Golden finish
In Torino, Lee Ho-Suk earned silver medals in the men's 1500m and 1000m, both times finishing behind countryman Ahn Hyun-Soo. On the final night of competition, Lee earned a gold medal, this time skating with Ahn in the 5000m relay. The 2005-06 season was Lee's first on the senior national team, with the Olympics marking his first major championships at that level.

Out of the shadow
During the 2007-08 season, Lee emerged as the top South Korean when he finished the season ranked first in the world, with Ahn finishing second. At the 2008 World Championships, Lee won the 1000m and the 5000m relay, also earning a silver in the 1500m, to finish second overall at the event. One year later, with Ahn missing the season to a knee injury, he won both the 1000m and 1500m at the 2009 World Championships and earned the overall title. But he also finished the season ranked second in the world, close behind countryman Sung Si-Bak - likely to be one of his main competitors in Vancouver.

Breakout season
The South Korean burst onto the international short-track scene in 2005-06, finishing second (behind Ahn) in the overall World Cup standings. He won the 1000m crown and finished second in the 1500m standings, earning him the nickname "Little Ahn." Though Lee is only one year younger, Ahn had been competing on the senior circuit since 2002 and was widely known as South Korea's top skater. Lee was dubbed the next great hope for the nation.

Junior achiever
Before moving up to the senior level, Lee was a standout on the junior circuit. The South Korean was the junior world champion three-straight years years, winning medals (including five golds) in every individual event. Born and raised in Seoul, Lee is studying physical education at the local Kyung Hee University. Off the ice he likes to read and listen to music.
