Just when you thought those folks in Hollywood couldn’t get any dumber, they go and do something like this … and totally redeem themselves! Yes, dumb-comedy fans, EW has confirmed that Peter and Bobby Farrelly are planning to direct a sequel to their classic, brilliantly stupid 1994 comedy Dumb & Dumber. (Deadline first reported the news.) Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels would reprise their roles as Harry and Lloyd, a couple of friends with a couple of dozen brain cells between them. (Really, how dumb would it be to try to cast anyone else?)
Sean Anders and John Morris, who wrote Carrey’s recent family film Mr. Popper’s Penguins and last year’s Hot Tub Time Machine, are writing the script, and the Farrellys are planning to start work on the film after they finish their current feature, The Three Stooges. A Dumb & Dumber prequel, Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, was released in 2003, but neither the Farrellys nor Carrey and Daniels had any involvement in it.
Good lord, the prequel was HORRENDOUS. I’m glad that, for the sequel, they’re bringing back Carrey and Daniels, and I’m glad the Farrelly’s will direct. Hopefully this won’t be a monumental suckfest like “Dumb and Dumberer” was…
This just shows how desperate Carrey, Daniels and the Farellys are for a hit. The first one was mildly amusing, but will it really be as a fun watching 50-year olds pull off the same antics? If I wanted to watch a comedy about two old idiots attempt to pull off unnecessarily stupid madcaps, I’d rent The Bucket List.
I don’t want to be cynical (who me?), but it sounds like a desperate money grab. “D&D” was pretty much horrifying the first time around, barely tolerable. This next one should be absolutely excruciating….
Carrey fans have been waiting for him to go back to slapstick, physical comedy for 15 years. It’s how he got famous and it’s what he is best at. What would you people prefer he do? Another kids movie?
Jim Carry on Oprah was 2 of the funniest hours of my life, I’m sure he can find a way to make this funny, even if the movie isn’t that great.

All of you people are incredibly stupid. Dumb and Dumber is one of the 10 funniest movies released in the last 20 years. Regardless how you feel about a sequel, at least give Dumb and Dumber it’s due. Why don’t you just go and watch your glee and modern family. You wouldn’t know funny if it came up and spit in your burger.

Jeff, you got it right! D&D is one of my all-time favorites. There are soooo many memorable lines in that movie. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels are the dynamic duo when it comes to comedy. Looking forward to seeing it in theatres.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion..that being said..i feel sorry for those that take themselves so serious that you cant sit back relax and enjoy a good humorous comedy. perhaps if you didnt like d&d you have a poor sense of humor and just didnt get it
