History
Cofina started in 1995 as a holding grouping several businesses - the group had stakes in pulp and forest, steel, and media.
In 2005 the industrial assets were spin off and grouped into a new company (Altri) with Cofina focusing sole in the media sector.

- 1995: started with 5M€ share capital
- 1999: acquisition of Investec (media holding)
- 2000: acquisition of “Correio da Manhã” (daily newspaper)
- 2002: acquisition of “TV Guia” (TV magazine)
- 2004: launching of “Sábado” (newsmagazine)
- 2006: acquisition of “Destak” (free daily newspaper)
- 2007: launching of “Destak São Paulo” (free daily newspaper in São Paulo, Brazil)
- 2009: aquisition of the Portuguese edition of "Metro" (free daily newspaper)
- 2009: launching of “Destak Rio de Janeiro” (free daily newspaper in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
- 2010: launching of “Destak Brasília” (free daily newspaper in Basília, Brazil)
