Chargé d’Affaires

Christopher Sandrolini, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i.

Mr. Christopher Sandrolini assumed the role of Chargé d'Affaires ad interim at the U.S. Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean on June 19, 2011.  He is a career member of the U.S. Foreign Service, and has over 25 years experience with the U.S. Department of State.

 Mr. Sandrolini most recently served as a Senior Advisor in the State Department's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).  From 2008-2010,  Mr. Sandrolini served as the INL Director at the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem, managing a large new program to strengthen the Rule of Law in the West Bank and build Palestinian law enforcement capacity.  From 2005-2008 he was Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See in Rome, serving for extended periods as Chargé d'Affaires.  From 1999-2002, he was Principal Officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Calcutta.  He has also served overseas in Bratislava, New Delhi, and Santo Domingo.

 

Mr. Sandrolini has served in Washington, DC in a variety of capacities in INL and other State Department's bureaus, including the Operations Center; Oceans, Environment, and Science; South Asian Affairs; Western Hemisphere Affairs; and as Executive Exchange Fellow with US West. 

 

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Mr. Sandrolini holds a BA in Humanities from the University of Chicago, and an MA in International Economics and Latin American Studies from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.  He speaks Italian and Spanish reasonably well, and has also studied French and Czech.
