Woke up to congratulatory phone calls on another Prime Time Emmy nomination for Camp Lazlo. Very cool, and very fortunate. It was for the episode “First Crush” where Lazlo falls in love with the mermaid of Leaky Lake. Another recognition of the great crew we had! Nice way to start the day.
Yesterday, my legal team and I started yet another attempt to get the rights to a DVD collection of Rocko’s Modern Life. I would love to do a creators boxed set, with some great bonus features and such.
I get so many questions about a DVD collection. Yes, there are pirated ones available ( with questionable quality), but as of yet there is no “official” collection out there. I’m working on it.
I’ll keep the blog posted.

Yay, another Emmy! Congrats for your work!
We hope so much for the DVDs for RML

We have to remember it’s a nomination, not yet an Emmy. A few get nominated and then out of those one gets the Emmy. (Which we won last year).
We’ve only gotten nominated so far.
Thanks for all the great notes of support!

Joe, a moment of your time? According to the Library of Congress Copyright Catalog, CBS now owns Rocko’s Modern Life after the CBS-Viacom split.
Go on cocatalog.loc.gov, search Rocko’s Modern Life, click on the pilot or any other episode recorded in 2007, click on Tagged and other titles and you’ll see that it’s now owned by “CBS Operations, Inc.”.

Yeah, we are slowly tracking down the players. Thanks for the note!

Joe,
I’ve loved your work over the years. Rocko and Lazlo, especially, will always be dear to me. I’ve always wondered what you’ve thought of “Ren and Stimpy.” Or the movie “Ratatouille.” Also, what kind of music do you like. I’ve always pictured animators and cartoonists to be rather “freethinkers,” so they’d probably enjoy jazz more than any other genre. You wouldn’t by chace be a DEADHEAD, would you? The Grateful Dead always seemed to attract more “artists” than usual, and the group Phish, as well. Just thought I’d pique your brain on these subjects, and I wish you well with the new projects! Sincerely, fan Mark (7-23-08)

Congratulations on the nomination! Hope you guys win! For me, you guys proved digital animation could look just as good as cel animtion.
Short form animated program is new this year isn’t it? Do you know anything about why they added the category? definitely welcomed! but it should be as important an award as outstanding animated series.
also were you aware that select Rocko’s Modern Life episodes are on iTunes ?

What is Nickelodeons problem with not doing season/series box sets(with the exception Spongebob)?
I’d love to see great bonus features and such, also perhaps your short films. Or those could be a whole other DVD!
