This will surprise only about three people, but since those three people visit our blog and harass us on Twitter, the The Dallas Observer’s ‘Unfair Park’ blog reports that The Good Guys will not return for a second season.
Fox Television Studios confirmed to Unfair Park that the show won’t return, but would not comment further.
Note, that’s the studio, not the FOX broadcast network, but if the studio says there will be no more, there will be no more.
Unfair Park dug into it after being alerted by Janis Burklund, the head of the Dallas Film Commission. Burklund said she’d received the heads up from a high ranking exectuvive at the studio
Given its Friday ratings, the cancellation wasn’t ever really in doubt, but after losing to the CW on Friday by 30% with adults 18-49 with a 0.7 rating for its finale, only a few lost souls believed in miracles.
Thanks to alert reader Derek P. for the link.
Who’s delusional now?
I watched an episode, it was quite fun to watch too bad it flopped. But I was really surprised that some people who read this site was still hoping for a surprise renewal, it just got 0.7, even the CW would cancel a show with that rating
Wait, What? I thought this show was a ratings phenomenon! How could FOX do this?! I’ll never watch them again!
I case you can’t tell, this post is dripping in sarcasm. The Good Guys was DOA 15 minutes into its first broadcast back in May.
Fans should be happy all episodes aired.
When are Saturday repeats starting?
Moonchild
They start on New Years Day.
wow, nice, i posted in the wrong page, oh well, here i go again
The Good Guys was a great show, thanks for the laughs and the good times…at least there wasn’t a cliffhanger and we got to see at least, part of Savage & Stark…..and that last scene, awesome.
Also: like all great delusional people, i will still keep myself mentally prepared for a 2nd season of both The Good Guys and Firefly.
No!!!! This was my favorite show. Even though I knew it was most likely coming based on reading this site for the past few weeks, it still sucks.
Does everyone really just want to watch reality tv shows, vampire dramas, and an endless number of Jerry Bruckheimer crap shows?
o well I knew it wouldnt be coming back but it was fun while it lasted.
Tim: If it makes you feel any better, Jerry Bruckheimer Productions is having a bad run recently with The Forgotten, Miami Medical, Chase and The Whole Truth all in the cancellation bin.
Good Guys… Lone Star… and the Cancellation Bear has all but caught Chase… does the television viewing public have something against the state of Texas this year?
Bad year for Texas-shot shows: The Good Guys, Lonestar, My Generation, Chase…
This was really no surprise, it was just the matter of time.
@Nightstar
That’ll teach me not to refresh!
Fun show, but it got awful ratings, even back in the summer. Glad FOX let it last as long as it did.
@SJ & Nightstar
FNL doesn’t quite fit as a cancellation, but it’s another Texas show that’s ending this year.
@Julia, SJ
Forgot about FNL and My Generation… wow. Four Texas-based shows are or will be canceled and a fifth one ending its run. Apparently not the year to be basing a television show in Texas.
FOX is helping me free up my DVR for next year.
I really liked this show and thought it would get better. To bad it won’t have the chance.
This was a very entertaining show…I look forward to adding a bunch of name guest stars and getting a Good Guys movie in theaters August 2012. It’s my Festivus wish.
Well, if youre going to fail, might as well do so spectacularly. At least it never gave us false hope by being on the bubble and making its chances a toss-up. I watch way too much TV…so this season is helping to break my addiction by cancelling 6 of my shows so far, with another 5 in ratings danger. :sigh:
