Ireland: Jedward Twins bid for Eurovision

"The Eurovision Factor" would be the best way to describe the start of the new decade of Europe's favourite music show. After Lena's victory at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, a new trend was set all across the continent for X-factor alike national selections. Ireland is no exception as the first act bidding to represent Eire was announced moments ago by The Herald newspaper and we are talking about the former X-factor stars, The Jedward Twins.

As esctoday.com has previously announced, Ireland is going to change the format of their national selection in order to increase their chances for winning the Eurovision Song Contest. Five professionals from the music industry will mentor five different acts who will fight for the lucky ticket with the destination Düsseldorf.

"It's all being kept very hush hush right now, but Jedward are definitely going for it, and a real threat to win. Louis Walsh was very involved with Eurovision up until a few years ago, so I'm sure he'd be happy to see them represent Ireland. I'm sure the juries won't vote for them, but the public will definitely be pulling for them. All the kids watching the Late Late Show that night will be." , are the words given by a insider of The Herald newspaper.

The Jedward Twins have risen to fame since appearing as John & Edward on the sixth series of The X-Factor. Their biggest success is the release of their first single Under pressure (Ice ice baby) which peaked the 1st spot of the Irish music charts.

They really cannot sing live at all tbh.
But they are so popular espically with teenage girls here.
So if they're in the National Final they will most definitely win it .

For all those in other countries who don't know them:
They have done tv adds for Nintendo DS worth €300,000.
And other ones for Irish tourism in the United Kingdom.
fast food chain Abrakebabra in Ireland. Shake 'n' Vac brand and Rowntree's Randoms.

They have had a number one album and single in Ireland .

A sold out tour around Ireland for 50,000 people.
And are on every tv show .

Let's hope they don't get through eeek.
But good luck to them they're so stupid/funny.

Jedward are nothing but a joke (yes they are coining it in but who needs talent these days to do that?) We have already sent Dustin as our novelty act and must never, repeat NEVER go down that ridiculous route again.

Nonono.. not those amateurs! :S

I think it should be about being in tune. Who wants to hear bad notes and screeches for 3 hours? :P

As much as I don't like them they could do well for Ireland
Eurovision is not just about being in tune

x factor gave us leona lewis , she is an incredible singer

Oh dear, this worries me. I HATE Simon Coweel and I HATE the x factor, the show deserves the negative image eurovision has. One of the many reasons I hate it is they bring us this ort o thing, so much undesereved attention.

I just hope somthing scares them away and puts them off. I think they will get in the bottom five of the semi (especally i the UK cannot vote for them!), and that would kill their career- RTE wil have wasted so much money!

They don't have a milligram of talent between them.

Well said, Seamus. The problem is that until one country fails badly with someone who has been chosen by one of these ghastly shows, we will have to endure acts like the Jedward Twins.

They will represent Ireland over my dead body. They don't have a milligram of talent between them.

Oh dear... I've just checked them online... uninteresting to say the least. Oh well, we knew that this was coming after Lena's success. Good luck.

Poor Ireland. Who on earth thought this would be a good idea?

As long as we don't get Wagner representing the UK, I suppose I can live with it.

if ireland sends these two non entities they would really have no chance of making the final. as we saw on xfactor they really cant sing at all, it would be just too silly and desperate

Jedward? WTF!!!!!

Is this what the sacrifice of 1916 was for? :O

I met Jedward earlier this year. two of the nicest lads you could wish to meet even if somewhat eccentric. I think they woul d try really hard and they have 5 months to improve their vocals

:O Oh Lord!! please tell me this is a joke! :S I remember them on X Factor lol!! Funny little characters who obviously can't sing to save their lives :P

At least they have to sing an original song this time and I pray it will be million times better than that other thing they did. :S I hope they find some better ones among the remaining 4.
