On December 15 Krzysztof Jabłoński will give a piano recital in Venice's Teatro La Fenice (Campo San Fantin 1965, at 20:00). The programme comprises works of Chopin, including Preludes and Ballade in G Minor.
The painting which surfaced at the art auction in Hamburg in the end of November is the authentic work of Aleksander Gierymski "Jewish Women with Oranges", announced Jacek Miler, the director of the Department of Cultural Heritage from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage on December 9.
World famous Swiss architect Peter Zumthor is working on renovation of the former synagogue in Kielce, southern Poland. The building will house a place for meetings and prayer for Jews visiting the city, a library, a reading-room and a theatre. A paradise garden of the hortus clausus type is planned next to the building.
Nominations for this year's European Poet of Freedom Award were announced on October 29 in Warsaw. The eight nominess: Luljeta Lleshanaku (Albania), Petr Halmay (Czech Republic), Pablo Garcia Casado (Spain), Durs Grünbein (Germany), Kristin Berget (Norway), Sehiy Zhadan (Ukraine), Tozan Alkan (Ukraine) and Ryszard Krynicki (Poland).
