Ibrahim Kanaan:

   Ibrahim Kanaan is currently serving his first term in the Lebanese Parliament representing the El Metn District. 


   The El Metn District covers a large part of Mount Lebanon. It is to be noted that he was on the top of the winners in 2005 on the list of the Free Patriotic Movement with 56840 votes on the free Patriotic Party list.


   Kanaan’s top priorities are remodeling a new modern electoral law which reflects a relatively true representation of the political society in Parliament, creating new jobs and economic opportunities across Lebanon, fighting corruption in public and private sector, lowering the costs of health care, improving the independence of the Judiciary, restructuring the security apparel. 


   As the Chair of the Youth and Sport Parliamentary Commission, he has an impact on nearly every fact of the life of young and elder people; he is also the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Bloc of the Free Patriotic Movement. He is an elected member of the highest Parliamentary Court and an active member at the Justice and Administration Commission, as well as a member of the Human Right Parliamentary Commission. Besides, he chairs since 2004 the International Legal Affairs Committee at the Beirut Bar Association.


   Ibrahim lives in his hometown in El Metn (Lebanon) traveling to London and KSA for his law firm meetings; which since his election has been sensibly reduced. He is married to Tania Saadé, they have two daughters: Maria (14) and Rita (11).

Established The Liberation of Lebanon Front – London in 1990. 

Contributed in establishing the Lebanese-British Association for civil liberties in Lebanon, that included a number of British MPs among whom a former Minister of Foreign Affairs. A delegation from the Association visited Lebanon on the 7-8-9-10 of April 1996, and participated in a conference entitled: “Democracy in Lebanon: Electoral Law and Election Monitoring” organized by the Lebanese Center of Legal and economic studies chaired by Kanaan. . 
 
Nominated by the Leader of the Free Patriotic movement General Michel Aoun, on the 7th of February as the first FPM candidate for the Maronite seat in the El Metn region for the 2005 Parliamentary Elections.
