Fall Sports Fairing Well

Posted October 24, 2011

The Fall semester has been going very well for fall Conq sports this year.  Women's soccer has qualified for the Region VI Playoffs for the first time since 2007.  Lady Conq Lety Ibarra has been both KJCCC Player of the Week and NJCAA Player of the Week.  They will be traveling to Hutchinson today for a 4pm match.  Men's soccer has made it into the Playoffs for the second straight year.  Conq players Julio Arias and Alberto Checa have both been named KJCCC Player of the Week and Checa was also named NJCAA Player of the Week.  They will be traveling to Coffeyville tomorrow for a 4pm kickoff.  Volleyball is once again playing in the Playoffs as well.  They finish their regular season on Wednesday against Hutchinson, which will determine the Lady Conqs seeding.  The Conq football team defeated Garden City for the first time since the Reagan administration and have also qualified for the Region VI Playoffs.  The Conqs have had KJCCC Special Teams Players of the Week twice this season with Logan Stephens and Cameron Hall.  They will be going to El Dorado to play Butler on November 6.  And both women's and men's golf teams have the Conference lead going into their fall break, which will continue in the spring.  Lady Conq Jacie Scheer sits in the lead of the Conference at the break and Conq Alex Tiong is 1 1/2 points out of the lead.  Newly reinstated Cross Country has had a positive showing for their first year back.  They will compete in the Region VI/KJCCC Championships at Garden City on October 31.  All the Conq teams should feel proud of their accomplishments and we wish them luck in their continued success.
