I'm gonna be posting EVERY DAY from now until Christmas Eve!

Today my post is about Edmund McMillen and the 10 year compilation CD he introduced to the NG store.

Edmund, who goes by Bluebaby here on NG, has been contributing to the Flash Portal since early 2001. His first submission had me at hello:

Edmund's early movies were generally grotesque, followed by a year of Dead Baby submissions:

Between 2002 and 2003, Edmund and I started work on a cactus platforming game. Unfortunately, I had to cease my end of production to focus on programming the console version of Alien Hominid. Edmund managed fine without me, teaming up with RiftMaster to produce a series of amazing Badlands games:

Edmund laid low for a while, taking time to develop the critically acclaimed PC platformer, GISH. We met up at the 2005 Independent Games Festival, where Edmund won the grand prize for Gish and took the opportunity to propose to then-girlfriend Danielle. She said YES.

In 2006, Edmund teamed up with physics-genius Komix to produce Tri-achnid:

He also showed up at the 2006 IGF and got dissed by that girl from the Real World.

Through 2007, Edmund continued to work with RiftMaster, finally revisiting that cactus platformer idea:

They also made a slick on-line multiplayer fighting game!

Edmund has become a big proponent of the idea of games as art, as he explains to Luis in this interview. Every game he touches has that distinctive Edmund vibe, and each truly is a work of art. Highlights of 2008 include:

It's been a break-out year for Edmund and it all culminates with the release of his 10 year compilation CD in the NG store. This CD not only contains everything Edmund has submitted to NG, it has just about everything he has made in the past decade. That includes over 450 pages of comics, over 300 pages of sketchbooks, lots of movies, animation and commentary.

Edmund has survived (and often struggled) for ten years as an indendent artist and now is your chance to help contribute to ten more: BUY THE CD!
