PAL Colossus gets exclusive content

Sony set to celebrate Shadow of the Colossus' European debut in mammoth style with PAL-only extras
By now, you've hopefully all had the fact that Shadow of the Colossus is utterly fantastic drummed into your heads, guaranteeing that you'll be down the shops on February 17 to make your purchase (let's not have a reprise of ICO's fate, if you please). To encourage you just that little bit more though, Sony has unveiled its plans for the game's European arrival.

Original ICO purchasers will be thrilled to hear that SotC will be packaged much the same way as the first title, coming in a luxurious cardboard containing four postcards - all featuring "magical moments from the game".

More excitingly though, us Europeans can enjoy some exclusive content in the form of video interviews with Shadow creators Fumito Ueda and Kenji Kaido, detailing the game's conception and development process. That's not all - the PAL version of the disc also contains an exclusive image gallery, containing concept art, stills and ICO's game trailer.

To mark the release of Shadow of the Colossus and re-release of ICO on February 17 (yes, we're hammering that one home), Sony has also announced two special events. The first is a competition to design a brand new Colossus - the winner will be hand-picked by Ueda-san and will be rewarded with a life-time trip for two to... destination to be confirmed, says Sony. If you're of a less artistic bent, you can also attend Sony's special SotC events around the country, where you'll be able to try the game on giant 16 metre screens, projected onto the sides of buildings.

For more information on all this, you can visit the game's official site. Also, while you're in a clicking mood, why not check out our recent interview with Ueda-san and find out which Colossus is least likely to worry his neighbours?

Oh, and one last time - both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus hit European stores on February 17. Got that?
