Florida Keys red tide report for 04-04-2010:
Now it’s both sides off Monroe county having a “patchy outbreak of medium intensity.

Red Tide Report for 03-21-2010:
Any time we have big rains, we have to worry about a red tide bloom following in the next few days. Although the waters of Florida are still a little cold, we have the other conditions that favor a red tide bloom. Those would be low concentration of K Brevis , a long period with no rain and a lot of pollution, especially fertilizers, poised at the water lines waiting to be washed into our waters by the rain.
Sarasota Fl red tide report for for 03-21-2010:
Very low concentrations of K. Brevis which is red tide.

Florida Keys red tide report for 03-21-2010:
The northern side of Monroe county, in the bottom portion of the keys is having a “patchy outbreak of medium intensity.

Naples FL / Marco Island FL red tide report for 12-01-2010:
Although FWRI current status web page shows no red tide in the Naples area, reports form the press, fishing guide and citizens indicate a strong red tide that causes respiratory distress in humans and a large fish kill. Some reports indicate this red tide bloom is drifting slowly southward. Currently it appears that the Marco Island area of Florida is strongly effected as well as Naples, the Naples Pier, Lowdermilk Park and Sanibel Island area are effected. I haven’t heard anything from the Pine Island area, but one would guess it’s still effected too since it’s so close to these other areas.
NOAA is using satellite imagery to track high chlorophyll levels, a possible sign of red tide, along shore from northern Collier County south to Marco Island and in another band six to seven miles offshore of central Collier County. Again FWRI reports and all clear for the area.

Sarasota red tide report for 11-21-2009:
FWRI shows a moderate intensity red tide bloom right off shore. It appears to be right near the mouths of the inlets stretching to a few miles off shore.

Texas Red tide report for 11-21-2009:
Corpus Christi Bay, South Padre island and Boca Chica are still being effected by Red Tide. High levels of red tide were found in these areas. There’s a fish kill in Corpus Christi Inner Harbor and the Brownsville ship channel.

Red Tide Report for 11-07-2009:
Florida’s east coast now has a little Red Tide in the Mosquito Lagoon area. There’s alos a little more dense red tide bloom in Palm Beach county. (How long has this been out there?)

Sarasota County, Florida: This red tide bloom is increasing in size yet again.  Red tide is now present several miles offshore.  The areas around Sarasota’s New Pass and Big Pass are still effected with a mild red tide. The density of the red tide organism does not appear to be increasing nor decreasing.

Ft. Myers, Naples, Sanibel Island areas of  Lee county and Collier County Florida.  This red tide is getting huge and is increasing in severity.  It appears to be creeping into the inshore areas of the Ft Myers and Lee County areas.  There’s also two fish kills drifting around in the area. One has already drifted ashore on Sanibel. The other is quite large and just drifting a couple miles offshore. Last week it was about 10 miles out. Here’s a vid about it:

Texas Red Tide Report 11-07-2009:

A large fish kill in Corpus Christi Bay. South Padre Island as well. Red tide all over the area dead fish in numerous spots. It’s going to get worse for the Texans before it gets better. It looks like this is a huge bloom with red tide spotted as far as 200 Miles off shore by TPWD.

10-31-2009 Red Tide report:
The various red tide blooms along the west coast of Florida are increasing in size and severity.

Sarasota county: the red tide along  New Pass and Big pass are growing and becoming a little more intense.  Still not real bad though.

Lee County: This red tide bloom is getting large, 2 red tide blooms have merged into one large one.  There’s a huge fish kill and red tide is visible to the naked eye a few mile (actually 10 miles according to FWRI) off shore of Sanibel island and anywhere around the beaches is either not fit for humans and animals or soon will be.

10-25-2009 Red Tide Report:

Sarasota county still has some red tide, it seems largely unaffected by the latest cold front.
Ft. Myers / Naples Florida had a large area, high intensity bloom a few weeks ago, testing by FWRI has been suspended for some reason in the area (no comment yet from FWRI), but in the areas around Ft. Myers that they did test, there is red tide (Karenia . Brevis).
St Petersburg Florida seems free of Red Tide at the moment.

Texas’s red tide report :
bloom around the South Padre Island area is still lingering, as are the piles of dead fish in some areas.  Although it sure sounds like thy are better at cleaning up the dead fish in Texas than they are in Florida!

10-18-2009 Red Tide Report:

There is an intense Red Tide Bloom rapidly forming off Of the Naples/Ft Myers area.  This patch of red tide is either spreading all the way north to Charlotte Harbor or there is a second bloom, not as intense but also growing rapidly, in that area.

The red tide in the Tampa bay area seems to have dissipated for now.  That’s great news!

The red tide bloom just off shore of Sarasota Bay is still there. FWRI isn’t showing it on it’s maps but it is included in there text summaries. This Harmful Algae Bloom seems to be growing in size.
