REGISTRATIONS RULES & REGULATIONS OF
THE AMERICAN RARE BREED
ASSOCIATION
CHAPTER 1 DOG SHOW CLASSIFICATIONS
SECTION 1. The following breeds and/or varieties of
breeds, divided by groups shall be all the breeds and/or varieties of breeds for which regular classes of the
American Rare Breed Association may be provided at any show held under American Rare Breed Association rules.
The Board of Directors may either add to, transfer from one group to another, or delete from said list of breeds
and/or varieties of breeds, whenever in its opinion, such action
is justified, for group and best in show competition and to obtain
an American Rare Breed Association Championship or when a breed has been fully recognized by The
American Rare Breed Association. Dogs exhibiting in an American Rare
Breed Association show must be registered with the
American Rare Breed Association
SECTION 2. The regular classes of the American Rare
Breed Association that are divided by sex are as follows: Six Month to Nine Months Nine Month to Fifteen Months Novice (Optional) Bred by Exhibitor American Bred Open Winners Competition
SECTION 3. The Six to Nine Month Puppy Class shall
be for dogs that are at least six months of age, but under nine months on the day of the show date. The age of a dog
shall be calculated up to the date of the show. For example, a dog
whelped on January 1st is eligible to compete in a six to nine month
puppy class at a show the first day of July of' the same year and may compete in six to nine
month puppy class at shows until October 1st of that same year.
SECTION 4. The Nine to Fifteen Month Puppy Class
shall be for dogs that are at least nine months of age, but under fifteen months on the day of the show date.
The age of a dog shall be calculated up to the date of the show. For example, a dog whelped on January 1st is
eligible to compete in a nine to fifteen month puppy class at a show the first day of October of the same year and may
compete in nine to fifteen month puppy class at shows until April1st of the following year.
SECTION 5. The Novice Class shall be for dogs six
months of age and over which have not, prior to the date of closing of entries, won two first prizes in the
Novice Class, a first prize in Bred by Exhibitor, American bred, or Open Classes, nor one or more CACUS cards toward
their championship.
SECTION 6. The Bred by Exhibitor Class shall be for
dogs that are six months of age and over, that are not champions. Dogs entered in this class must be
handled in the class by the breeder or co-breeders of record only.
SECTION 7. The American bred Class shall be for all
dogs (except champions) six months of age and over, whelped in the United States of America.
SECTION 8. The Open Class shall be for any dog six
months of age or over.
SECTION 9. The Winners Competition shall be divided
by sex and each division shall be open only to undefeated dogs of the same sex which have won first prizes,
with excellent ratings, in either the Six to Nine Month Puppy,2
Nine to
Fifteen Month Puppy, Novice, Bred by Exhibitor, American bred or
Open Classes. There shall be no entry fee for Winners competition. a) After the Winners prize has been awarded in one
of the sex divisions, the second prize winning dog with an excellent rating, if undefeated, except by the dog
awarded Winners, shall compete with the other eligible dogs for Reserve Winners. No eligible dog may be withheld
from competition.
SECTION 10. The regular classes of the American Rare
Breed Association in which dogs and bitches compete together are as follows: Breed Club Class Certificate of Aptitude for Championship in the
United States Competition
SECTION 11. Breed Club Class competition is eligible
only for dogs awarded a championship by their respected breed club. Both dogs and bitches compete together.
One dog and one bitch will be selected for this class.
SECTION 12. Certificate of Aptitude for Championship
in the United States (CACUS) Competition is eligible to:1) Breed Club Winner Dog,2) Breed Club Winner Bitch,3) Winners Dog and 4) Winners Bitch There shall be
no entry fee for competition in the CACUS Competition. a) The CACUS is given to one dog and one bitch. b) The Best of Winners is awarded to either the
Winners Dog or Winners Bitch.
SECTION 13. Best of Breed competition is eligible
to:1 ) Dogs that are Champions of Beauty of the
American Rare Breed Association2) Dogs which according to their owners' records
have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championship is unconfirmed after the first show of
any show cluster. The showing of dogs whose championship is unconfirmed is limited to a period of 30 days from
the date of show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner's records,3) Both dog and bitch CACUS winners and 4) Veteran
Class winner who competed at the show only in the Veteran Class, a non-regular class, which is available to
National Specialties. a) After Best of Breed has been awarded, the judge
shall select Best of Opposite Sex to the Best of Breed. Dogs eligible are1) Dogs of opposite sex to Best of Breed that have
been entered for Best of Breed competition, and2) Any undefeated dogs of the opposite sex to Best
of Breed which have competed at the show only inspecific non-regular classes available to National
Specialties only.
SECTION 14. Seven groups to be arranged in same
order and to comprise the same breeds and recognized varieties of breeds as herein before set forth in Chapter 1,
Section 1, Addendum A.
SECTION 15. An American Rare Breed Show, offering
seven groups, must also offer a Best in Show. The winner to be entitled "Best In Showy No entry fee shall be
charged but the seven group winners must compete.
SECTION 16. The non-regular classes of the American
Rare Breed Association that is divided by sex are as follows: Junior Puppy (36 Months) 24 Month Puppy Class
Offered to National Specialties only 46 Month Puppy Class Offered to
National Specialties only.
SECTION 17. The Junior Puppy Class competition is
eligible to dogs that are at least three months of age, but under six months on the day of the show date. The age of a
dog shall be calculated up to the date of the show. For example, a dog whelped on January 1st is eligible to
compete in a Junior Puppy class at a show the first day of April of the same year and may compete in junior puppy
classes at shows July 1st of that same year.
SECTION 18. The 24 Month Class is offered only to
National Specialties, when hosted by the American Rare Breed Association. The 24 Month Puppy Class competition is
eligible for dogs that are at least two months of age, but under four months on the day of the show date. The
age of a dog shall be calculated up to the date of the show. For
example, a dog whelped on January 1st is eligible to compete in a
two to four month class at a show the first day of March of the same
year and may compete in the two to four month class at shows until
May 1st of that same year.
SECTION 19. The 46 Month Class is offered only to
National Specialties, when hosted by the American Rare Breed Association. The 46 Month Puppy Class competition is
eligible for dogs that are at least four months of age, but under six months on the day of the show date. The
age of a dog shall be calculated up to the date of the show. For example, a dog whelped on January 1st is eligible to
compete in a four to six month class at a show the first day of May of the same year and may compete in the four to
six month class at shows until July 1st of that same year.
SECTION 20. Best of Breed Junior Puppy competition
is eligible to:1 ) First Place winner of Junior Puppy Dog,2) First Place winner Junior Puppy Bitch and3) In the case of a National Specialty; a) First Place Winner of two to four month class
dog. b) First Place Winner of two to four month class
bitch. c) First Place Winner of four to six month class
dog. d) First Place Winner of four to six month class
bitch.
SECTION 21. Junior Puppy groups to be arranged in
same order and to comprise the same breeds and recognized varieties of breeds as herein before set forth in
Chapter 1, Section 1, Addendum A. All dogs who have won Best of Breed Junior Puppy at the show where these group
classes are given, shall be eligible to compete in group classes to
which they belong, and all dogs designated Best of Variety Junior
Puppy in those breeds with more than one recognized variety, shall be eligible to compete in
the group classes where they belong. All eligible breeds for these group classes shall be made after judging of the
regular classes has been finished and no entry fee shall be charged. In the event that the owner of a dog designated Best
of Breed Junior Puppy or Best of Variety Junior Puppy shall not
exhibit the dog in the group class to which it is eligible, no other
dog of the same breed or variety of breed shall be allowed to
compete.
SECTION 22. An American Rare Breed Association Show,
offering seven groups, must also offer a Junior Puppy Best in Show. The winner to be entitled "Junior
Puppy Best In Shown No entry fee shall be charged but the seven group winners must compete.
SECTION 23 The non-regular class which is offered
only to National Specialties only when hosted by the American Rare Breed Association, where dogs and bitches
compete together, is as follows: Veteran Class
SECTION 24. The Veteran Class, not divided by sex,
shall be for dogs and bitches that are at least seven (7) years on the show date. Neutered or spayed dogs can only
participate in the Veteran Class. The winner may not compete in Best of Breed
SECTION 25. The non-regular classes which are
offered only to National Specialties when hosted by the American Rare Breed Association, which involve multiple dogs,
are as follows: Brace Class Stud Dog Class Brood Bitch Class
SECTION 26. Brace Class shall be for two dogs,
irrespective of sex, which are bred or owned by the same breeder.
SECTION 27. Stud Dog Class shall be for the stud dog
and two of his Get. Stud Dogs must be shown in the ring with their Get. Owner of Stud Dog need not
necessarily be owner of Get.
SECTION 28. Brood Bitch Class shall be for the brood
bitch and two of her produce. Brood Bitches must be shown in the ring with their Produce. Owner of the Brood
Bitch need not be necessarily the owner of the Produce.
SECTION 29. A Junior Showmanship competition may be
offered if the American Rare Breed Association's Show Committee chooses. All dogs shown must be listed in
any of the groups cited in Chapter 1, Section 1, Addendum A. The classes are as follows: Pee Wee Class Junior Class Senior Class
SECTION 30. Junior Showmanship Peewee Class may be
for boys and girls who on the show date are at least five years of age and under ten years of age.
SECTION 31. Junior Showmanship Junior Class may be
for boys and girls who on the show date are at least ten years of age and under four
teen years of age. The
dogs shown must be fully recognized by the American Rare Breed Association.
SECTION 32. Junior Showmanship Senior Class may be
for boys and girls who, on the show date, are at least fourteen years of age and under eighteen years of
age. The dogs shown must be fully recognized by the American Rare Breed Association.
SECTION 33. Best Junior Handler competition is
eligible to the winners of:1 ) Junior Showmanship Pee-Wee Class First Place
Winner.2) Junior Showmanship Junior Class First Place
Winner.3) Junior Showmanship Senior Class First Place
Winner. SECTION 34. Neutered or spayed dogs may be shown in
all Junior Showmanship classes.
SECTION 34. The Miscellaneous Breed Class shall be
for purebred dogs of such breeds as may be designated by the Board of Directors of The American Rare Breed
Association.1) all Miscellaneous breeds may be shown in regular
classes.2) These breeds will receive ribbons.3) These breech can not compete for group placement.4) These breeds will be entered in a show for
Exhibition Only at the regular entry fee provided the dog has been awarded first prize in one of the regular classes.5) These breeds may appear in their respected group
ring as EXHIBITION ONLY.6) The miscellaneous breeds are as follows:

ADDENDUM B CHAPTER 2 RIBBONS, PRIZES AND TROPHIES
SECTION 1. The following colors will be used for
prize cards and ribbons in the regular classes of The American Rare Breed Association. Effective September 1, 1994First Place Blue Card Second Place Red Card Third Place Yellow Card Fourth Place White Card Winners Purple Ribbon Reserve Winners Purple/White Ribbon Best of Winners Blue/White Ribbon CACUS Winners White Certificate Best of Breed Purple/Gold Ribbon Best of Opposite Sex to the Best of Breed Red/White Ribbon
SECTION 2. The following colors will be used for the
ribbons for non-regular classes and Junior Puppy Group: First Place Pink Second Place Brown Third Place Lt.
Green Fourth Place Gray
SECTION 3. The following colors will be used for
Rosettes for Group classes: First Place Blue Rosette Second Place Red Rosette Third Place Yellow Rosette Fourth Place White Rosette Effective September 1, 1994
SECTION 4. The colors Light Blue and White will be
used for the Rosette for Junior Puppy Best In Show.
SECTION 5. The colors Navy Blue, White & Gold will
be used for the Rosette for the Adult Best In Show.
SECTION 6. Placement cards must have written on each
card the name of THE AMERICAN RARE B RE E D ASSOCIATION,
the date, Catalogue Number, the Show, and rating scores of Excellent, Very Good, Good and Satisfactory. The
sentence (Please circle one of the above ratings)" must be written on the bottom of the card.
SECTION 7 The CACUS Certificate must have written on
each certificate the name of THE AMERICAN RARE BREED ASSOCIATION, the wording of CACUS, followed by
the description, (Certificate of Aptitude for Championship in the United States), the Show,
Catalogue Number, Date, and the Judges Signature.
SECTION 8. Once a prize is offered in a premium list
of a show, it may not be revoked or substituted
SECTION 9. A perpetual trophy for a particular show
may be offered on a three-time win basis. The permanent possession goes to the owner(s) and/or breeder
winning the award three times, not necessarily with the same dog. Possession will remain with the show official until
the perpetual trophy has been won. The dog's name will been graved on the trophy. A smaller trophy will be
given to the winner.
CHAPTER 3 PREMIUM LISTING & CLOSING OF ENTRIES
SECTION 1. The premium list of a show sponsored by
the American Rare Breed Association must contain anddisclose:1 ) the listing of American Rare Breed Association's
Officers, Board Members, Show Chairman, and Show Secretary. The premium list must disclose if the
show is benched or unbenched, the exact location of the show, the date or dates of the show site and hours of
operation.
SECTION 2. The listing of American Rare Breed
Association's breed classification of the breeds must be included in the premium list.
SECTION 3. The Show Committee may make decisions
regarding the governing of a show as long as they follow the rules the American Rare Breed Association, and
provided that they do not discriminate between breeds or between dogs entered in show classes or obedience
class in the required hour of arrival and the hour of removal. Any additional rules will be printed in the premium
list for a particular show.
SECTION 4. The American Rare Breed Association
prohibits any dog to be entered in more than one regular breed class per show. a) Exhibitors will be able to enter non-regular
classes Chapter 1, Section 2328 provided that they are entered in
one regular class during that show.
SECTION 5. No prizes may be accepted or offered at a
show unless they are published in the premium list or show catalog; nor may any be withdrawn or the conditions
change after they have been published in the premium list, show catalog, or a separate list of prizes. a) In an American Rare Breed Association sponsored
specialty, if the donor of a prize that has been published in the premium list, show catalog, or separate list of
prizes, shall fail to furnish the prize, the hosting specialty shall promptly supply a prize of the same description and
of no less value. b) If the donor of a prize that has been published
in the premium list of a show or in the separate list of prizes
shall fail to furnish the prize, the American Rare Breed
Association shall not be responsible for supplying a prize.
SECTION 6. Every premium list shall specify the date
and time at which entries for a show shall close. The premium list shall also specify the name and address
of the location of where to mail the entries. For all shows the specified closing date and time must be not be more
than three weeks and not less than one week from the date of the show. a) The entry forms must in hand at the
Superintendent's Office as listed on the premium, by the closing
date in order to become a valid entry. b) Whenever the closing day noted above falls on a
postal holiday, the entries received on the following day may be accepted. c) All exhibitors must be in good standing with the
American Rare Breed Association, as well as the other major registries, i.e., the American Kennel Club, the
Federation Cynologique Internationale, the United Kennel Club, etc. before he or she may enter or register his or her
dog with the American Rare Breed Association. The exhibitor also must not have been convicted in any
jurisdiction
with regards to an cruelty, safety, or other related offenses that concerns animals. The co-owner may not show or have
exhibit any dog(s) that are co-owned by the individual convicted of any of the above or related offenses
against animals. d) All exhibitors must follow the rules and
regulations of their Parent Breed Clubs or the rules and regulations
of the Parent Breed Club that their breed would belong to
even though they may not be a member of that Parent Breed Club for his or her breed.
SECTION 7. After the closing date listed in the
premium, no pre-entries will be accepted, canceled or substituted. Entries received after the closing date will be
invalid. Entries received after the closing date will be responsible
for the day of show price. The entries may be mailed
back to the maker, or held by the Superintendent until the show date. If held by the Superintendent, a notice must
be sent as official notice for the day of show entry price.
SECTION 8. Day of Show entries will be taken only
during the posted times and dates as specified in the show premium.
CHAPTER 4 SUPER INTENDENTS
SECTION 1. The Director of Dog Shows of the American
Rare Breed Association will serve as the Chief Superintendent at any or all shows approved by the
American Rare Breed Association's Board of Directors. The Chief Superintendent has final authority to make
necessary adjustments or arrangements of a dog show while the dog show is in progress.
SECTION 2. The Superintendents of a Dog Show held
under the rules of The American Rare Breed Association must be approved by the Show Committee Chairman of
the American Rare Breed Association.
SECTION 3. An individual wishing to serve as
superintendent of an all breed dog show, must be approved by the American Rare Breed Association's Show Committee and
Board of Directors.
SECTION 4. Any qualified person who is in good
standing with The American Rare Breed Association may apply to act as a Superintendent of a dog show, which
application must be made on a form upon request. When the application is received by The American Rare Breed
Association, its Board of Directors shall determine whether the applicant is reasonably qualified from training and
experience to act as Superintendent of a Dog Show.
SECTION 5. Superintendents shall have the authority
to enforce the rules during dog shows. Appeals may be made to the Trial Board, See Chapter 14.
SECTION 6. Superintendents shall have the sole
authority to excuse a dog from being shown on the recommendation of the veterinarian under Chapter 4,
SECTION
7. Show Committees will be responsible for making
complete arrangements with each one of the veterinarians selected to service the show. In the
event that a recognized Veterinary Association is to furnish the veterinarians the complete arrangements shall be
made with the Show Chairman
SECTION 8. Superintendents shall have on hand, at
every show, the various Official American Rare Breed Association forms for the use of
veterinarians.
SECTION 9 and to release dogs from a show prior to the published time for the releasing of dogs, except in
the event that a dog has been dismissed from a show by a veterinarian under Chapter 4,
SECTION 10. If the American Rare Breed Association
elects to have a veterinarian in attendance at shows, the Superintendents will be responsible for providing a
suitable space which will serve as the headquarters. At shows, with a veterinarian "on calls the Superintendents or
Show Headquarters shall serve as "Veterinarian Headquarters."
SECTION 11. Upon the presentation at the
"Veterinarians Headquarters" of a dog whose health has been
questioned by an exhibitor or handler, it shall be the duty of
one of the show veterinarians, as soon as practical, to make an examination of the dog. If he considers that the dog
should be dismissed from the show or cluster of shows, he will ask the superintendent to see that the dog is
removed. Also, the dog will lose its right to register any of its
litters in the future with the American Rare Breed Association.
CHAPTER 5 DOG SHOW ENTRIES ELIGIBILITY
SECTION 1. Any breed of dog that is recognized by
the American Rare Breed Association, either whelped in the United States or foreign, is eligible to participate
in the dog shows of the American Rare Breed Association.1) A Breed that is grandfathered under Chapter 5,
Section 2b is the White German Shepherd Dog. Effected September
1, 1994
SECTION
2. No pre-entry may be changed or canceled
unless notice of the change or cancellation is received by overnight messenger, by telegram, or facsimile by
the Superintendent of the American Rare Breed Association prior to the closing date and hour as specified in the
premium list for entries. A correction may be made in the sex of a dog, or a dog may be transferred prior to the
judging, when according to their owners records the dog has
completed the requirements for the breed club class after the
closing of entries for a show, provided this transfer is made by the
Superintendent least one half hour prior to the scheduled start of
judging at the show. No dog may otherwise be transferred to another
class. Owners are responsible for errors in the entry forms,
regardless of who may make such errors.
SECTION
3. No day of show entry may be changed or
canceled. A correction may be made in the sex of a dog, or a dog may be transferred prior to the judging, when
according to their owners records the dog has completed the requirements breed club class or have completed the
requirements of for a Championship of Beauty of The American Rare Breed Association, provided this
transfer is made by the Superintendent at least one half hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation
judging at the show. No dog may otherwise be transferred to another class. Owners are responsible for errors in
the entry forms, regardless of who may make such errors.
SECTION 4. Any dog entered in a class for which it
is not eligible, by virtue of age, sex, winnings, or any other reason, shall forfeit any and all points, CACUS, and
other awards that it may win by virtue of the incorrect entry.
SECTION 5. If a dog is later individually
registered with a name that is not identical to the name under which ithas been entered in dog shows prior to individual
registration, each entry form entering the dog in a licensed or member dog show after the owner has received the
individual registration certificate must show the registered name followed by "formerly shown as. and the name under
which the dog was previously shown, until the dog has been awarded one of the four places in a regular class at
a show.
SECTION 6. Every dog must be entered in the name of
the person who actually owned the dog at the time entries closed. The right to exhibit a dog cannot be
transferred. A registered dog which has been acquired by some person other than the owner must be entered in the name of
its new owner at any show for which entries close after the date
upon which the dog was acquired, and application for transfer of
ownership must be sent to The American Rare Breed Association by the
new owner within seven days after the last day of the show. The new
owner should state on the entry form that transfer application has
been mailed to The American Rare Breed Association or will bemailed shortly. If there is any unavoidable delay in
obtaining the completed application required to record the transfer, The American Rare Breed Association may
grant a reasonable extension of time, provided the new owner notifies the Show Records Department of The American
Rare Breed Association by mail within seven days after the show, or the reason for the delay. If an entry is
made by a duly authorized agent of the owner, the name of the actual
owner must be shown on the entry form. If a dog is owned by an
association. the name of the association, and a list of its officers
must be shown on the entry form.
SECTION 7. A dog which is blind, deaf, castrated,
spayed, or which has been changed in appearance by artificial means except as specified in the standard for its
breed, or a male which does not have two normal testicles normally located in the scrotum, may not compete at any show
and will be disqualified. A dog that has been proven unhealthy, will also lose its right to registration
with the American Rare Breed Association. A dog will not be considered to have been changed by artificial means
because of removal of dew claws or docking of tail if it is of a breed in which such removal or docking is a
regularly approved practice which is not contrary to the standard. Neutered dogs and spayed bitches would be allowed to
compete in Veterans Classes but these classes can not offer any competitive classes beyond Best of Breed.
a) When a judge finds any of these conditions in any dog he is judging, he shall disqualify the dog marking his
sheet Disqualified and stating the reason. He shall not obtain the opinion of the show veterinarian. The judges report
will also go to the American Rare Breed Association office to investigate whether the dog should lose its
registration rights.
SECTION 8. When a dog has been disqualified at a
show as being blind, deaf, castrated, spayed or changed in appearance by artificial means except as specified
in the standard for its breed, any awards taken by such dog at that
show shall be canceled by The American Rare Breed Association and
the dog may not again compete unless and until, following application by the owner to The
American Rare Breed Association, that owner has received official notification from The American Rare Breed
Association Board of Directors that the dog's show eligibility has
been reinstated.
SECTION 9. When a dog has been disqualified under
the standard for its breed, or when a male has been disqualified as not having two normal testicles
normally located in the scrotum, on two separate occasions by any combination of two different judges, such dog may
not again be shown. When a dog has been disqualified at a show, any awards taken by the dog at that show shall
be canceled by The American Rare Breed Association. The American Rare Breed Association can also remove the
dog from its registry.
SECTION 10. A dog is considered changed in
appearance by artificial means if it has been subjected to any type
of procedure that has the effect of obscuring,
disguising or eliminating any congenital or hereditary abnormality
or any undesirable characteristic, or that does anything to
improve a dog's natural appearance, temperament, bite or gait. a) Even procedures which are absolutely necessary to
the health and comfort of a dog shall disqualify that dog from competition if the former had the incidental effect
of changing or even improving the dog's appearance, bite or gait.
SECTION 11. If a dog that in the opinion of the
judge menaces, threatens or exhibits any signs that it may not be safely approached by the judge or examined by the
judge in the normal manner shall be excused from the ring. When the judge excuses the dog, he shall mark the
dog excused, stating the reason in the judge's sheet A dog so excused shall not be counted as having competed. a) If the breed standard requires that a breed must
show assertiveness or the judge is not to touch the dog, this breed
will not be excused for showing their natural behavior. Handlers are
required to have complete control of their dogs at all times. If the
judge feels that the handler can not control their dog, it will be
excused from the ring.
SECTION
12. If a dog attacks any person or any other
dog in or outside the ring, the judge may disqualify the dog for the show, shows remaining that day, or shows
remaining during the cluster of shows. When the judge disqualifies the dog. he shall mark the dog
"Disqualified" stating the reason on the judge's sheet. When a dog
has been disqualified under this section, any awards at
that show shall be canceled by The American Rare Breed Association, and the dog may not again compete
unless and until a reinstatement application is filed by the owner
to The American Rare Breed Association Board of
Directors. The owner has received official notification from The American Rare Breed Association's Board of Directors
that the dog's show eligibility has been reinstated.
SECTION
13. In the opinion of the Superintendent,
Show Committee, or Show Official if a dog attacks any person or any other dog, or is a immediate danger to
exhibitors or spectators outside the ring shall be disqualified for
the show, shows remaining that day and shows remaining
during the cluster of shows. The Superintendent will fill out the appropriate form and attach such form to the
judges sheet of the breed of such dog.
SECTION
14. A dog that is lame at any show may not
compete and shall not receive any award at that show. It shall be the judge's responsibility to determine whether a
dog is lame. He shall not obtain the opinion of the show veterinarian. If in the judge's opinion a dog in the
ring is lame, he shall withhold all awards from such dog and shall excuse it from the ring. A dog so excused shall not
be counted as having competed. When a judge excuses a dog from the ring for lameness, he shall mark his sheet
"Excused lame..
SECTION
15. No dog shall be eligible to compete at
any show and no dog shall receive any award at any show in the event the natural color or shade of natural
color or the natural markings of the dog have been altered or
changed by the use of any substance for any reason. Such substances
are to be removed before the dog enters the ring.
SECTION
16. If in the judges opinion any substance
has been used to alter or change the natural color or shade of natural color or natural markings of a dog, the
judge shall withhold any and all awards from such dog, and the judge shall make a note in the judge's sheet giving his
reason for withholding such award. The handler or the owner, or both, of any dog or dogs from which any award has
been withheld for violation of this section of the rules, or any judge who shall fail to perform his duties under
this section, shall be subject to disciplinary action.
SECTION
17. Any dog whose ears have been cropped or
cut in any way shall be ineligible to compete at any show in any state where the laws prohibit the same except
subject to the provisions of such laws.
SECTION
18. No dog shall be eligible to compete at
any show, no dog shall be brought into the grounds or premises of any dog show, and any dog which may have been
brought into the grounds or premises of a dog show shall immediately be removed if it: (a) Shows clinical symptoms of distemper, infectious
hepatitis, leptospirosis or other communicable disease. (b) Is known to have been in contact with distemper,
infectious hepatitis, leptospirosis or other communicable diseases within thirty days prior to the opening of
the show, or (c) Has been kenneled within thirty days prior to
the opening of the show on premises on which there existed distemper, infectious hepatitis, leptospirosis or
other communicable disease.
SECTION 19. Only dogs that are eligible to be shown
under The American Rare Breed Association rules shall be allowed within the show precincts, except
for those dogs
that are engaged as a special attraction with American Rare Breed Association or has been approval by the show
officials, may also be present. There shall be no benching, nor offering for sale or breeding, nor any displaying of
un-entered dogs. These dogs shall be subject to all rules relating to health and veterinarians. The owners or agents
shall be responsible for the care and safety of such dogs.
SECTION 20. Any person acting in the capacity of
Superintendent, at a show, shall not exhibit, act as agent or handler at the show, and dogs owned wholly or in
part by him shall be ineligible to be entered at that show. The official veterinarian shall not exhibit, act as
agent or handler at the show, and the dogs owned wholly or in part
by him shall not be eligible to be entered at that
show.
SECTION 21. Superintendent, Show Secretary, Show
Chairman, Judges Committee Chairman can not exhibit a dog of said show of which they are involved, and all
whom have personal contact with the judges of the dog show or cluster of dog shows.
SECTION 22. No judge or any person residing in the
same household with a judge shall exhibit or act as agent or handler at a show at which he is officiating as
judge and dogs owned wholly or in part by such judge or any member of his household shall be ineligible to be entered
at such show. a) No entry shall be made at any show under a judge
of any dog which said judge or any member of his immediate family has been known to have owned, handled in the
ring more than twice, sold, held under lease or boarded within three months prior to the date of the show. b) For the purposes of this section, the members of
an immediate family are: husband, wife, father, mother, son, daughter, brother or sister.
SECTION 23. A Show Committee may decline any entries
or may remove any dog from its show for cause, but in each such instance shall file good and sufficient
reasons for so doing with the American Rare Breed Association's Director of Dog Shows.
SECTION 24. All owners or agents must be in good
standing of The American Rare Breed Association, before the entry will be accepted. a) If monies were owed to the American Rare Breed
Association, by reason of Insufficient Funds, Stop Payment, Non Signature, or Account Closed, all monies must be
paid in full, by cash, certified check or money order before entries will be accepted for a dog show. b) If owner or agent who's entry was constituted
invalid by reason of Chapter 5, Section 31a, they will become cash only basis for a period for one year, after which
date they will become eligible to participate in American Rare Breed Association shows as described in Chapter 14
Section 2.
SECTION 25. Any Kennels under official investigation
by a city, county, state or federal agency, for investigation of cruelty to animals, will be suspended from all
American Rare Breed Association dog shows, until after the investigation has been finalized, and all matters
have been satisfied by the American Rare Breed Association's Board of Directors.
CHAPTER 6 BREED STANDARDS
SECTION 1. Every dog which is present in the ring
for a class in which it is properly entered must continue tocompete in all competition in its breed or variety
for which it is entered or becomes eligible, unless it has been excused, dismissed, disqualified or found to be
ineligible under the American Rare Breed Association dog show rules and regulations.
SECTION 2. Arm Bands must be provided for
exhibitors. While in the ring, an arm band containing the catalog number of the dog being exhibited must be worn. No
badges, coats with kennel names, ribbon prizes shall be worn or displayed, nor other visible means of
identification used by an individual when exhibiting a dog in the
ring.
SECTION 3. In those breeds where certain heights
and/or weights are specified in the standard as disqualifications, or in any class the conditions of which include a
height or weight specification, the judge shall have the authority
to make a determination as to whether any dog measures or weighs
within the specified limits, provided such a determination has not been made previously during
the competition at the show. a) If, in the opinion of a competing exhibitor or
handler then in the ring, the height or weight of a dog under judgment appears not to be in accord with the breed
standard or the conditions of the class, such exhibitor may, before every dog in the class has been individually
examined and individually gaited, request that the judge make a determination as to whether the dog measures or
weighs within the specified limits, and the judge shall comply with the request, provided such a determination has not
been made previously during competition at the show. This individual can only protest up to the maximum of
three dogs per show.
SECTION 4. The American Rare Breed Association will
follow only the Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI), country of origin standards for breeds whose
heritage is from outside the United States. For breeds developed within the United States, American Rare Breed
Association's Show Committee has the right to select the standard,
to best represent the entire breed. a) For breeds, whose heritage is outside the United
States, and is not recognized by the Federation Cynologique Internationale, the American Rare Breed Association
will follow the country of origin's standard supplied by the national kennel club recognized by the Federation
Cynologique Internationale.b) Only during specialties, American Rare Breed
Association will allow that specific American breed club's standard to be used for judging, provided the standard is
provided to The American Rare Breed Association one month prior to the show date. The American Rare Breed Association feels that no
one has the right to change a standard of a breed in anyway. Only the country of origin parent
breed
club has that right
SECTION 5. In all cases, the judge shall use
equipment that meets American Rare Breed Association requirements.
SECTION 6. If the judge finds that the dog's height
or weight is in accord with the breed standard or the conditions of the class, he shall mark his judge's sheet
"Measured in or Weighed In".
SECTION 7. If the judge finds that the dog's height
is not in accord with the breed standard, he shall disqualify the dog, marking his judge's sheet "Measured out
disqualified or Weighed out disqualified". A dog that has thus been disqualified by two different judges may not again
be shown at any American Rare Breed Association Shows.
SECTION 8. If the judge finds that the dog's height
or weight is not in accordance with the conditions of the class, he shall declare the dog ineligible for the class,
marking the judge's sheet 'Measured out ineligible or Weighed out -ineligible". A dog thus declared ineligible for its
class shall be considered to have been wrongly entered and cannot be transferred to any other class at the show. a) A dog that has thus been found to be ineligible
by two different judges may not again be shown in that class. However, the owner of such a dog may enter the dog
in subsequent shows in another class, provided that he issatisfied that the dog measures within the height
limit of that class.
SECTION 9. The Show Superintendent shall be
responsible for providing suitable equipment for determining eligibility with respect to height and accurate
scales at every show.
SECTION 10. In those breeds where certain colors or
markings are specified in the standard as disqualifications, or in any class or division of a class where a certain
color, or colors or combinations of colors are required by the conditions of the class or division thereof, it
shall be the judge's responsibility to determine whether a dog is to
be disqualified or declared to be ineligible for the
class. a) If, in the opinion of the judge, the dog's color
or markings require disqualification, the judge shall disqualify the dog, making note of the fact in the judge's sheet. b) If, in the opinion of any competing exhibitor or
handler in the ring, the color or markings or combinations of colors of a dog under judgment are to disqualify
under the standard or do not meet the requirements of the class or
division thereof, such exhibitor or handler may, before every dog in
the class has been individually examined and individually gaited, request the judge to render an
opinion of the dog's color(s) and markings. Before proceeding with the judging, the judge must write his opinion
on an Judges critique form that will be supplied by the superintendent for that purpose. Such form will be
attached to the judges sheet, and shall disqualify the dog if its color or markings require disqualification under the
breed standard or shall declare the dog ineligible if the color or markings do not meet the requirements of the class
or division thereof in which the dog is competing, in either case making note of the fact in the judge's sheet. c) Any dog thus disqualified by two different judges
under the standard may not again be shown at any American Rare Breed Association dog shows. d) Any dog thus declared by the judge to be
ineligible for a class or division thereof shall be considered to
have been wrongly entered in the class and cannot be
transferred to any other class or division at that show.
SECTION 11. If a breed standard specifies that the
breed must show assertiveness, the judge will not disqualify the such dog unless, he feels that the handler of such
dog does not have complete control, causing endangerment to the judge and other exhibitors.
CHAPTER 7 CANCELLATION OF AWARDS
SECTION 1. If an ineligible dog has been entered in
any dog show or is shown in any class, or the name of theowner on the entry form is not that is not the
actual owner of the dog at the time entries closed, or if shown in a
class for which it has not been entered, or shown in a class for
which it is not eligible by virtue of age, sex or winnings, or if
its entry form is deemed invalid or unacceptable by The American
Rare Breed Association show rules and regulations, all resulting
awards shall be canceled by The American Rare Breed Association. In
computing the ranking points, such ineligible dogs, whether or not
they have received awards, shall be counted as having competed.
SECTION 2. If the catalog and/or the judge's sheet
at any show contains information contrary to that given on the entry form, the Superintendent of the show shall
correct the entry on the Judge's sheet upon request of the owner,
handler, or agent of the dog, one half an hour prior to judging.
SECTION 3. If the win of a dog is canceled by The
American Rare Breed Association the owner of the dog must return all ribbons and prizes within ten days of
receipt of the notice of the cancellation from the American Rare Breed Association. Such failure and The American
Rare Breed Association shall suspend the exhibitor so in Default from all privileges of the American Rare Breed
Association and notify the exhibitor so in default, that it has done
so, and said suspension shall continue until the Board
of Directors are notified that restitution has been made.
SECTION 4. If all awards in any of the regular
classes are canceled, the dog judged next in order of placement
shall be moved up and the award to the dog moved up shall
be counted the same as if it had been the original award. If there is no dog of record to move up, the award
shall be void.
CHAPTER 8 PROTESTS AGAINST DOGS
SECTION 1. Every exhibitor and handler shall have
the right to request, through the Superintendent, the examination, by one of the show's veterinarians, of
any dog within a show's premises which is considered to endanger the health of the other dogs in a show. The
request is to be in writing and on a form obtainable from a superintendent, whose duty will be to see that the
subject dog is promptly taken to the "Veterinarian Headquarters. by
its owner or the owner's agent. If the Veterinarian is on call, the
cost, if any, of the Veterinary services will be the responsibility
of the owner of the dog in question if the dog is proved to endanger
the health of the other dogs in the show. If the dog in
question will not endanger the other dogs in the show, the
protester(s) will be responsible for the cost of the Veterinarian
visit.
SECTION 2. A protest against a dog may be made by
any exhibitor, entrant or any member of The American Rare Breed Association. It shall be in writing, and be
lodged with the Superintendent within seven (7) days of the last day of the show cluster unless the same be made by an
agent, The American Rare Breed Association, provided ,however, that a protest calling for a decision, as
to the physical condition of a dog, which can be determined only with the advice of a veterinarian, or at the time of
showing shall be made before the closing of the show .a) No protest will be entertained unless accompanied
by a deposit of fifty ($50.00) dollars, which will be returned ifthe protest is sustained. This does not apply to
protests by an agent, The American Rare Breed Association, nor a protest made in the ring previous to the rendering
of a decision by the Judge.
SECTION 3. If a protest shall be made during the
holding of a show the show committee shall hold a meeting as soon as possible and give all parties concerned an
opportunity to be heard and shall at once render its decision. If a protest shall be made subsequent to the show it
shall be decided by the show officials within thirty (30) days of
its receipt. Five (5) days notice of the date and place
of hearing shall be given to all parties concerned. Written copiesof all decisions on protests shall be forwarded
immediately to The American Rare Breed Association's Board of Directors.
SECTION 4. on appeal to The American Rare Breed
Association's Board of Directors from a decision of a show committee where a dog has been protested may be
taken and shall be forwarded to The American Rare Breed Association within seven (7) days of the date on
which the decision was rendered together with a deposit of fifty($50.00) dollars. If the decision is sustained the
deposit shall be forfeited, but if reversed, the deposit shall be returned.
SECTION 5. Any person who is handling a competing
dog in the ring in any breed competition may then verbally protest to the judge before every dog in the class
has been individually examined and individually gaited, alleging that a dog being shown in the competition has a
condition which makes it ineligible to compete under Chapter 5,Section 15, 19, 20 and 22, of these rules, or a
condition requiring disqualification under the standard for the
breed: except that a verbal protest alleging that the
height or weight or natural color and markings of a dog requiring
its disqualification under the breed standard or a
determination of its ineligibility under the conditions of its class
must be made under Chapter 6, Section 3.
SECTION 6. When such a protest is made, it shall be
the judge's responsibility to examine the dog for the alleged condition. If, following the examination the judge
determines that disqualification is required under Chapter 5,Section 15, or under the breed standard, he shall
mark the sheet disqualified. stating the reason. If the judge finds that the protest is not sustained, he shall note on
the judge's sheet the condition protested and his findings. He shall
not obtain the opinion of the show veterinarian.
SECTION 7. If the judge determines that the dog is
ineligible to compete because of violation of Chapter 5, Section15, he shall withhold any award to the dog and mark
the judge's sheet· Ineligible to compete award withheld," stating the
reason for his decision.
SECTION 8. A dog determined by a judge to be
ineligible to compete under Chapter 6, Section 10a, unless such determination is based on the use of a substance
only for cleaning purposes, may not again be shown until an official15
record has
been made by The American Rare Breed Association of its true color
or markings. If the color and markings of the dog as recorded are such as not to
be a disqualification under the standard of its breed, the dog's show eligibility will be reinstated.
SECTION 9. Any Judge, exhibitor, owner or show
attendee may request action on the part of the Superintendent if a dog is creating a nuisance, by virtue of noise or
behavior, or is endangering the wellbeing of persons or other dogs present. The Superintendent may use his discretion
to determine if the animal is causing a disturbance. If so decided,
the Superintendent may choose to warn the owner/agent of the dog or
to expel the animal from the premises. If the latter action is
taken, the Show Committee meeting should be held to determine if any
further penalties or suspension are warranted. If a dog is expelled,
any awards won on that day prior to expulsion will not be rescinded,
but the dog may not participate in further shows in the cluster if
one is being held.
SECTION 10. Vile, offensive or threatening behavior
by an exhibitor, owner or attendee will be just cause for expulsion from the show premises at the discretion
of the Superintendent or Show Committee Chairman. If expulsion is deemed necessary, no entry fees will be
refunded, but dogs owned or exhibited by the offending party may be shown by a third party. The Show Committee
will be convened immediately to determine if further action is deemed necessary.
CHAPTER 9 CHAMPIONSHIPS AND RANKING SYSTEM
SECTION 1. Only breeds that are in full recognition
with Chapter 1, Section 1, Addendum A, are eligible for an American Rare Breed Association American
Championship of Beauty. The Board of Directors or their designee may from time to time revise or change the rules and
regulations with regard to obtaining an American Rare Breed Association Championship Certificate (s). a) Championship certificate will be recorded for the
winner of the CACUS Dog and CACUS Winners Bitch, for each breed or variety listed in Chapter 1 Section 1,
Addendum A at an American Rare Breed Association dog show approved by The American Rare Breed Association
Board of Directors.
SECTION 2. To obtain an American Rare Breed
Association Championship of Beauty established by the Board of Directors,
nine (9) Certificate of Aptitude Certificates
for Championships in the United States.
SECTION 3. A Dog must receive a excellent rating as
described on the First Place Certificate to be eligible for a CACUS. a) Dogs who received less than an excellent rating
described on the First Place Certificate, will not be allowed to go forward to winners class.
SECTION 4. A judge has the option to give or
withhold a CACUS certificate from a dog.
SECTION 5. To obtain an American Rare Breed
Association Junior Championship of Beauty established by the Board of Directors, four Certificate of Aptitude for
Championships in the United States (CAC-US) must be obtained from four different judges.
After the dog receives their Junior Championship status,
the dog must compete in the regular classes to receive
an additional five CAC-US certificates for a regular
ARBA Championship
SECTION 6. The title "A1 Champion will be awarded to
any dog who is the first of it's breed or variety of breed, to receive an Championship of Beauty of the American
Rare Breed Association.16
SECTION
7. At shows in which the CACUS classes of
certain breeds are divided into recognized varieties of those breeds as specified in Section 1 of Chapter 1 of
these Rules and Regulations, the procedure for obtaining a championship of beauty shall be the same as if each
recognized variety were a separate breed.
SECTION
8. When a dog receives four CAC-US by
four different judges, the owner must send in Twenty-Five dollars application fee to American Rare Breed Association's Recording Secretary
to receive a Junior Certificate of Championship. CAC-US won after April 30, 1994 will no longer need to send
in a copy of those CAC-US into the office.
SECTION 9A.1. After the date of notification from the American
Rare Breed Association, a dog which has received four (4) qualifying CACUS for a Junior or
nine (9) qualifying CACUS for a regular
Championship, the owner(s) must apply within (30) thirty days of the notification date for a championship
certificate. If the Owner (s) do not comply within the above stated
timeframe, one of the dog's CACUS will be revoked. The
dog then within (365) three hundred sixty five days from the date of the revocation must acquire one CACUS from
the date of the revocation. If the dog does not acquire the necessary CACUS, or the owner fails to again apply
for the championship certificate within a (30) thirty day time limit, all CACUS received by the dog will be taken
away and the dog will not be eligible to be shown at any American Rare Breed Association show.2. An appeal may be made to the American Rare Breed
Association Board of Directors. The appeal must be in written form and submitted to the Board within 30
days of the notification of revocation of the CAC-US. If the owner (s) fail to appeal , there shall be no further
right given. Effective September 1, 1994
SECTION 10. Any dog which has been awarded the title
of Champion Of Beauty may be designated as a Grand Champions after it also has been awarded the title
of Working or Field Champion, but no certificate will be awarded for a Grand Championship.
Effective September 1, 1994
SECTION 11. Any dog which has been awarded the
titles of Champion Of Beauty, Obedience Trial Champion and Working or Field Champion may be designated as a
'Supreme Grand Champion,' but no certificate will be awarded for a Supreme Grand Champion .
SECTION 12. The American Rare Breed Association's
ranking system must be listed in the premium for each show. The system must list the allocated number of points
given and to which category shall it be awarded to.
SECTION 13. The system will be calculated on an
annual basis, starting with January 1 through December 31 of each year.
SECTION 14. Dogs must at least be six months of age
to be eligible for ranking points.
SECTION 15. The ranking points will be published in
the "Rarity" every quarter and will list the following:1 ) Highest scoring, top ten all breed winners.2) Highest scoring, top five in their respective
groups winners3) Highest scoring, top three in each breed winners.
CHAPTER 10 JUDGES
SECTION 1. Any reputable person who is in good
standing with the American Rare Breed Association may apply tojudge any breed or breeds of pure bred dogs in which
in his or her opinion he or she is qualified by training and experience to pass upon.
SECTION 2. The application for licenses to judge
must be made on a form which will be supplied by the American Rare Breed Association, then approved by the Board
of Directors of the American Rare Breed Association.17
SECTION 3. No judge may act as an exhibitor, or show
official, for any show(s), or show cluster that they are judging in. a) Only in cases of extreme emergency, will a show
official will act as a judge.
SECTION 4. The Superintendent may add or subtract
the number of breeds or groups of a selected judge, but first must notify the judge. When adding a breed to a
qualified judge, the superintendent must notify the judge one hour prior to judging. a) The Superintendent must post a
Notice in a prominent place within the show grounds.
SECTION 5. In case an advertised judge finds it
impossible to finish, a substitute judge shall be selected by the Show Committee. The awards made by the regular judge
shall stand, and the substitute judge shall judge the remaining entries in the show(s).
SECTION 6. The maximum number of dogs assigned in
the breed level judging is 85 per show during a show cluster. When the day of show entries close, if the
entries under any judge exceed the above limit, the Superintendent must select some other judge or
judges to whom sufficient breed or varieties can be assigned, provided that these entries do not exceed that
judge's limit. a) The Superintendent must post a Notice in a
prominent place within the show grounds.
SECTION 7. A Judge
shall not exhibit his or take any dog belonging to
another person into the ring at any show at which he is
officiating nor pass judgment in his official capacity
upon any dog which he or she or any member of their
immediate household (as defined in Chapter 5 Section
30b) has handled in the ring more than twice during
athree month period.
SECTION 8. A judges
decision shall be final in all cases affecting prizes of
dogs. Full discretional power is given to the judge to
withhold any, or all prizes. a) After a class is
considered judged, when the judge has marked his sheet,
in accordance with these rules and regulation, it shall
not be re-judged. b) If a judge does not award, or give a
CACUS to a dog or bitch, it can not be given after the
show is over. c) If any errors have been made by the
judge in marking the judge's sheet as award made, only
he or she may correct the same but must initial any such
correction.
SECTION 9. A judge
may order any person or dog from the ring. For the
purpose of facilitating the judging, judges are required
to exclude from the rings in which they are judging all
persons except the steward and show officials and those
actually engaged in exhibiting. a) When a judge finds it necessary to excuse a person or dog from the ring under the provision of this section, that judge
shall mark the judge's sheet ~excused. and briefly describe the
reason for this action.
SECTION 10. A Judge must be supplied a judge's sheet
in which he shall mark all awards and all absent dogs. The original sheet shall only be in the custody of the
judge, steward, and superintendents. None other shall be allowed to
access them. At the conclusion of the judging, the sheet must be
signed by the judge and any changes must be initialed by him.
SECTION 11. A judges decision, as marked in the
judge's sheet, cannot be changed by him after filing, but an error appearing in the judge's sheet may be corrected by
the Show Committee Chairman after consultation with the judge.
SECTION 12. Only one judge shall officiate in each
Group Class and only one judge shall select the Best In Show.
SECTION 13. Once the premium list of a show is
published, no exhibitor, breeder, or breed club official shall have any type of communications with a judge that is
listed as judging in the said premium list, prior to judging the
show of which their breed(s) will be judging. If the show
official is notified or witnesses this offense, the said person(s)
or breed club, will be suspended, or ineligible to hold
specialties at any American Rare Breed Association shows. Further action may be by the American Rare Breed
Association's Board of Directors which could result in the suspension of the entire breed in question. a) When
a listed judge is speaking at a seminar, hosted by the American Rare Breed Association, the exhibitors, breeders and
Breed Club officials will be exempted from the rule listed in Chapter 10 Section 13, during the time of the
seminar. Effective July 1, 1994
SECTION 14. Any licensed judge with any Foreign
Kennel Club who is a member of the Federation Cynologique Internationale is licensed to
judge any American Rare Breed Association shows for those breed that he or she is licensed to
judge by their kennel club. Any American Kennel Club or the Canadian Kennel Club licensed
judge is licensed to judge any breeds at any American Rare Breed Association show.
SECTION 15. any foreign judge must have permission
in writing, from his/her Kennel Club from where he/sheobtains his/her license before he/she may judge an
American Rare Breed Association Show.
SECTION 16. Once a premium list has been posted, the
judges listed in the premium may not judge another rare breed show within one (1 ) month and/or 300 miles of
show site for breeds they are schedule to judge.
CHAPTER 1 1 CATALOG
SECTION 1. Every dog show approved by the Board of
Directors shall provide a printed catalog which will contain all information regarding preentered dogs. It will also contain the exact location of the
show, the date or dates to be held, the times of the show, a list of all officers and members of the show
committee, names and city names of the judges.
SECTION 2. Every catalog must bear the name of THE
AMERICAN RARE BREED ASSOCIATION following by the word "Presents..
SECTION 3. The catalog must be in sheet form of 5.5
x 8.5 inches in size.
SECTION 4. The catalog must contain the names and
information of all dogs entered in the show, arranged as follows: catalog number; name of dog; registration
number or litter number; date of birth; name of breeder; name of sire; name of dam; name of owner; address of owner
and if desired; show(s) of which said dog is participating. The entries shall be catalogued by groups, breeds,
variety and regular classes in the order given in Chapter 1. A space must be provided for recording, Winners Dog, Winners
Bitch, CACUS Winners Dog, CACUS Winners Bitch, Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex, Best of Winners and
Best of Breed Junior Puppy.
SECTION 5. The Schedule of ranking points governing
each breed in the show must be published in the catalog.
SECTION 6. All prizes offered in the premium list of
a show(s) or in the separate list of prizes if the condensed form of premium list is used, shall be printed in
the catalog. If there are additional prizes not listed in the
premium list, they will be in added in the catalog. Effected duly 1, 1994

Rare Breed Association will be listed as an American Champion in front of it's name, which is listed in

SECTION 8. Champion of Beauty from any country that
is a member of the Federation Cynologique Internationale, Canada or England will be listed as a Champion with
the countries abbreviation listed in front of the abbreviation.
CHAPTER 12 BENCHING DOGS
SECTION 1. At a Benched Show to which admission is
charged, every dog which is entered and present must be on its bench throughout the advertised hours of the
show's duration, except for the necessary periods when it is
actually being prepared for showing at its crate, or is being shown,
or is in the exercise ring, or is being taken to or from these
places. The advertised hours of the show's duration shall be the
hours from the scheduled start of judging to the time shown in the
premium list for the closing of the show.a) No such dog shall be in its crate during the
advertised hours of the show's duration except by written permission of the Superintendent except for a period of one
hour before the time printed in the program for the judging of its breed or variety and, if it becomes eligible for its
Group or for Best of Show, for a period of one hour before the time printed in the program for the judging of such
competition.
SECTION 2. The provisions of Section 1 also apply to
a dogs under 2 months of age except that it need not be benched until after the judging of the breed classes
for which it is entered or becomes eligible and it may be in its crate until the judging of those classes.
SECTION 3. Failure to comply with these rules may
cause cancellation of the dog's winnings, and subject the owner. handler, to a fine and suspension of
privileges.
SECTION 4. No signs shall be displayed on a bench
except those approved by the Superintendent prior to one hour before the starting time of the show or first show
during a cluster of shows.
CHAPTER 13 STEWARDS
SECTION 1. The Show Chairman shall appoint a chief
steward well in advance of the date of their show whose duty it will be to invite a sufficient number of
experienced persons to act as stewards in the judging rings on the
day of the show. No person should be asked to serve as a
steward whose judging or handling privileges are suspended or whose superintending privileges have been revoked.
The chief steward should, confirm in writing, to each person who accepts an invitation to steward, the date and
location of the show, the time at which they are to report for duty,
and their particular ring assignment.
SECTION 2. In preparing the schedule of ring
assignments, the Chief Steward and other club officials should keep in mind that no person should serve as steward with
a judge under whom he has an entry, or under whom, in the course of the day's judging, such entry may become
eligible to compete. If it becomes necessary during the show to resign stewarding assignments, care should be taken
to see that a person is not assigned to serve as steward with a judge if there is any possibility that the judge,
later in the show, will be passing upon an entry of the steward.
SECTION 3. Persons should be selected who are
familiar with judging procedure, breed classifications and rules. It should be borne in mind that a good steward makes
the work of judging easier by relieving the judge of necessary detail; by assembling classes promptly, and being
able to keep the judging program on schedule and eliminate to a large extent, delays between classes.
SECTION 4 Each dog 6 months or older, must be
registered with either a national breed club or an international breed club within 18 months of age. If a dog does
not have a registration number, it may obtain an American Rare Breed Association temporary show number during the
said time period. If the dog does not obtain a registered number from a national club of the United States
within the said time frame, it will not be eligible for any American Rare Breed Association shows. a) An extended grace
period may be granted by The American Rare Breed Association's Board of Directors from time to time.
SECTION 5. Each foreign dog 6 months or older, must
be registered with either a national breed club or an international breed club within 2 years of age. If a
foreign bred dog does not have a registration number by the age of 9 months, it may obtain by American Rare Breed
Association a temporary show number during the said time period. If the dog does not obtain a registration
number from a national club of the United States within the said
time frame, it will not be eligible for any American Rare Breed
Association shows. a) An extended grace period may be granted by The
American Rare Breed Association's Board of Directors from time to time.
SECTION 6. All entries must be made in US funds by
check, money order, cashier's check or cash. A worthless check is not considered proper entry fee. If a
worthless check is received, the check writer will be notified by certified mail and must make payment for check and a
processing fee by Money Order or Cashier's check within 7 to10 days of receipt of notice. If correct payment is
not received within 10 days, any award or points won by dogs entered by virtue of the worthless check, will be
forfeited, and the check writer will be immediately suspended from
participation in American Rare Breed Association sponsored events
until full payment has been made and an application to resume participation has been made
to, and approved by, the American Rare Breed Association's Board of Directors. A "Stop Payment" placed on a
check either prior to or after, participation in American Rare Breed Association sponsored shows will be treated as
a worthless check and will be treated in the same fashion.
SECTION 7. Every dog must be entered in the name of
the person who actually owned the dog at the time entries closed. The right to exhibit a dog cannot be
transferred. If an entry is made by a duly authorized agent of the
owner, the name of the actual owner must be shown on the entry form.
If a dog is owned by an association, the name of the
association and a list of its officers must be shown on the entry
form.
SECTION 8. To be acceptable, an entry must be
submitted with the required entry fee, on an official American Rare Breed Association entry form, signed by the owner or
his duly authorized agent, and must include all of the following information: name of the show; date of the
show; breed; variety, if any; sex; full description of the class or classes in which entered; date of birth; full name
of dog; individual registration number or litter number; where dog was whelped; agent, if any; and the name and address
of the actual owner of the dog.
SECTION 9. No entry may be accepted unless it is
received by the Superintendent of the American Rare Breed Association who's address is published in the
premium list to receive entries prior to the closing date as
published inthe premium list, or in the case of a limited entry
prior to the time the limit is reached. All the requirements of the foregoing paragraph and all other specific
requirements printed in the premium list must be met before an entry
can be considered acceptable.
SECTION 10. No entry shall be made and no entry shall
be accepted by a Superintendent which specifies any condition as to its acceptance. These Rules and Regulations may be amended and
updated from time to time by the President of ARBA, or the Show Director as they see fit for the good of the
