This guide should help get you started on collecting your lore-master role-playing (non-combat) pets. If you complete the quest "A Friend of the Wild," you will receive a hare animal-friend as a reward, the title "Friend of the Wild," and a trait that will allow you to collect more role-playing pets, either by gaining the proper faction, or by getting one of several rare loot drops.
Here's how it's done:
Step 1: Talk to any lore-master trainer.
The lore-master trainer will give you a quest to talk to Radagast once you reach level 24. (You should be somewhat higher if you expect to be successful. Otherwise, you may want to take friends along to help, if you are lower than 40-ish.)
He/she tells you the following:
For instance, it is said that one of the Wizards, Radagast the Brown, resides among the Eglain in their camp near the cursed swamp of Agamaur. He is a friend of the wild and all the creatures of nature speak to him. It might be possible to gain insight into this ability from him, if you but ask him.
If you would gain such a boon, travel to the Eglain encampment, which lies in the Lone-lands, and speak to Radagast there."
Step II. Talk to Radagast:
Go to the Eglain camp just inside Agamaur in the north-east Lone-lands, and into Radagast's tower, Barad Dhorn, which you'll find just to the left as you enter the camp. This will begin the series quests below.
Friend of Hares
Friend of Turtles
Friend of Sparrows
When you have completed the series quests for Radagast, speak with him again to complete A Friend of the Wild and collect the quest rewards.
Rewards:
Tome of the Hare (summons a non-combat animal friend)
Trait: Friend of the Wild (allows the use of non-combat companions)
Title: Friend of the Wild
Step III: Collecting the Other Role-Playing Pets
You'll collect the remaining role-playing pets either by gaining the appropriate faction, or by acquiring one of the pet loot drops.
Note: You can have only one pet (combat or non-combat) out at any one time. Keep this in mind when gearing up for battles, if you happen to currently have one of your more cuddly animal friends along with you.
