Various sites including Deadline.com are reporting that Fox has ordered two more scripts for Human Target which is set to premiere on November 17 at 8pm.
There are also reports that both Rules of Engagement and How I Met Your Mother have had two more episodes (not just scripts) ordered, and that orders for The Big Bang Theory, and Two and a Half Men look to be in the works.
Fox ordered two more scripts of a lowly rated show last season that hasn’t aired yet this season (new episodes?)
Wow that’s just awesome
So that makes 24 for HIMYM
Hadn’t HYMIM already received 2 extra episodes sometime ago? That’s strange for HT, but I guess scripts don’t cost much…
Yes!!! The more RoE the better!!!
I’m a little confused by the HT script order wasn’t it in the low 2′s last season? I guess Fox has faith
CBS is hedging their midseason bets –
And I wonder if they are actually quietly trying all ‘new’ content. Wasn’t whasis name from NBC on about doing that when he cleverly did away with pilot season that one year?
CBS could accomplish that.
Here’s hoping Fox shows some patience with Human Target. Developing into a solid show that is both fun and has an interesting backstory. I’m sure it is a bit expensive and I’m not too sure the Friday timeslot is a good sign, but at least they pushed it past baseball and it won’t get a hiccup start. Almost makes me wonder if they should just wait until January and try to hype the premiere for awhile.
I’m surprised RoE received the order. They used to build upon the HIMYM lead-in but this season they are losing viewers
I like Human Target, it is actually a quality show in the making, i hope the finesse some of the scripting from last year and take it to the next level.
it really is a fun show.
Wait…
HIMYM got an additional 2 episodes, bringing the season total up to 24 episodes just a week or two ago. Wouldn’t this make 26 episodes this year? Same goes for BBT and Two and a Half Men, which I thought both had 24 episodes already this season…
I’m actually aggravated that Human Target has added TWO new cast members already when I don’t feel they were actually needed. Especially since I think one of them is the irritating FBI agent from last year. When couldnt’ they just have kept Autumn Reeser before they lost her to no ordinary family
so how many episode goes HIMYM get this season ?? 24 ?? 26 ??
So….is there a difference between ordering more scripts and ordering more episodes? Is one a gaurantee than the other?
@ Ryan S:
as I recall it, how i met your mother would make 24+2 now?
TBBT has 23 episodes as the last 2 seasons if I´m right + whatever now comes.
TaaHM has 22 or 24 there I don´t know it exactly, would say its more likely the 22.
HIMYM got 2 SCRIPTS a few weeks ago. These are those scripts being picked up. It’s now 24 episodes.
@LR: FOX already announced that Human Target will not be airing on Friday nights, but instead will be airing on Wednesdays starting mid-November.
When it was renewed, it was renewed for 24 episodes, as is the per use nowadays for it. I am assuming this makes 26 episodes.
HIMYM got those episodes two weeks ago, it just wasn’t reported here at the time. HIMYM has 24 episodes for this season and so does RoE. Men and TBBT have 22 episodes each and so does Mike and Molly. SMDS only has 19, so I still say that’s the one that gets bumped for Mad Love (unless CBS orders a full season of Dad and pushes ML to summer).
@JFrick
All shows, when renewed for full seasons, get 22 episodes unless otherwise indicated at the upfronts. There’s not a single show that starts a season with 24 episodes.
Men still has 22, although I’m betting CBS will order 3 more, because 24 is the standard for Men, plus they had to cut two episodes from last season’s order due to Sheen’s legal problems, so I think this season and the next one will have 25 episodes each.
SJ, I don’t think they’ll push ML to summer. They have a chance for a bigger hit than Shit. Shit’s retention (I know, I know) out of TBBT isn’t as good as CBS would have hoped, but still great. They will probably try ML out of TBBT to see how it does.
I hope that the new woman that’s being added to HT doesn’t detract from the great chemistry that Mark Valley, Chi McBride and Jackie Earle Haley have together.
