply put so that every one of you out there can under-stand this.  There our white people who just don’t like black people.  There are black people who just don’t like white people.  In the past when a black person who really doesn’t like white people, had to vote, a lot of them put their racist views aside a vote for the person who they thought was best for the country.  Now the shoe is on the other foot! You may not like it or be pist-off about it, but the simple fact is
Right now in this race for president, the only person who stands a half-assed chance of fixing this country is a Black man. And no more of the bullshit muti cutural stuff, All of my life anyone who had one single drop of black blood was considered black. And if you really from Texas I shouldn’t have to write this.  But live in denial if you want and watch our country go down the tube because so many people in this country can’t get past race and really look at the issues for what they are.  As a black man I can tell you that some times it is hard. The best example is having to vote for Bill Clinton, knowing full well that he was and is so much of a racist that he let over a million black people get murdered in Rewanda and did nothing, because at the time I thought he was best for this country.  I flat out don’t like Bush, but I know he would never let something like that happen.  The truth is the truth.  Some white people will never like black people, some black people will never like white people, forget the reasons or if either one is right, the question is - Does the Health of our country come first, or does our race!

Do you, Mr. Black Man, do you hate White people more than you love “Our” nation?

Your insults about “not being smart enough to understand” only shows your racism towards Whites. So now you answer the question stated above since you’re smart enough to understand it.

Racism is Worldwide and not just between races of different colors or just in America. There’s racism in Asia, the Middle East, between Muslims, in Europe and North & South America. It’s a natural thing with human beings.

Back to Obama, so he’s your savior for the country? So how much can this rookie, junior politcian which happens to be black really do when he has so little experience? On the job training, maybe his friends will guide him through and his wife will hold his hand.

As far as Rewanda, that was an African thing, black on black killing just like in Durfar. Let’s see black leaders like the Rev White, Jackson & Sharpton lead the way to stop the killing.

Most people will always perfer their own race, it’s natural. And yes I am really from the Great State of TEXAS.

Tradition has it your enemy can be swayed over to your side by co-opting him.  Take your average communist give him sway in the political process, wealth, prestige; then he will abandon the error of his ways.  Even better if he has to work to get where he is.  Those that seek to make the man seem more different that he already is (a rich elitist) should point to the changes he has wrought in Illinois, that hotbed of Muslo-Marxist

Where does the record show that Obama “developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis”?

“AIM recently disclosed that Obama has well-documented socialist connections, which help explain why he sponsored a “Global Poverty Act” designed to send hundreds of billions of dollars of U.S. foreign aid to the rest of the world, in order to meet U.N. demands. The bill has passed the House and a Senate committee, and awaits full Senate action.”

That’s one of the more outrageous and blatantly untrue characterizations I’ve heard of the act… why would you lie??? Are you just repeating talking points you’ve gotten from someone else, simply not bothered to read and learn the details of the bill or both?

In reviewing the referenced transcript of Gerald Horne’s speech, I can find no evidence to substantiate your contention that “Horne noted” that Davis became Obama’s “mentor,” nor evidence that “Horne noted” that Davis influenced Obama’s “career moves.”

It appears that the basic article may be falsely attributing these to Gerald Horne’s speech.  Coupled with the author’s unsubstantiated contention that the “record shows” that Obama “developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis,” such false attributions suggest that other aspects of his article may warrant closer scrutiny.

In view of AIM’s motto regarding “fairness, balance and accuracy in news reporting,” perhaps further clarification may be in order.

The vitriol from the left-leaning posters here makes me wonder about their veracity, let alone their questionable “sagacity”.  However, in the words of Tom Jefferson: “Let them stand undisturbed as monuments to the safety with which error of opinion may be tolerated, where reason is left free to combat it.”

There may be weakness in the argument that Barry-O is a Marxist simply because of his limited ties to Frank Davis.  However, when looked at holistically, his interactions with Davis, combined with a veritable parade of other leftist characters, unproud wives, party bosses, racist spiritual mentors, and terrorist bombers may give the (truly) sagacious pause—or at least those who care about the future liberty of this country.

In Texas, we might call Barry-O a Tree Turtle.  If you ever see a turtle in a tree, you know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he is up there, and you wonder who put him up there, and why.

Good point, John, and eloquently presented!

I believe, however, that while professional advocates (such as defense attorneys) may be justified in stacking the evidence or exaggerating to make a point, those who claim to support “fairness, balance, and accuracy” are held to a higher standard of integrity - as ex-D.A. Nifong discovered in the Duke Lacrosse case.

To whom it may concern or the person above

......these are the words of Gerald Horne:

When these sources are explored, I think scholars of the future will be struck by, for example, the response in Honolulu when tens of thousands of workers went on strike when labor and CP leaders were convicted of Smith Act violations in 1953 – a response totally unlike the response on the mainland. Of course 98% of these workers were of Asian-Pacific ancestry, which suggests that scholars have also been derelict in analyzing why these workers were less anti-communist than their Euro-American counterparts. In any case, deploring these convictions in Hawaii was an African-American poet and journalist by the name of Frank Marshall Davis, who was certainly in the orbit of the CP – if not a member – and who was born in Kansas and spent a good deal of his adult life in Chicago, before decamping to Honolulu in 1948 at the suggestion of his good friend Paul Robeson. Eventually, he befriended another family – a Euro-American family – that had migrated to Honolulu from Kansas and a young woman from this family eventually had a child with a young student from Kenya East Africa who goes by the name of Barack Obama, who retracing the steps of Davis eventually decamped to Chicago. In his best selling memoir ‘Dreams of my Father’, the author speaks warmly of an older black poet, he identifies simply as “Frank” as being a decisive influence in helping him to find his present identity as an African-American, a people who have been the least anticommunist and the most left-leaning of any constituency in this nation – though you would never know it from reading so-called left journals of opinion. At some point in the future, a teacher will add to her syllabus Barack’s memoir and instruct her students to read it alongside Frank Marshall Davis’ equally affecting memoir, “Living the Blues” and when that day comes, I’m sure a future student will not only examine critically the Frankenstein monsters that US imperialism created in order to subdue Communist parties but will also be moved to come to this historic and wonderful archive in order to gain insight on what has befallen this complex and intriguing planet on which we reside.

Thanks for the post, Mr. Nobody.

The post confirms that Horne noted that Davis influenced Obama’s “sense of identity” as an African-American, as reported by Cliff Kincaid.

The post does not seem to confirm, however, Kincaid’s assertion that that Horne noted that Davis became Obama’s “mentor” nor that Davis influenced Obama’s “career moves.”

The source of Kincaid’s assertion that the record shows that Obama “developed a close relationship, almost like a son, with Davis” is yet to be determined.  What is the source?

Steve from Texas: I`m a 62 year old fellow Texan and a proud supporter of George Wallace, Barry Goldwater, and Ronald Reagan. I heard all the junk spoken about Joe McCarthy so I decicided to do some research of my own. I bought the book by E Stanley Jones about McCarthy and it was an eye opener. Joe McCarthy was and is right. After reading what these brain dead robots said to you and about how great Obama is need to get some brains. Obama and his wife are a danger to America. If the 80 year old man who wrote that he was supporting Obama, I have to ask: sir--what have you done with your life? You`re as brain dead as the other reprobates who support an idiot like Obama. I believe the saying is true"an informed society is a free society”. The screwballs are stupid and mind numb robots who are liberal>socialist>communist>social progressives>democrats!!!!! They are the products of Marxism. I`ve been to the former Soviet Union several times and I can`t begin to describe what marxism has done to those countries. Steve, you`ve done a good job. Stay with it. My great-great grandfather fought with Sam Houston at San Jacinto. Two of my great grandfathers fought with the state of Alabama during the Cilvil War. Only 6 % of white southerners owned slaves and while I can`t understand why the British and Dutch brought these people from their home lands here, I don`t know. To those who hate America and the white race I say” maybe we can arrange to have those who hate us and America some transport back to their native continent. I know most black people here do love America, it`s just the socialists/communists/democrats and fake preachers who preach hate instead of God`s true word. I must say however, in Proverbs ch. 6 it says “God hates those who sow discord among the brethren”. So to those who have trash to speak about our country and to those of us who love America, you are what God hates. Jesus said in Matthew ch. 5 vs. 9 “ blessed are the peacemakers, for they are the sons of God”. I`d like to ask those rebrobates who spoke evil of Steve and America: which category are you in? Are you a sower of discord such as Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson? Or maybe, you`re a peacemaker such as Billy Grahm, Bishop T D Jakes and of course, Creflo Dollar? By the way Steve, I`m also a Vietnam Vet and I greatly appreciate the opportunity to serve and protect my country. God bless you Steve---Kenneth

Kenneth--I AM a university professor, and my training as one is what taught me to think for myself, to do my own research, to separate truth from falsehood from mere speculation.  I read widely, including across the political spectrum (how else do you think I ended up on this blog?), and I cross-check what I read with sources of various stripes across that spectrum.  What are your qualifications?  Where do get your information?  How do you know it’s valid?

Why should you think I’d think well of Stalin?  He was a dictator, which I abhor, and very definitely NOT a communist.  Are you one of those who confuse political and economic systems?  There is a difference, though most people don’t seem to realize it, but then confusing the two has been a capitalist technique for over a century.

If you wonder why I associated you with Hitler, it’s because some of the heroes you cite have strong similarities to him.  Hitler, like George Wallace, was a racist and, like McCarthy, a demogogue.  Like McCarthy, he ruled by fear, and like McCarthy and Stalin, by purges. Many people called before McCarthy’s HUAC were never able to find work again without hiding their identity.  Those who refused to testify against their friends were imprisoned as well as eventually deprived of their livelihood.  That’s a purge.  Despite the divergence in their (at least proclaimed) economic ideologies, politically, Stalin and McCarthy had a great deal in common.

I do, however, agree with you about the mainstream media; that’s why I subscribe to blogs like the Huffington Post.  Why don’t you try it? You seem to believe that you have an open mind, so why not give it a chance to expand a bit further?  Try Slate, too.

Yours in cowardice,

Maureen: I`m a retired postal employee who grew up in the 50`s and 60`s. I was taught history by real history teachers . I can tell by your reading the Huffington Post that you are a liberal/social progressive/ democrat and all the above. I can tell by your statements about Wallace that you do not know anything about the man except what your twisted university professors taught. I met him and attended two of his campaign appearances in Houston, Tx. in 1968. Not one word of hate for any race came out of his mouth. I was there. Ten million people voted for him all accross the country. You know nothing of the man except what your socialist professors told you. They tell you what to think and so you believe it. Wallace spoke a message along the same lines as Reagan in 1968. He was after big goverment and it`s intrusion into our lives. I researched McCarthy also and found out that the people he investigated were either communists or communist sympathyzers. he did not accuse anyone of being communists but asked them under oath to answer whether they were or not. Every one plead the 5th. He also got most of his information from J. Edgar Hoover and also worked alongside the HUAC in their investigations which indicted Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs for treason. I`ve watched countless hours of McCarthy`s hearings on the internet and in Libraries and I found the man to be honest and patriotic. He also had the blessings and friendship of John and Robert Kennedy. Robert almost became his lead investigator which even surprised me. He didn`t purge anyone. By their own association with the CPUSA or their sympathy for that group were they judged to be guilty by association. My older brothers and sisters listened to many of the hearings on radio and they have the same conclusion. Now concernining Stalin and Hitler--You asked me if Hitler is my hero. I told you he has been judged by God for his crimes. Whether the man repented of his sins, I don`t know. By the way, do you believe in God or the Lord Jesus Christ? I have been to Ukraine 10 times in the last 5 years as a missionary. The citizens there at first thought Hitler was freeing them from the tyrannical rule of the Communists. In 1935 to 1937 era, Stalin starved 6 million Ukrainians to death. The Germans murdered 7 million. At the same time in the rest of the Soviet Union Stalin had as many as 20 million christians murdered. I`ve met many of the widows and children that managed to escape the murders. In Warsaw, Poland there is a saying- “Hitler has killed his thousands and Stalin has killed his 10 thousands”.This is what McCarthy was trying to warn us about. They wanted to dominate the world and still do. However, now they call themselves social progressives or liberal democrats. Evidentily, you liberals who get your daily marching orders from the Huffington Post, NY Times, CNN,MSNBC, CBS, the LA Times all think along the same lines. I don`t know how old you are but I was there when a lot of this happened. It is also apparent you may have sympathy for the communists in the world or else you wouldn`t be spewing out their proaganda. I watch Fox News, listen to Rush Limbaugh, Dr. James Dobson, Sean Hannity, e.t.c. I also read historical books written before 1950. I also spend many hours a week studying the Bible for in it are all the answers to life upon which our country was established. I know most of the socialist/democrats believe in same sex marriage, taking prayer and Bible reading out of school, removing the Ten Commandments from public buidings and so forth. Maybe thats where your feelings lie.Marueen, do you ever read the Bible or do you even have one? You will need it before long because this is all going to be turned around before long and we`ll have a Theocracy here on earth with Jesus himself ruling this old sin depraved planet. I could write much more but it is time to take my medicine and go to bed-----Kenneth

The HUAU was a branch of the House, not Senate. I`m sure someone in your eduacational training should have made that clear or in your own research you should have understood that--pleasant dreams---Kenneth

Did any of you follow the link in Mr. Kincaid’s article to Dr. Katherine Takara’s piece on Frank Marshall Davis?  It provides an interesting and objective analysis of Davis’s positions, politics, and career following his arrival in Hawaii in 1948.

Please note that Kincaid misquotes Dr. Takara in referring to F. M. Davis as a “socialist realist.” In fact Dr. Takara’s actual words are “social realist,” a significant difference.

While I am not a fan of Senator Obama, his relationship as a boy/teenager with Frank Marshall Davis would have no influence on my decision to vote for him. In the words of the Bard, this is “much ado about nothing.”

Liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its stated intent. Similarly, government bureaucracies never solve problems, they manage them and exacerbate the ones they created by interfering with market forces and processes.
If you want to know what liberals are up to, pay attention to what they accuse the conservatives of.
The amount of wealth in any given area is inversely proportional to the amount of Democrats running it.
Liberalism only succeeds when the public is scared into believing that it will not survive without it.
When liberalism conflicts with reality, reality must give way.
Facts are the enemy of liberalism.
Things are different when you are a Democrat [regarding his allegations of the media’s ignorance towards Democratic scandals and misconduct].
A Liberal is any person for whom two thousand years of human experience and history means nothing now that they are here.
To liberals, intentions are more significant than the outcomes they achieve.
Liberals never think what they are doing is wrong, they only think they haven’t done enough of it yet or it is underfunded.
Quinn’s Laws

“Profiling” is what groups call common sense when they have a problem they don’t want to talk about.
Democrats and liberals do not engage in debate, they try to silence you. If they engaged in debate, they’d lose.
Democrats are political opportunists.
Liberalism is based on unproven and/or disproven theory.
Liberals view the world the way they think it should be, not the way it is.

I am confused about politics.  Used to be there was a list of characteristics for republican as opposed to democrat, and a thing called creeping socialism to look out for.  Now most of the socialist goals have been realised, how come it seems we have a fascist state?  My interest in politics was casual because it didn’t effect me that much, now it seems horrific things are in store no matter how I vote.  Obama is now talking about sacrifices I must make.  This business of him being a closet commie reminds me of the Lyndon B. Johnson story of when he was first running for a minor office.  He suggested to a crony that they circulate the story his opponent had performed unnatural acts with farm animals.  “But Lyndon, you know that’s not true.” “Blank yes, but let’s make the SOB deny it.” A bold stroke of the brush and maybe a little will splatter and stick.

B. Hussein Obama and his mentor Rev. Wright both talk about slavery, and Rev. Wright in particular trash the “white man” for all the woes of the black man.  Why is it that they never mention the FACT that the ARABS kidnapped the black people and sold them into slavery?  They had British and Dutch “Blackbirders” transport 600,000 of them to this country, where they have increased to 40 million!!  Some hardship.  How many black people, excluding those who returned and established Liberia, have gone back to Africa?  How many would go back now?

Steve from Texass isn’t a liar, he’s a victim of far right Christian Fascist brainwashing, bigotry, racism, and homophobia that runs rampant more in the Bushlands of Texass and Floriduh than anywhere else in the USA. Poor Steve suffers from a simpleton’s view of the political landscape in the US. But he shouldn’t feel too bad about that because it’s easy to see the majority of US voters are simpletons as well given Bush even had a 1st term, much less a 2nd…

re Texass Steve in “democrats are socialist”

Based on Hillary and Obama’s public statements, manifestos, interviews and, especially voting records in Congress, along with every Democratic candidate but Kucinich, they’re all ‘right authoritarian’ according to Political Compass, a completely non-partisan organization.  http://politicalcompass.org/usprimaries2008

You’ll see on that page a 4 quadrant Political Compass of the US candidates in a continuum rather than consisting of hard and fast quadrants. The one-dimensional categories of ‘right’ and ‘left’ is simply overly simplistic from rating only the economic and not the social aspects of politics. “Dennis Kucinich and Ralph Nader are depicted on the extreme left in an American context, they would simply be mainstream social democrats within the wider political landscape of Europe. Similarly, Hillary Clinton is popularly perceived as a leftist in the United States while in any other western democracy her record is that of a mainstream conservative.”

On this vastly superior mulit-dimentional view of the Political landscape, note Hitler too is in the fascist ‘right authoritarian’ quadrant and not the fascist [totalitarian] communist left side.  Note also that according to the voting record, speeches, intervies etc., the Right Wing Texass Evangelical Ron Paul, with his following of left and right wing idiotic Paulite Cult, is also not the [Neo or right wing] Libertarian he claimed, but a right authoritarian [a conservative at best]. Liberals in America also are apparently duped quite easily.

re. TexAss Steve in “pack your stuff and leave the USA”

There’s an old flash back in redux to exactly the same false dilemma [a fallacy for those who are rationally challenged] the right wing cold war mongers of the Vietnam era shouted in ‘America, Love It or Leave It”....

As for Steve’s absurd hypocritical rant on what liberals are or are not, like ‘bigotrious’ [must be a word in a bogus TexAss dictionary] it appears Steve, like most in Texas, suffer from Right Wing Authoritarian [RWA] Personality Disorder - A particular personality type drawn to the ideology of fascism.  The RWA personality ‘disorder’ develops from early childhood experiences particularly in dogmatic, and strict authoritarian Christian families.

Social Dominance Orientation (SDO) and Right Wing Authoritarianism (RWA) are well-studied variables in attitudes to measure intergroup dominance and submission to authority, respectively. They are important, and fairly recent developments in the study of psychology, sociology and behavioral science going back to the end of World War II. Then a new field in Behavioral Science to hopefully explain and identify how and why Hitler gained so much support from the German people. They are personality variables perhaps even more relevant now than in Hitler’s Germany to understand the mass psychosis affecting the 10s of millions of muddled minds in the huddled masses of America today.

SDO is associated with racism, warmongering (Pratto, Sidanius, Stallworth & Malle, 1994) and attitudes about women’s rights (Heaven, 1999). Whereas RWA is associated with xenophobia, homophobia and sexism (Altemeyer, 1998; Duckitt, 2001). SDO and RWA together are described as ‘two sides of the same coin’ because the measures are interrelated and non-overlapping as unique predictors of prejudiced attitudes (Altemeyer, 1998). Both SDO and RWA are ‘ideological attitude’ factors in personality.

The authoritarian personality is characterized as conventional, submissive to authority, and aggressive toward deviants and outsiders (Altemeyer, 1981). Most freethinkers can easily recognize this RWA personality that shares similar characteristics or ‘traits’ with the ‘true believer’ from: excessive conformity; submissiveness to authority; intolerance; insecurity; superstition and; ridged, stereotyped thought patterns. All the preceeding characteristics are identified by German sociologist and philosopher, Theodor W. Adorno as traits of an Authoritarian Personality.

Members of large authoritarian groups, regardless if religious, political or fraternal, are to a large degree, externally directed. Their immense need for external direction drives them to join mass movements by the droves to follow a charismatic leader. As long as dependent minded followers believe, their leader can get away with anything. A common hatred, enemy, or devil is essential to the success of both their leaders and their groups characterized by an ‘us versus them’ attitude of bigotry, and hate towards outsiders. Their internal dependence on external group thought and direction is a primary reason they’ve been so successful at imposing authoritarian rule throughout history using a few select faith-based leaders. The most extreme racist hate groups in America like the KKK, Aryan Nation and others, all have a Christian identity that supercedes their bigoted racial supremacy. Right wing political groups in America also have a primary Christian identity that supercedes their underlying right wing political goals.

“High RWAs are not likely to come up with the answers to our global problems. They are far too ethnocentric. Perhaps the most striking aspect of the simulation was how automatically right-wing authoritarians, placed in a room filled with people rather like themselves, still divided the world into small enclaves of ‘Us’ versus the global ‘Them’.” Bob Altmeyer’s conclusion to an experiment including dominating authoritarians [High RWAs] amongst a second group of authoritarian followers in “What Happens When Authoritarians Inherit the Earth? A Simulation”, Analyses of Social Issues and Public Policy, Vol. 3, No. 1, 2003

Perhaps Mike Hersh sums up the RWA personality disorder the best not in the behavioral science sense, but in an empirical or observational style in the following excerpts from his article “What scares right Wingers to the Bone?”

“What scares right wingers to the bone? Freedom. Free speech. Free thoughts. Free people. Why? They feel insecure in an uncertain universe. Right wingers crave order and simplicity, and will impose these things where they are not and should never be. Right wingers are theocrats and pseudo-libertarian Social Darwinists or even fascists who embrace authority and power over the individual. Dissent threatens right wingers’ fragile sense of security. Right wingers’ reverence for authority makes them believe whatever their superiors tell them to believe. Their fear and insecurity make them shun the unknown and prevents them from questioning tradition or thinking in new ways. I’d say right wingers demand that everyone think whatever they think but right wingers don’t think. They listen and obey. Free thinking threatens right wingers. It weakens their precarious hold on their make-believe world.

Right wingers dislike education and they loath science. New information and the uncertainty fostered by the free flow of fresh thinking undermine their sense of stability. They are still in denial about evolution! Right wingers believe superstitions and embrace propaganda. They ignore information that challenges their prejudices and preconceptions. They therefore lack judgment and eschew conception. Right wingers believe in absurd contradictions, impervious to logic or education. Right wingers flock to cults of personality. Right wingers care about their feelings, not facts. Facts must either support rigid right wing beliefs, or else the facts must be wrong. Those who present facts which contradict right wing dogma must be evil.

Right wingers support idiotic, even fatal policies because they place nonsense over knowledge. They believe using condoms increases the chance of pregnancy and STDs. They think racism is OK, but pointing out racism is playing the race card. Poor white male right wingers blame poor non-whites and non-males for the injustices rich white males commit. Right wingers support the policies which comprise class warfare, but whine when anyone demonstrates the injustice of robbing the needy to enrich the greedy. Poor and working class right wingers believe increasing their taxes makes them richer, if Enron and Bill Gates get huge tax cuts. Right wingers support theocracy and fascism — actually craving a unified authority over their lives and even their afterlives! They support censorship. They want to impose their religious views on everyone. They want to punish anyone who strays from the fold. They brutally suppress anyone who questions authority, and they always obey abusive controllers. They are afraid of their own freedom. They are even more afraid of yours.
None of this would really matter, except for the tendency of right wingers to burn books; burn crosses, and burn people at the stake — although they tend not to do that so much any more. Lately they beat to death gays, firebomb nightclubs and women’s clinics, assassinate doctors, and vote for other right wingers. What scares right wingers to the bone? Essays like this, people like me who write them, and people like you who read them and pass them on.”

TO: sagacious,

Surely, your name is self chosen, especially with the liberal/socialist/marxist/commie hate that drools from your backside that you obviously mistake for your mouth.

So, “sagacious”, do tell us.  If a man with TWO Masters Degrees in business and history from Harvard and Yale is as “dumb” as you drool, that must surely mean that only someone with a minimum of THREE Masters Degrees can be even mildly intelligent, correct?

We’d all just love to hear about YOUR educational accomplishments, realizing of course, that you have the minimum THREE Masters Degrees to place yourself in the sub-moronic category according to your “definition”.

This is personally directed to adnihilo, an extremely typical leftist liberal.

Why in the hell did your mother give you such an idiotic name or did you conjure it up yourself?

As far as being a victim or suffering from anything, I’ll admit I am a victim of immature name calling from liberals like you. I do suffer from liberal policies that have almost destroyed the America I grew up in.

But my Christian faith keeps me strong enough to over come the hatred from people like you. I can see your religion is humanism.

With your insults to the state of Texas and Florida you are only showing your ass and it’s easy to see that you have a lot of hate and bitterness deep inside your soul and I pity you.

Like I said in previous comments that you have read, you are the definition of the angry leftist who can’t seem to understand that democracy requires democratic political and social equality for all people of both sides of the political spectrum. Leftist liberals try their best to make conservatives and traditionalist “feel” guilty of their values and beliefs and emotion is their tool to gain favor with the unsuspecting naive mind.

You spout off all your school taught disinformation that you yourself believe and it seems that you don’t have anything else better to do.Try taking it easy, you might enjoy life a little more.

I’m not going to bother with addressing all your bullshit because most rational people don’t know about that stuff and don’t have a need for it. But there are those who are constantly looking for meaning in their lives and you are definitely one of those unfortunate fools.

It seems to me that you are a black woman who has spent too much time in school and you have deep racism in your heart and mind. Your vocabulary is over kill and meaningless and you wasted your time trying to make me and other “Right Wingers” feel bad about ourselves. If you read your own hate filled diatribe again you will be the one who is guilty of hate mongering.

To you adnihilo, I give thanks for reassuring me of my beliefs and values as a conservative traditionalist Christian.

I would like to give recognition and say thank you for your support to Mr.Kenneth, John from Texas, Tony from PA, Jim and T and also to MSGH (Ms Maureen) for the definition of kakistocracy which is what I believe our failed government has become.

God bless you and may God Save America.

re. Stevo - This is personally directed to adnihilo, an extremely typical leftist liberal.

If by “extremely typical leftist liberal” you infer I’m a ‘commie pinko American hater’ like the typical American Christian fascist suffering from RWA [Right Wing Authoritarian] Personality Disorder, you’d be completely wrong. As Bill Maher put it, “I love America. It’s Americans I can’t stand.”

In your simpleton right vs left political view adhering to an ‘us versus them’ absolutist Christian philosophy of hate, how do you know, or even assume I’m ‘an extremely typical leftist liberal’? Economics aside, I’m a libertarian strongly opposed to the fascist [authoritarian] government rule Christians like yourself embrace from only being taught WHAT to think instead of learning HOW to think.

re. Why in the hell did your mother give you such an idiotic name or did you conjure it up yourself?

Irrelevant, and/or ‘non sequitur’. But if for once in your life you want to learn something other than what you’ve been spoon fed, just look it up in that ‘idiotic’ latin dictionary…

re. As far as being a victim or suffering from anything, I’ll admit I am a victim of immature name calling from liberals like you. I do suffer from liberal policies that have almost destroyed the America I grew up in.

I didn’t personally attack you, much less even blame you for being a victim of an intolerant Christian upbringing that assuredly caused the ‘ideological attitudes’ you embrace from a RWA [Right Wing Authoritarian] Personality Disorder.

re. TX Steve - But my Christian faith keeps me strong enough to over come the hatred from people like you. I can see your religion is humanism.

I embrace no religion defined in any dictionary as a strong belief in a supernatural power or powers that control human destiny. Unlike what’s been forced fed into your brain since a child, faith [confidence] in age-old mythological fiction [lies] will not keep you or anyone intellectually strong, but just the opposite.

Faith is the antithesis to reason, a destructive force to critical thinking and the quickest way to irrational actions. It becomes a vile and vicious America when so many of its citizens are so far from individual independence by combining a nationalist cause with a Christian identity based on a fallacious faith-based belief system in an imaginary sky god. Faith results in the very foundation of intolerance from its lack of critical thinking. Faith is an act of mental destruction. If there is no evidence for a claim, then accepting it is irrational. Tolerance is a trait that the firm, devout Christian cannot possibly possess.

“I am the Lord thy God and thou shalt have no other gods before me”, saith Jehovah. Which means in plain English, that whatever any given god and his clergy believe, it must be absolutely, positively true; and whatever any other person or group believes must be absolutely, positive false. Such required dogma in religion for an adherent is impossible without this necessary intolerance that is ultimately displayed as very real expressions of bigotry. This sort of absolutist, perfectionist, two dimensional thinking is the prime creator of the two most destructive human emotions: anxiety and hostility.

When someone claims to have supernatural knowledge, or the ability to gain knowledge in a way that you are unable to, their claims cannot be considered valid. If someone claims to be able to speak to their god, and tells you what god demands, you have no reason to accept it as true. In fact, it should be rejected. If one claims to have knowledge which you are incapable of achieving, his beliefs must be rejected. If one has to accept the knowledge of others, he must use reason in order to decide which others to listen to. Again, if there is no evidence or contrary evidence for accepting a person’s beliefs, it is not an act of reason. It is an act of faith.

When accepting a statement as true, there are two basic methods. The first is reason. It is when the known evidence points to the statement being true, and when the truth of the statement doesn’t contradict other knowledge. The second is faith. It is when one accepts a statement as true without evidence for it, or in the face of evidence against it. There’s a lot of confusion about what exactly faith is. Many people confuse belief with faith. It’s said that if you believe something, you must be taking it on faith. This is a denial of the fundamental distinction between reason and faith. It pretends that evidence for or against an idea is irrelevant.

The result of using faith consistently is a mental illness called psychosis accompanied by a complete inability to think in rational terms. Without any criteria for accepting a statement as true, every random idea, whether true or false, would be just as likely to be accepted. Contradictions would exist. No higher-level abstractions could be made. Faith nullifies the mind. To the degree ideas are taken on faith, the process of thinking is subverted.

If there is no evidence for a claim, then accepting it is irrational. It is more likely to be false then true (since there are more false ideas then true ones, being that their is only one reality).

Psychosis is defined as a severe mental disorder in which contact with reality is lost or highly distorted. Religious Psychosis is a life philosophy based in faith on the supernatural [from mythological lies]. It is the predominant cause of the RWA [Right Wing Authoritarian] Personality Disorder. The degree of religious psychosis is in direct proportion to the level of faith. The stronger the faith, the greater the level of psychosis.

The greater the level of religious psychosis, the more difficult it is to cure this mental illness. Eventually, even when confronted with evidence against a faith based life philosophy, the extreme religious psychotic has become so dependent on their mytholigical fiction they reject the evidence fearing their entire world view will collapse. Thus the reason religious psychosis is so difficult to cure. They psychosis itself makes them unable to admit or comprehend that they’ve lost contact with reality.

re. TX Stephanie - With your insults to the state of Texas and Florida you are only showing your ass and it’s easy to see that you have a lot of hate and bitterness deep inside your soul and I pity you.

I surely don’t need or want the pity of a desperate psychotic clinging to age-old mytholigical fiction and faith in some imaginary Sky Daddy there Stevo. Attacking me personally with your irrelevant ad hominem fallacies proves nothing but an inability to think rationally Stevo. Citing FACTS about the Bushland State of Texass as the #1 State in America for Christian Identity Hate Groups is not an insult - it’s reality Stevo.  Attacking this factual reality with your fallacious argument attacking me personally as hateful and bitter doesn’t change the fact that White Christian hate, bigotry, racism and resulting violence runs rampant in Texas.

Texass is #1 for White Christian hate and bigotry in America towards any non-Christian or any non-white race. There are more white Christian hate groups per capita in Texass than any other state in America. White Christian Hate Groups in Texass range from Neo-Nazi, Neo-Confederate, Christian Identity, KKK, White Supremacist, and Skinhead with multiple ‘chapters’ of many throughout the state including, but not limited to:

[NeoNazi] American Thule Society, White Revolution, Aryan Nations, National Socialist Movement, National Alliance, American National Socialist Workers’ Party, League of the South, [Christian Identity] Aryan Covenant Church/ACC Services, Christian Guard, Gospel Broadcasting Association, Tony Alamo Christian Ministries, Old Guard, Power of Prophecy, [KKK-White Supremacist] Traditional Christian Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, Imperial Klans of America, TX Knights of the Invisible Empire Inc., White Camelia Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, United White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, Imperial Klans of America, Bayou Knights of the Ku Klux Klan, White Nationalist, Desastrious Records, Aryan Wear, European-American Unity and Rights Organization, Eagle Publications, [Skinhead] Iron Circle Motorcycle Club, Independent Skins, Confederate Hammerskins, Lonestar Patriots and many more…

Fascism: “System of government exercising authoritarianism by the extreme right, typically through merging state & business leadership together with belligerent nationalism” [from American Heritage Dictionary].

The 30’s were a decade in which Nazis openly paraded, unopposed, in the streets of America and were supported by many. Much of the details of 1930’s fascism are still shrouded in secrecy. It has been over a half-century since the end of the war, yet news is still surfacing of corporate America’s dealings with the Nazis. As of yet, no one has exposed, in a comprehensive manner, the connections between the 1930’s fascists and today’s American right wing.
It is no coincidence the racism and hate found in all of today’s far right Christian hate groups named above evolved directly from the 100s of Christian Identity Fascist groups that existed in the 1930s.

Just as economic hardships in Germany led to the rise of Hitler, many Americans hit by the Great Depression joined the fascist ranks. Due to the natural congeniality between the robber barons and the corporate state of fascism, most of America’s leading industrialists became America’s leading supporters of fascism.  These leading American industrialists were largely responsible for bringing Hitler to power and for building Hitler’s war machine.

Fascist right wing groups have grown exponentially in membership since Bush ‘took’ office.  Their roots are found in the American Fascist movement of the 1930s that almost overthrew FDR with the help of Bush’s grand daddy and a host of other leading industrialists making up Corporate America. It can strongly argued George Bush succeeded where his grand daddy Prescot failed with his attempted fascist coup of American democracy. The socio-economic and political fragmentation during the 1930s was similar, if not even greater than it is today. There were well over 700 different fascist groups during the 30s all with a solid Christian Identity. The American-National-Socialist Party, German-American Bund, Christian Front, the Silver Shirts, America First Committee, the Christian Mobilizer, National Worker’s League and the Committee of One Million were some of the more prominent Christian fascist groups at the time. There are so many parallels between the Christian fascist groups of the 1930s and those seen today under the banner of White Supremacy it is almost impossible to differentiate between the hate for all races and religions other than their own espoused in their mutual goals.

re. TX Stephy - Leftist liberals try their best to make conservatives and traditionalist “feel” guilty of their values and beliefs

Conservative means resistant to change. Traditionalist means one who is stubbornly narrow-minded [word web]. If you think these are traits to admire like ‘faith’, there is little doubt you suffer from the RWA personality disorder and the mental illness of religious psychosis. Tired yet of what’s been spoon fed into you from a Christian upbringing and a TX state public educational system that teaches supernatural fiction? As Aristotle said, ‘Know theyself’ Stevo by reading this free on line book called the ‘Authoritarians’ here:
http://home.cc.umanitoba.ca/~altemey/

re. TX Stephorino - emotion is their [Liberals] tool to gain favor with the unsuspecting naive mind.

Perhaps this is true in some opposite surreal twilight zoned reality populated by fellow religious psychotics, but not in this one and ONLY reality the sane exist in Stevo. Republicans are infamous for using ‘emotion’ as a tool to ‘gain favor with the unsuspecting naive mind’, not liberals. The very fact that liberals are known as ‘reality based’ [in reason] as opposed to religious right or republicans known as ‘faith based’ [in unproven facts, fiction and superstition] should tell you which group has a more ‘naive mind’.  Granted, liberals too can have naive minds [as in ex-liberal Paulites], but any psychotic mind that puts ‘faith’ in imaginary sky gods never proven to exist is what I would deem not only ‘naive’, but childlike from a need for an all powerful father figure, or ‘sky daddy’.

GOP’s ‘Swift boating’ personal attack tactic is an emotive based one created by a right wing Texan.  Personal attacks like what you see on McClellan now from Fascist Fox News and the white house are all emotive based to dismiss reality and cover up the truth. Rush Limbaugh and his ‘ditto’ heads are renown for emotive based personal attacks on anything opposing their Neofascist [same as NeoCon] mind set.

re. TX Etien [French for steve] - Try taking it easy, you might enjoy life a little more.

Please don’t make your idiotic personal assumptions or conclusions about whether or not I enjoy life.  If anything it’s the faith based who enjoy life far less from moralistic absurdities restricting pleasure from life due to an imaginary life envisioned after dead.

re. TX Esteban [Spanish for steve] -I’m not going to bother with addressing all your bullshit because most rational people don’t know about that stuff and don’t have a need for it.

You’re dead wrong of course from again this psychotic faux reality you exist in from a faith based life philosophy. It’s only the irrational or ‘true believers’ [faith based] that ‘don’t know about that stuff’ I wrote on the RWA personality, and its direct cause from being raised in an authoritarian religious environment like Texass. Like Reason, Behavioral Science, or any kind of science is the antithesis of Faith espousing beliefs in unsupported facts, mytholigical lies and fiction.

re. TX Steve - But there are those who are constantly looking for meaning in their lives and you are definitely one of those unfortunate fools.

Yikes - that’s so ignorant it’s hilarious coming from a Christian!  There is no such thing as ‘destiny’ or pre-ordained ‘meaning in life’. It is what it is and that’s all that there is just life Popeye’s view of himself. What would be hilarious, if not so really sad is the intolerant, desperate need from monotheists unable to face reality in their only existence known here on earth.  Monotheists are so fearful of death that in order to convince themselves they’ll have a life ever after, they been attempting to kill off anyone with differing belief systems since the beginning of civilization. They even kill those of the same belief system because they’re so intolerant they can’t even tolerate themselves.

Just because life is so precarious and uncertain, and because millions of people think that they cannot handle the changes and uncertainty life offers, especially its finality, the believer invents absolutistic gods in pretending there is some final, invariant answer to things. Fooling oneself with such delusions stagnates growth and maturity.  It is like the fatherless child dreaming up an imaginary father while insisting that this dream-father actually exists.  Unfortunately it is the devout faith-based religious believer in their imaginary skygod father-figure that suffers by the billions from this mass form of delusionary pscyhotic insanity. It resulting in insane behavior causing a far worse level of mass chaos in the world as we see today in the mid-east, but has been going on past, present and sadly, will continue in the future unless this psychoti insanity found in monotheism is stopped cold.

re. TX Stephy - It seems to me that you are a black woman who has spent too much time in school and you have deep racism in your heart and mind.

Now I’m a racist black woman who’s overeducated? You’ve got some projection problems there Stevo… In psycho-analytical terms projecting refers to a defense mechanism by which your own traits and emotions are attributed to someone else.... Are you a member of one of those many dozens of White Supremacy Christian Identity hate groups mentioned earlier? If such a proud white guy I’d think you’d admit membership in the KKK or some other similar Christian group;-]

re. TX Stevo - Your vocabulary is over kill and meaningless and you wasted your time trying to make me and other “Right Wingers” feel bad about ourselves. If you read your own hate filled diatribe again you will be the one who is guilty of hate mongering.

It’s unfortunate for you Steve that’s you’ve a limited vocabulary from a less then par Texass education Stevo. It’s my ‘normal’ vocabulary used - I don’t adjust it to meet the needs of the uninformed, the uneducated, the mentally challenged, or the emotionally and intellectually blind, deaf or dumb.

re. Steverino - To you adnihilo, I give thanks for reassuring me of my beliefs and values as a conservative traditionalist Christian.

Again by definition you apparently put value on being resistance to change and remaining stubbornly narrow-minded [according to Word Web dictionary;-]. I have no empathy for you even though you are a victim of this authoritarian Christian upbringing that caused your religious psychosis and RWA personality disorder. You could change but the insansity is so deep, you will refuse to till the day you become maggot meat. Although if you truly ‘believe’ you can always go bravely fight ‘n die in the latest Judeo-Christian Crusade against Islam in the middle east and prove me wrong by arising from the dead to come back and haunt me. Just think, you’ll be just like Jesus and Osama bin Laden;-]

re. Texass Steve - God bless you and may God Save America.

Calling on the imaginary Christian Sky God to bless or save America is like asking Santa Claus to save or ‘bless’ US.  Here you have given a sound reason why America is likely doomed due to the likes of Christian right wingnuts like Reagan and Bush - there’s no sky god to bless, much less save America and there’s surely not enough sane, rational Americans to save it from itself…

I am a white woman raised proudly in the South, The Great State of Texas, to be exact. I was married for twenty years to a black man and we have three children, all grown up and responsible adults.

Mr. Obama and his circle of friends scare the hell out of me. I’ve been to many black churches, and never have I heard a so-called preacher speak the way Rev. Wrong does from the pulpit. I’ve seen racism on both ends of the spectrum. I always considered myself a Democrat.

What I see Democrat’s and what they are attempting to do to my country makes me sick. As far as I’m concerned, Mr. Obama has set race relations in this country back fifty years. How in the hell can he unite the country when all he has done is tear his own party apart. I’m still waiting for him to admit there’s only 52 states, not 57. I would love to see a balck man elected President, just not someone who thinks I’m too dumb to manage my own life, therefore government should tell me how hot or cold to keep my house or what kind of vehicle I can drive.....Oh yeah, I also think global warming is a hoax intended to slowly chip away all our personal freedoms....

JimR in “Kenneth, I couldn’t agree with you more about Adnihilist but you can never convince someone like that they are wrong. Just have to look over them and pray for them.”

Choosing to make solely emotive-based personal attacks on me while thumbing your bible of bullshit tells me much about you both. It first tells me you’re both too ignorant, too lazy, or most likely just so intellectually challenged you are inable to rationally dispute, much less debate, any of what was presented on extremist Christian Fascism in TX today or in American history, religious psychosis, RWA personality disorder, faith as an act of mental destruction. Or anything at all for that matter that confronts the twilight zoned faith based faux reality you both proselytise here.

Fallacious [misconception from incorrect reasoning for the intellectually challenged] ad hominem personal attacks on ‘character’ opposing anything you believe is all you will be able to irrationally argue with because you both embrace a belief system based in fiction, mythological lies and unproven facts. A reality based in faith in fiction and mythlogical lies is the direct cause to your mental illness referred to as reliogious psychosis.

For me it’s like relating to a child who still believes in Santa Claus because 100% of the time, the sole response bible thumpers provide are these sort of fallacious and childish personal attacks on character. If you can only present sticks and stones like schoolyard bullies than just dummy up.  It only illustrates what immature children you are in need of an invisible, imaginary sky daddy to instill meaning into your existence from being unable to face the realities in it as mere maggot meat in the end… The worst, most vile fallascious personal attacks always seem to come from cloned Texas bible thumpers..

If you want an intelligent discussion that challenges your flawed belief system based in fiction, than fine. It is the only way you can break free from this religious psychosis you suffer from and alter the RWA personality disorder that accompanies your psychotic mental illness. If not, as you’ve indicated, then just shut the #### up… I gave up trying to be ‘polite’ and courteous long ago to the constant emotive based and wholly fallascious personal attacks from religious right extremists, particularly from the TX Bushlands, but really anywhere in the US.

In fact I challenge you both along with ‘stevo’ there to a rational discussion on your flawed faith based life philosophy. But not here for it is not the place. However if you are so ‘sure’ and confident that your faith based beliefs are factual, reliable and true, then I suggest you put them to the test at rational responders in the “Kill Em With Kindness Forum”
http://www.rationalresponders.com/forums/sapient/kill_em_with_kindness

There you will not personally be attacked for your convictions or beliefs like you do here in personally attacking me instead of attacking the facts and reality behind the truth and reason [veritas et ratio] of what I present. I’ll be looking for you, but I sincerely doubt any of you are brave, confident or homo sapien [meaning thinking man] enough to accept the challenge as something ‘less than human’ I refer to as Homo Religiosus…

re. JimR in “Well, I guess I proved my case.  Thanks for your ignorant post Adnihillist.

Proof? Are you truly that mentally ill from contact with reality being so completely lost? You prove nothing but you are insane from this continuing illiterate ability to yet again personally attack me with yet another ad hominem fallacy. All you have proven is that you are so mentally deficient and intellectually challenged you can not verbalize anything but childish personal attacks. You prove nothing but a complete failure to present yourself as a ‘homo sapien’ [thinking man] that yet again illustrates you as being something far less than human’ as a hominid called homo religiousus.

re. JimR in “You will regret your comments someday, mark my word”

Making personal threats against me only further illustrates you are perhaps more than a monkey, but definitely less than human from a complete inability to relate in anyway other than emotive based and fallacious personal ad hominem attacks and threats.

You refuse Rational Debate and discussion because you are an intellectual coward and you fear you might actually have to honestly think for once. 1.) There is nothing wrong at all with being gay.  It is a gift from God.  Gay people are special gifts to humanity.

2.) The U.S. would be a better country if more socialist policies were put in place.  Unbridled capitalism without regulation is just as unworkable as communism is.

3.) Free healthcare should be instituted for all (except illegal immigrants).

4.) Rethugnicans, kkkonservatives, Bible-thumpers, hypocritical Christian bigots, and anti-gay douchebags are the scourge of humanity.  This country would be a much better place if they would just keep their mouths shut and let liberals, progressives, and socialists run things.  The kkkonservative slime, war profiteers, chickenhawks, and those who were behind 9-11 like Dick Cheney and his retarded puppet, George Bush, are ruining this country.  They’ve already bankrupted us to the point that we’re over $9 trillion in debt - obviously they don’t care about the welfare of this country, its citizens, or future generations.  This is just one example out of an endless litany of problems that these idiotic pious self-righteous sleazy traitors and their wicked supporters have done to this country. These repulsive slimeballs are the first to throw out Bible verses as if they’re high and holy themselves, yet not a day goes by when many so-called “Christians” are arrested for molesting children, embezzling money, abusing children, abusing elders, abusing animals, or even going so far as the “Christian” judge in Oklahoma who was using a masterbating machine kept under his bench consisting of an electric vacuum pump and plexiglass tubes with hoses to masterbate himself under his robe while sitting behind his bench hearing testimony (naturally, he’s a Repukkkenican).  These sick old farts are absolute perverts!  When it comes to these self-righteous “Christians”—especially the gay-hating homophobes (they’re the worst)—they are truly the most depraved, vile, reprehensible, disgusting, wretched, perverted, sick, mentally deranged, pious, wicked, and evil criminals, evil-doers, filthbags, liars, and miscreants in all of society.

Fortunately, most of these ancient dinosaurs are old and dying off, as is their way of thinking.  Soon gay marriage will be legal across the U.S., and legal protections will be instituted to keep these evil Christian heterosexist bigots from discriminating against gay people and putting a lid on the hatred which runs through their veins like blocks of ice through rivers of evil.

Isn’t it odd how they use Jesus as their figurehead—a man who taught peace and forgiveness—yet they’re the first ones to say we don’t need anti-bullying laws or hate crime legislation.  Why?  Because they are HYPOCRITES.  They profess peace and forgiveness, yet do the exact opposite.

With the new Democratic president and Congress coming into power in Jan 09, it will be a great day in American when all “faith-based” discriminatory funding (tax dollars stolen by the government and misappropriated at the behest of the evil retard & moron, Herr Bushit) is taken back and put to higher and better uses under state-run programs like teaching tolerance, buying books for all elementary school grades which will teach acceptance and normalization of gay people to all grades, starting in kindergarten.  Sex Ed should be modified to include the teaching of gay sex as well.  Gay-straight clubs should be instituted in all high schools around the country if the students wish.  Anti-bullying laws will be passed to protect GLBT kids at school from the barbaric heterosexist bigots and their violent tendencies, increasing prison time for harming a GLBT student. Free housing, food, clothing, transportation, etc. should be given to all homeless gay kids who’ve been kicked out of the family home by their evil Christian parents when they found out they’re gay.  Funding increases should be granted to all county and state prosecutors in order to fully prosecute these awful despicable parents so that they may be placed in prison where they belong.

Massive new changes to the country’s civil rights statutes need to be instituted so that GLBT citizens are given the same protections everyone else receives, as well as the ability to sue for civil damages those who violate these rights.

Free firearms, ammunition, and defensive fighting training should be offered gratis to all GLBT people to protect themselves from violent hetero supremacist thugs.

ENDA must be passed so that GLBT people will have the same protections at work that the breeders take for granted.  Protections for gay people must be written into the law so that gay people have the same rights that other ethnicities, religions, and political stripes do.

The EEOC (Equal Rmployment Opportunities Commission) must be charged with making sure that companies don’t discriminate against gay people and fiven funding increases to carry out “sting” operations against employers who may be discriminating against gay people.  Because of the amount of anti-gay prejudice and bigotry in the U.S., a new federal agency must be created to make sure that gay people aren’t being discriminated against, making sure that companies and individuals are behaving correctly and prosecuting those who do not.  It should also be made much easier for the government to criminally prosecute those who discriminate against or try to harm GLBT people in any way.  The rights of churches and religious organizations to discriminate against gay people must be ended and abolished.  If they talk badly of gay people in any way or cite bogus, outdated, mistranslated Bible verses like Leviticus 18:22, then they need to be arrested, locked up and prosecuted (just like how our more forward-thinking and thoughtful neighbor Canada has so intelligently begun doing).

The tax-exempt status of churches must be abolished forever.  There is absolutely no reason or justification whatsoever that a so-called church should be able to tell it’s members who to vote for, be able to demonize Democrats and talk of Repugnikkkans as saints (they are the true devils), or encouraging even one person to vote for a Repukenican and then receive tax exemption for such treasonous and highly immoral acts.  It is an outrage that they are able to not pay taxes (taxes are the dues for democracy, so obviously these Bible-thumpers think that everyone else should pay their dues for them while they not only get by scot free but at the same time able to demonize gay people too).

If churches continue to discriminate against gay people, not perform gay marriages, or speak negatively of gay people in any way, then they must be labeled as “hate groups” and put on terrorist watch lists.  These terrorist hate groups who try and use the Bible as a weapon while they cower behind their cloak of alleged respectability practicing their vile anti-gay discrimination and hatred against innocent gay people, pretending to be the most respectable members of society are in fact the most reprehensible, sick, disgusting, dishonest, immoral, backwards, barbaric, perverted and repugnant members of society.

This country has a long way to go before so many crimes, anti-gay prejudice, unfairness and bigotry against GLBT people can be rectified and the breeders can atone for their ignorance over the years.  But one day we will emerge from these Dark Ages of the evil dictator and drunken idiot, pathologically-lying scumbag, and braindead bloodthirsty warmonger and chickenhawk extraordinaire, George Bush, and he and his gang of despicable thugs will all be placed on trial for war crimes charges in addition to their literally endless crimes against America, their absolutely undeniable involvement in 9-11, and we will gain the respect of the rest of the world again that the stupid immoral liar George Bushitler and Darth Cheney have so idiotically squandered, and we will finally be a respectable country again once we institute complete social equality across the board and begin to serve as an example for other countries to follow.

Oh, and Obama isn’t a Muslim either.  That’s just a smear campaign begun by the scurrilous Repukenikkkans.  They know this, but they want to play off the hatred against Muslims in the U.S.  I didn’t vote for him, but it illustrates just how despicable, stupid, and idiotic the konservatives, Repukenikkkans, dominionists, fundamentalists, and right-wingers are in this country.

Isn’t it funny how they demonize the Rev. Jeremiah Wright on one hand, and then on the other hand try to claim Obama is a muslim?

First of all, it’s easy to verify Obama is a Christian with about 2 seconds of research (assuming you even wanted to find out.  But why should you?  It’s so much easier to be ignorant and hateful rather than put forth just a fraction of an iota of effort and try to step into the light of knowledge).  The “Obama is a muslim” rumor just goes to show the gullibility and stupidity of Repugnicans, reich-wingers, and conservatives in the U.S. when they fall for email-spread rumors.

Secondly, anytime you see Wright speaking, it’s obvious he’s in a church and not a mosque.  Ergo, Obama can’t be a muslim.  Third, “Jeremiah Wright” is a Christian name, not a Muslim name—obviously.  Anyone with an IQ above 70 should be able to tell Obama isn’t a muslim if he has a pastor with a name like Jeremiah Wright.  Duhhh.

This just proves why the conservatives, Rethugnicans, creationists, Bushit supporters, etc., need more education to be brought out of their prejudice, ignorance, and stupidity.

Vickie from Texas is proof that even the Democratic party has a nutjob in it here & there.
She’s a white woman who shamelessly states she’s from Texas—a fact nobody in their right mind would ever admit unless they wanted to be thought of as a rightwing whackjob as nutty as Ted Nugent, Tom DeLay, or that despicable stupid failure and chronic liar who’s in illegal occupation of our White House.  I may live in a state known to be conservative, but thank God I’m not from Texas!!

She then goes on to actually ADMIT that she married a black man.  How disgusting!  Why this isn’t a crime punishable by years of hard labor is beyond me.  Maybe it’s because she box became so stretched out from having so many foreign and vibrating objects placed in it over the years that it became so loose that she could then only be satisfied with the black man’s larger appendage.  Or maybe it’s because these white women who are guilty of committing treason against their race are almost always obese and have asses so big that they can’t do anything other than lay in bed and shovel more food into their mouths.

Either way, the fact that Vickie from Texas couldn’t find a white man to marry and instead willingly chose to settle for a black one and then with aforethought and malice towards her race chose to defile her body and entire race is sickening beyond words.  I have to laugh at those who think that just because someone is gay that they only have buttsex, yet they never seem to be outraged at the thought of an interacial couple having sex through vaginal penetration, not to mention the freaks and racial monsters produced by such abhorrent acts.  These same people are probably just as against abortion too, yet never give a thought to the fact that this race-traitor Vicky has assassinated every potential white child that her bloodline could have produced, but instead will now create racial monsters for the rest of time.

The thought of a White woman shitting out these freaks is beyond repugnant.  Chances are she’s too fat to work herself and the black man she was married to was most likely an ex-con, unhirable, lazy, shiftless, too stupid or careless to use any form of birth control, and had no more than a sixth grade education.  So both were probably on welfare and AFDC and had nothing to do other than lay around and do their dirty, filthy acts with each other all day, producing another mutant racial freak every nine months for which they were then entitled to more government money.

What is most sickening is that this racefucker is actually proud of her detestable and hideous acts of having shat out three bi-racial monsters and forever polluting her bloodline.  If she had any intelligence whatsoever, she’d hide each of her affronts to all humanity, place each mutant offspring in a potato ("potatoe" if you’re a Republican, as per Dan Quayle) sack along with a heavy rock, toss each over the side while in the middle of a large body of water, and resolve to never again #### out any more of these creatures.  But being that she’s from Texas, I guess we couldn’t really expect her to have any intelligence now, could we?

I shudder when I think of the unforgivable crimes her perverted acts have done to her race and the little monsters she’s forced upon the world and how they can never be undone.  Her stupidity will now multiply over and over and over again as the years roll by, forever staining the white race with the insidious sludge of non-white blood.

Her family must be so ashamed of her…

Aside from ‘thanking god’ for life in some other backwards bible belt state than Texas, does Wyatt Power also ‘thank god’ for such vile white supremacist racist attitudes of hate and bigotry toward a ‘racefucker’ [race mixing]? Is it this invisible ‘god’ that has turned Wyatt Power into such a scoundrel and sad excuse for a human being inhuman?

And Mike, if a sexual preference for being ‘gay’ is “a gift from God” as you claim, is it really plausible that all that vile hate, bigotry and violence towards gays from exclusively ‘god fearing’ Christians also a ‘gift from god’?

It sounds to me like this ‘god’ you all insist on using as a reason for your mutual hate, bigotry and violence toward each another either lives exclusively in your demented, delusional minds or this ‘god’ is terribly cunning and evil. Which do YOU think it is - an imaginary god that exists solely in your minds or a real [yet invisible] god that’s the very definition of evil?

Hey Cliffy [article author] - in your 21st century version of McCarthyism, in regard to that last sentence - what exactly is this liberal media that you speak of? Is it the same liberal media across America that aided and abetted the Bush cabal into lying this nation into war?

Just before she died in 1963, Franklin’s wife Eleanor wrote on the last page of her last book, Tomorrow Is Now:

“Long ago, there was a noble word, LIBERAL, which derived from the word FREE [libre]. Now a strange thing happened to that word. A man named Hitler made it a term of abuse, a matter of suspicion, because those who were not with him were against him, and liberals had no use for Hitler. And then another man named McCarthy cast the same opprobrium on the word. Indeed, there was a time--a short but dismaying time--when many Americans began to distrust the word which derived from FREE. One thing we must all do. We must cherish and honor the word FREE or it will cease to apply to us.”

“The American fascists are most easily recognized by their deliberate perversion of truth and fact. Their newspapers and propaganda carefully cultivate every fissure of disunity, every crack in the common front against fascism.” Henry A. Wallace, 33rd US Vice President and 10th Secretary of Commerce, both under Roosevelt.

“From 1945 to 2003, the United States attempted to overthrow more than 40 foreign governments, and to crush more than 30 populist [democratic] movements fighting against intolerable [right wing] regimes. In the process, the US bombed some 25 countries, caused the end of life for several million people, and condemned many millions more to a life of agony and despair.” William Blum, Former State Department employee leaving in 1967 due to his opposition to the Vietnam War.

Jean,
For an 80 year old I would think you would know better.  How sad that you are willing to vote for someone with no experience, who has no respect for America, and “hope” they will take care of you simply because they “talk the talk”.  We are in for a world of hurt if you and your kind are successful.  I am only 10 years your junior, but I do have to give myself credit for having a little more insight into what is going on around me.

A. Clawson,
I went back and read Jean’s post. I agree with you. Talking the talk is a dangerous metric for picking political leaders to give great power to.

I personally have been deeply upset about the way Obama has won this primary. Yes, I support Hillary, and I do it proudly. I to am about 70 but I agonize over the way the media has supported the new kid on the block over the Senator with true experience.

Obama’s far left leanings, which are influenced by such marxist based paradigms as black liberation theology and Saul Alinsky style organizing which promotes aggitation and class struggle, quite frankly scare me to death. Watching the talking heads on TV tonight after the candidates gave their speeches was hard to take. If Hillary helps him, I think Barack will be elected. May God help us to find a reasonable path toward “change.”

re. Vic in No self-respecting male or female would knowingly vote for a socialist/communist!

First there’s socialist or communists running for president in America… I won’t vote for anyone that’s running since all Dem candidates left, including Obama, are right wing authoritarians.

According to Obama and Hillary’s congressional voting record, speeches and platform they are conservative at best as firmly in the right wing authoritarian quadrant [fascist] and NOT anything close to left authoritarian [communist] and more importantly NO candidate is anything close to libertarian..

Look for yourself here http://politicalcompass.org/usprimaries2008

re. complicity/blessing of the MSM.

What’s MSM - MicroSoft Media?

re. It speaks volumes about self-respect.

What does any of that have to do with ‘self-respect’?

Nihilst, interesting choice of screen names - one who believes in nothing. Why do you even have a vote, then? You have not kept up with the election. You claim “[t]here’s NOT a socialist or communists [sic] running for president in America.” Several problems with your uninformed statements.

First of all, you presume that America is only comprised of the United States. Not so. You are ignoring Canada, Cuba, Haiti, the D.R., Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatamala, Nicaragua, Belize, etc. There are socialists running in the countries that have presidents, such as El Salvador. Then you have the Cuban regime that is clearly Communist and with, no doubt, elections coming to determine the proper successor to Fidel.

Secondly, you are not up on the elections in the U.S. Brian Moore is the Socialist Party USA nominee to the presidency. Surprising that the Green Party has endorsed him and his issues are largely the same as those of the democratic party. For those who do not believe the democratic party is socialist, check this out:

1) Stop The War in Iraq and Afghanistan and bring the American troops and reconstruction companies home immediately;

2) Implement a national health care system to include comprehensive health, dental and mental health care for all residents, foreign and domestic.

3) Initiate a guaranteed income for all American families, working or not, at a level of $35,000 per year per adult (2008 Cost of Living levels)

4) Nationalize Oil Industry, Pharmaceutical Industry, Banking and Insurance Industry, Railroad and Automotive Industries, and Entertainment and Sports Industries

5) Phase out all nuclear power plants, shut down waste incinerators, landfills and open-pit mining.

6) Call for unconditional disarmament by the U.S.

7) End U.S. Cuban Embargo and the occupation of Guantanamo, Cuba, and return entire U.S. property to the country of Cuba

8) Call for immediate 50% cut in the military budget, with additional 50% over the next 10 years

9) Call for treaty outlawing all weapons of mass destruction

10) Abolish CIA, NSA, Homeland Security Agency and all other covert warfare institutions

11) End Israeli occupation of West Bank-East Jerusalem/Gaza; cease all U.S. aid to Israel---as precondition for peace.

12) Disband NATO

13) Cut off all U.S. military aid to Colombia

14) Close all U.S. military facilities that train foreign military and paramilitary personnel.

15) Initiate Worldwide war on poverty and global illnesses, especially in third and fourth world countries;

16) Establish Public ownership and democratic control of all natural resources to preserve wilderness areas and restore environmental quality.

17) Support Kyoto Protocol and lead in controlling global warming and cleaning up of toxic wastes, protect workers and communities from all harmful products

18) Cap and reduce corporate profits and excessive executive salary levels while fostering transfer of corporate ownership and control to workers.

19) Mandate right of employees for access to chose labor union representation to assure fair salaries and benefits.

20) Implement a national housing plan for all Americans

21) Legislate a 30 hour work week, six weeks annual paid vacation and a full pension

22) Provide equal rights to all immigrants; recognize their presence due to unfair U.S. economic policies, war, famine, or bad working conditions

23) Opposes Capital punishment

24) Cease construction of all new prisons nationwide; institute full range of rights and rehabilitation for prisoners;

25) Conduct Massive Rebuilding of United States infrastructure of bridges, railroad lines, major highways and subway systems and rural communities.

26) Reinforce and enhance government and private support of the arts, sports and culture.

27) Assure equal rights of all citizens, in gender, race, age, sexual preference or religion. Eliminate special privileges for all interest groups.

28) Stop America’s participation in NAFTA, CAFTA, WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION, WORLD BANK, IMF, etc.

29) Stop the gauging and rip-offs of consumers by legislating limits and caps for costs in services and products in the market place.

30) Abolish poverty in all its forms in America by assuring every American family with the basics in income, health and housing.

31) Promote a more equitable society by enhancing citizens rights and participatory control

32) During transition to full worker control, require private sector to implement a fairer economic system of consumer costs, profit-margins and regulation of services and products.

33) Reduce Defense spending significantly in the areas of high tech and military equipment and weaponry while enhancing protections and benefits for the common soldier.

34) Promote universal access to education on the college and vocational school level. Promote liberal arts, along with engineering and science, in colleges and universities. Remove the influence of corporate and military entities on our higher institutes of learning.

35) Promote a multi-party system, fair access to debates, universal ballot access, proportional representation and public funding of all elections.

36) Support a woman’s right to choose in matters of abortion; and oppose all restrictions on access to abortion.

Seems to me that the democratic and socialist parties are one and the same.

re. PeteCD in “Nihilst, interesting choice of screen names - one who believes in nothing.”

Wrong on both counts. Nihilist is not my screen name and the definition of modern nihilism is ‘faith’ in nothing, not belief in nothing.

re.  PeteCD “Several problems with your uninformed statements. First of all, you presume that America is only comprised of the United States. Not so. You are ignoring Canada, Cuba, Haiti, the D.R., Puerto Rico, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatamala, Nicaragua, Belize, etc. There are socialists running in the countries that have presidents, such as El Salvador.”

Don’t play a smart alec game of semantics with me. You know what is meant by America, short for the United States of America or USA by Americans living it. What do you think the ‘A’ is for in USA?  I didn’t say president of the plural ‘Americas’, I said America, which is a common reference for the US by AMERICANS living in it. Canadians don’t call themselves ‘Americans’ now do they? Mexicans don’t call themselves ‘Americans’ do they. Cubans don’t call themselves Americans. Only Americans refer to themselves ‘Americans’ from a direct referene to the name of this country in the United States of America.

re. Then you have the Cuban regime that is clearly Communist and with, no doubt, elections coming to determine the proper successor to Fidel.

Irrelavant due to your fraudulent use of semantics having nothing to do with anything relevant.

re. Secondly, you are not up on the elections in the U.S.

Based on what, you’re meaningless and unknowing opinon of how much I’ve read the news on the US election?

re. Brian Moore is the Socialist Party USA nominee to the presidency.

You fully know I was referring to in the 2 party system of Dems and Republicans in the US since all others aren’t allowed on the ballot of most all states in the US. Since these 3rd party candidates are kept off the ballots in every state by the Dems and the GOP, and most don’t even get included in anything close to a majority of the states, none of these 3rd party candidates can be considered viable for any Presidential election much less elections to Congress. Although there’s a few Senators and House Reps in 3rd parties, but it’s so few, it’s of no consequence.

Like most of all of US in the US, I’m not up on the ‘green party’ or the socialist party like you are, or up on who’s endorsed who in either since irrelevant to this 2 party system forced upon us here in the US of AMERICA.  I know little to nothing of what you rant on about regarding wholly irrelevant 3rd parties in the US as they are inconsequential to any election except in taking minor voting percentages from either Democrats or republicans in ‘some’ states.

re. PeteCD in “Surprising that the Green Party has endorsed him and his issues are largely the same as those of the democratic party.

That’s a bold faced LIE there PeteCD. Brian Moore and the democratic socialist platform of his party ARE NOT LARGELY or even partially the ‘same’ as the THIS democratic party of the US.

This US democratic party is so wishy washy they don’t even have a 2008 platform yet, but you can download their 2004 platform on their web site: http://www.democrats.org/a/party/stand.html

In the only Demoratic platform found on the internet, the only point I could find of those 36 that is mutually inclusive to both the Socialist USA party and the Democratic party is universal health care. http://www.democrats.org/pdfs/2004platform.pdf

re. PeteCD “For those who do not believe the democratic party is socialist, check this out”

Have you been hypnotized from watching the Fascist Fox-Fed Fake news station? Of all of those 36 points you’ve listed, the only one that could be construed as ‘mutually inclusive’ to the Democratic Party of this US is again Universal Health Care according to the only platform available they have out yet here: http://www.democrats.org/pdfs/2004platform.pdf

To put it bluntly PeteCD, you’re so full of shite I can smell it on your breath from where I’m sitting.. You’are a blatant liar by direcly claiming those 36 points from the Socialist USA party are ‘largely’ the same as the Democratic party of THIS US of A.

A bold faced LIE is very well put? Perhaps for scoundrels and those that support them....

Gun control has nothing to do with your oversimplified “left vs right’ economic view of the political landscape.  The left to right political continuum deals with economics ONLY. Gun control is a social issue of government control on the authoritarian to libertarian vertical continuum. There are many liberals, democrats and libertarians that support gun control as strongly as any given republican claims to support it.

The reality is any given authoritarian govt, be it communist left or fascist right, will attempt to take away the more powerful weapons of its populace they rule over from fear of overthrow if pushing their despotic centralized control too far. Hence what republican authoritarian Bush did in his executive order expanding marshall law that takes away all weapons of the populace during a declared ‘emergency’.

Hey Tyrone.  McCain was born in the United States.  To bad you don’t undertand that the Panama Canal and the military base he was born on were American soil. The land in which the Canal was built was given to the United States as compensation for the U.S.A. helping Panama gain its independance from Colombia. (Not only that, the U.S. then paid Colombia for the value of all of Panama because of our efforts).  Then the U.S. funded the complete construction of the canal.  So, that was part of the U.S.A., well at least until the peaNUT! farmer Carter gave them away to the communists.  Oh wait, another Democratic Party Communist link.

Carter give Panama the canal back, they turn it over to Hutchison Whampoa, a Hong Kong-based shipping concern whose owner, Li Ka Shing, is the wealthiest man in China.  HW is so in bed with the Peoples Liberation Army it has been accused at times of being a front company that is controlled by them.  So, Carter turned the Panama Canal over to the Chinese Communist Army.

Oh, here is another Democratic Party - Communist link.  Li Ka Shing, and all his friends are the ones believed to be behind the funding of the election of President Clinton.  You do remember all those non-U.S citizens from China that kept giving millions to Bill.  Communist Red Army ties!!!!

Oh, and lets not forget Obama’s campaign funding.  You know those record numbers that he is pulling in now.  Under the new rules - anything under $250 does not have to be reported as to who donated the money.  That is why the average donation is $190 for Obama.  All his communists friends have to do is make 100s of small donations, and he does not have to report where the money came from.

I will leave with one last thougth about Obama being a communist.

“You Americans! *You are so gullible! *We do not have to invade the United States! *We will destroy you from within! *And we won’t have to fire a shot! *Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. *We will bury you by the billions! *We’ll spoon feed you socialism until you’re Communists and don’t even know it! *Each year, humanity takes a step toward Communism. *We assist your elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of Socialism, until they suddenly awake to find they have Communism. *Maybe not you, but at all events the day will come when your children and your grandchildren will surely live under communism!”

- Nikita Krushcev, Russian Premier

re.  Joe T in “The land in which the Canal was built was given to the United States as compensation for the U.S.A. helping Panama gain its independance from Colombia. (Not only that, the U.S. then paid Colombia for the value of all of Panama because of our efforts).”

You’re simplistic version of the Panama Canal story leaves out many pertinent facts. The Panama Canal story is a classic example of American fascist imperialism that has directly and indirectly overthrown a host of sovereign nations to satiate unending and unregulated American corporate greed Joe here fool heartedly attempts to support.

The book, “How Wall Street Created a Nation” describes the journalistic saga that unmasked the true story of how the United States obtained the rights to build the Panama Canal. In 1908, Joseph Pulitzer’s newspaper, the New York World, accidentally got a tip that a secret Wall Street syndicate headed by J.P. Morgan and a foxy lawyer, William Nelson Cromwell of Sullivan & Cromwell, conspired to buy the shares of the then-defunct French Panama Canal Company and then convinced Teddy Roosevelt to buy the rights to build the Panama Canal or the concessions from the French for multiples of what they had paid. When Colombia got in the way by rejecting the Canal Treaty, this American capitalist plotted, fomented and financed a revolution in the then-province of Panama with J.P. Morgan’s money, and the help of Teddy Roosevelt’s warships, and ensured for themselves an enormous fortune.

That same ‘House of Morgan’ with the Duponts and a host of corporate American leaders also planned and financed the overthrow of American democracy from the assassination of FDR in order to install a fascist dictatorship more to the liking of US industrialists.

These Corporate American Nazi Fascists were also the primary source of funding behind a host of Christian Identity Fascist groups that existed in the 1930s that our present day far right Christian hate groups have evolved from.

Greg,

Communism is not a political system; it is an economic system.  A political system describes the way the people in the political unit are governed: e.g., 1) dictatorship and monarchy, in which the people are governed by a single individual; 2)oligarchy, in which the people are governed by a small group of people; 3) plutocracy (a form of oligarchy), in which the people are ruled by the very rich; 4) democracy, in which the people are ruled by themselves.  Democracy is divided into A)representational democracy (which is the ostensible form of the US government, though the political power of big business in the US brings it closer to being a plutocracy), in which the people vote for people to represent them (e.g., presidents, vice-presidents, senators, representatives, etc.) in making laws and otherwise governing them and B) participatory democracy, in which the people themselves vote on issues of governance (e.g., as in a plebiscite); 5) anarchy, in which the people are not governed by anyone.

An economic system describes the way wealth in the economic unit is distributed: e.g., 1) feudalism and slavery, in which a small group owns, controls, and receives most of the economic benefit of the unit’s resources, including the workers themselves; 2) capitalism, in which those who own the unit’s non-human resources receive most of the benefit therefrom; and 3) socialism and communism, in which all the people in the unit jointly own and benefit from the unit’s resources (somewhat as shareholders under capitalism jointly own and benefit from a company).

The Soviet Union, which I presume you are taking as your model of “communism” was politically a dictatorship.  Economically, it was not a true communist system, whatever it called itself, because the people did not share equally in the resources and benefits of the economic unit; the politically powerful reaped the major benefits of the unit.  However, it was more communist or socialist than a comparable hybrid capitalist-socialist system like the US or Canada in that it did provide as far as possible after the politically powerful had taken their share of the unit’s resources for the basic economic needs of all the people, which hybrid capitalist-socialist systems do not necessarily do (health care is an example in the US). The nearest to units which have a purely communist or socialist system are found in religious groups such as convents, monasteries, and Old Order Amish and Hutterite communities.  (Incidently, a number of socialists and communists, such as George Bernard Shaw and Sean O’Casey, regarded Christ as the first communist.  They based this on the miracle of the loaves and the fishes, when Christ decided that all the people should have enough to eat, not just those who owned the bread and fish.  In many countries, socialist elements, such as social security and national health care, were introduced by Christian socialists, often ministers themselves, who believed that Christ would not want old people to starve when they could no longer work or people to die of diseases that could be cured).

Despite the model of the Soviet Union, socialist or communist economic systems need not be dictatorships.  A number of economically socialist governments have been democratically elected under political participatory democracy systems.  I am thinking here of Salvador Allende’s government in Chile or the current government in Venezuela.  Neither of them are/were purely economically socialist of communist; both permit(ted) the existence of private property, though they nationalize(d) major national resources for the benefit of the people within the economic unit.

Just as there are no pure socialist or communist economic systems today, there are also no pure capitalist ones.  The nineteenth-century Western world provided the nearest to that: no social security, little regulation of such matters as food quality (i.e., if I sold you meat adulterated with arsenic, you would have little recourse), no help for the poor, even in times of famine, except that provided by private charities (that’s why 1 million Irish died in the Famine of the 1840s; many more, at least another million or more, more would have died without private assistance).  Still even the nineteenth century was not purely capitalist.  There were such socialist (i.e., for the benefit of all people, whether they paid for it or not) programs as a police force and public sanitation.

There is a difference, Greg, between political and economic systems nor matter how much those in power, whether politically or economically or both, find it to their advantage to blur the line between them to persuade people to accept the advantages of those in power.

Adnihilo,

Amazing how my defending McCain as being born on American soil is interpreted as “fool” hearted attempt to support what you call “American fascist imperialism”.  Your lack on intelegence to see my stating that that Panama Canal Zone was U.S.A. territory is expounded by your obvious socialist/communist rhetoric about American imperialism.  No matter how the Canal Zone became U.S. soil, it was just that U.S. soil, and McCain was born on U.S soil.

Forgive me if I am not as smart as you, and your liberal friends, but I guess I missed a few days of U.S. History in high school.  When exactly was the “planned and financed the overthrow of American democracy from the assassination of FDR in order to install a fascist dictatorship more to the liking of US industrialists”?  I don’t remember that part of U.S. History.  Oh well, who needs the truth when your a ranting on about American imperialism.

I love your quoting Charles Higham and Christopher Hedges.  Higham a film critic that has written one book unrelated to Holloywood, and you cite it - very interesting source.  And, Hedges a senior fellow at The Nation Institute (publisher of The Nation - the self described “flagship of the left").

Impressive how you rant and rave about American Imperialism when that was not even the topic of conversation.  I guess you could not defeat any of the Democratic Party - Communist Party links, so attack the “right” as facists with inaccurate information and cites from socilist/leftists.

Oh now to William Blum, a low-level computer programmer in the State Department that became disallusioned witht the Vietnam War.  A self confessed “socialist” that founded the Washington Free Press.  The WFP has editors like Kjartan who writes about how Castro enviornmental policies in Cuba are “great”.

Your just a marxist/communist liberal leftist that can’t say anything about the Democratic Party ties to Communism, so you attack.

Joe T, I think you’re just as smart as that person is. It’s just you don’t hate the USA like he does.

Seriously, if I hated the USA as bad as Adnihilo does, I’d get the hell out right now. He/she is like so many enemies that were educated here in the USA that didn’t get the right teachings and then spew nothing but hatred to those who don’t think as he/she does.

re. Joe T in “Amazing how my defending McCain as being born on American soil is interpreted as “fool” hearted attempt to support what you call ‘American fascist imperialism’.

You have failed to comprehend what you read. I did not question your defense of McCain as a legal resident or where he was born, but I did question your inclusion of only the surface story behind the Panama Canal history.

re Joe T in “Your lack on intelegence to see my stating that that Panama Canal Zone was U.S.A. territory is expounded by your obvious socialist/communist rhetoric about American imperialism.”

And here we go with the childish personal attacks again when I politely only attacked what you presented on Panama Canal history as the mere surface of what factually happened. So listen up closely you ignorant sleazy low life uniformed or ignorant shite for brains - Like most all citizens of the US, I am not, nor do I support socialism or communism that does exists only in your far right pea brained christian cult relgious right tiny beast brain otherwise known as the ‘subcortex’ [also called the lizard brain where these emotive ad hominem attacks stem from]…

IN FACT this very same AIM organization Kincaid uses as a far right wing tool of McCarthyism was also used by McCarthy’s Unamerican Activities Committe to disseminate right wing propagandist lies in attempting to indict the imaginary communists created by the far right back then.

I have some of the more pertinent PDF transcript files of the actual 1935 hearings on this fascist overthrow stopped by Marine General Smedley Butler. He also wrote a book called ‘War is a Racket’.

It’s an amazing true story of the same fascist corporatism we see today in what some say is George Bush’s completion of what his grand daddy attempted to do during the 1930s.

I’ll bet few if any of the far right cult wing nuts here know the republican party in 1940 received the majority of its campaign financing from Hitler’s Nazi Party. I also bet few if any know that Herbert Hoover, ex republican president, conspired in Germany with Hitler’s Nazis to again overthrow FDR in 1940. I also bet few to none know an Italian fascist era ‘Freemason’ attempted to assassinate FDR a few months before he was inagurated in May 1933…

Perhaps Bill Maher put it best in “I don’t hate Americans, I just don’t like Americans”. you sure are quick to tell someone else they are attacking you when in reality, you’re the one doing the name calling.
I’ll tell you this, you’re so full of yourself and so full of crap I can smell you from here.
Don’t try to tell me you know anything about freemasonry. I can already see you don’t. You’re just repeated what some idiot told you or you read something some idiot wrote.
Now, for being afraid of you, you can forget that crap right now. I’ve never seen a pea brained liberal like yourself that could stand up to anyone.
Matter of fact, that is why the liberals have such a hard time with conservative people. They are ashamed down deep that someone else has to defend their rights for them.

I told you one time I wouldn’t stoop to your level but I guess I just have.
I’m so sick of your idiotic thoughts and your foul mouth I’ll quit receiving your stupid answers but get one thing straight, it damn sure isn’t because I’m scared of your ignorant ass because I’m not, not in the least.

I know some people just like you. If someone don’t believe the way you do then they are ignorant and stupid. You know that is no way to be whatever you may spew out of that foul mouth.

Once upon a time, 654 years ago, when black Christians in Europe ruled that land some of their children chose to eat dung, and have sex with same sex as well as animals.

When they called their children on it, as the kids in turn promised to stop their perfidity, but when the appointed time came to end those practices, these youthful buggars declared holy war on their elders!

With lighting speed the elders were winning until
those bands determined to sprinkle them with the Black Plague.  Therefore, Baroque Obama has the answer for these tired and lazy masses?  How about the black emperor of Mexico, and his navy as well as the patent on silverware? Will giving Mexicans Fie Dollah Ho cut it?  Would the return of Lady Rebecca Raulf’s body from England ring any bells?  Can anyone explain why Europe celebrates All Saints Day [31 October] yet in Mexico 1, 2, and 3 October is called Days of the Dead---not All Saints Day?  Did we murder Christiandom, like we did in Europe and imbrace the anti-Christ?  Why did we force our black Christian mother’s and father’s bent Chrisian cross down the throat of India, and why would England see a need to enact anti-black laws called, The Untouchables?  Nevertheless, are The Untouchables America’s version of Jim Crow that was enacted by the French who created southern plantations?

Ad, Ad, Ad

Wow, I love how a few intelligent comments from me can cause you to write so much. So much hate and name calling. Common liberal actions - can’t defeat the arguement, so start the name calling.

I have no idea who Jim R is and we are not the same person.  Unlike your diatribe, there are more than a few people that will agree with my well reasoned arguments, even if you can’t defeat any of my statements without just going to citing numerous know communists in your defense.

You are correct I should not have called you unintelligent. Thanks for maintaining a higher standard.  OH WAIT, my one comment gets me attacked - well, no substance, just names from you.

For that I get “ignorant sleazy low life uniformed or ignorant shite for brains” – now that is really showing your intelligence.
“nor do I support socialism or communism that does exists only in your far right pea brained christian cult relgious right tiny beast brain” More amazing statements about me.  I would hardly call myself “far right”, let alone “Christian cult religious right”.  How about a fiscal conservative, anti-big government, 2nd amendment, pro-choice jew?

Excuse me – “socialism or communism that does not exist”?????  I am pretty sure both the economic structure of socialism and the political system of communism do exist in the world.

“Uniformed” – I have studied economics at two different universities from committed socialist professors.  I am pretty sure my background has informed me both on political and economic systems, and what they mean.  Do you want to compare resumes?

“Bullying . . . still a child” “you so ignorant or just too stupid”.  I did read those links, how did I know that every author you cite was an admitted communist or socialist?  How many stories do I have to read about Castro’s great economic policies to understand your cited authors?

McCarthy was a Senator from Wisconsin, and not a member of the HOUSE committee on Unamerican Activities.  That would be the same committee that Obama’s mentor plead the 5th amendment to prevent self-incrimination.  Tell me why did so many people invoke the 5th amendment when questioned about being members of the communist party if it is just “imaginary”???

Back to your diatribe about the fascist overthrow of the U.S. and the assignation of FDR.  My statement was merely making fun of improper use of the English language, but I guess you did not understand.  You wrote it in a form of the language that made it a fact that occurred.  Since it never actually occurred it would be a PLOT or ATTEMPTED, but not an actually event that occurred.

How many times can you state that McCarthy was involved with the House Committee on Un-American Activities?  Just a hint, wrong Chamber.  I suggest a little reading up on the different branches of the federal government.  Do you know you attack McCarthy as a right wing head of the committee, yet in the 41 year history of the HUAC, the Democratic Party controlled the House, and Democrats chaired the committee.  Interesting you don’t even know what party was running the show in the House all those years.

“I’ll bet few if any of the far right cult wing nuts here know the republican party in 1940 received the majority of its campaign financing from Hitler’s Nazi Party.” How come with all your love of Marxist writer cites, you don’t have one here?  How about we compare that to the Communist Party funding of the Democratic Party over the last 20 years?

Also no cite for Hoover/Hitler and the Italian/Mason attempts to overthrow FDR.  I am not sure how you can connect Italian and Freemasons since Catholics cannot associate with Freemasons?  Please provide citation for that story, I would love to read about it.

Well, well, well.  Ad where are you from?  “I don’t hate America, I just don’t like Americans”.  That shows you are not an American.  Please tell all us stupid Americans where your great intellectual brain originates.

PLEASE NOTE - I did not make one comment in any disparaging manner toward you.  Please provide an intellectual reply that does not require a million socialist writer cites, if possible.
