Wednesday Cable Ratings: NBA Playoffs, 'Southpark,' 'Real World' Top Cable + 'Justified' Season 2 Finale & More

South Park was down 0.4 from its premiere last week to a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating, but still tops for the night in the demo outside of the two NBA Playoff games on TNT/

MTV's Real World Las Vegas was down a tenths to a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating.

Justified was steady for the fifth week in a row in its finale, and closed out its awesome season (quality, if not ratings-wise) with a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating.

Bonus, since I saw the data directly for last night: "America's all-time favorite show" according to the latest Harris poll --  all three NCIS repeats on USA scored a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating, and 3.3 million, 3.2 million and 2.6 million total viewers respectively (for 8, 9 and 10p)

Justified was amazing this year. The first season was like a way better version of a USA show as in there was a case of the week and something would happen on the side with the main story arch. This is was like an HBO show, one amazing ongoing story that somehow still managed to make each episode feel complete. Hard to explain but fun to watch.

  2. Jamie

I agree, Matt. It’s a wonderful show and was a wonderful finale. Hopefully they don’t mess it up next year, kinda worried about introducing a baby! We’ll see.

  3. I agree. This second season has been even better (the new villains are memorable) and the season finale has been as good as the first one, which I thought was one of the best episodes of all 2010.

But could you remember us which were the numbers for the 1st season finale?
I remember ratings were more or less like these (‘though it started so high), but I’d like to compare.

Thanks for your hard work, guys!

So bummed this season of Justified is over, it was one of the highlights of the entire television year for me. And there best be some Emmy nods coming its way, starting with a supporting one for the person who’s in the above picture.

No Syfy again? Hey Maybe Travis is as peed off as everyone else is at that network. I don’t blame him.

    Thanks for todays ratings Travis.
    And thankyou Robert for reporting.

    Best wishes Sirs.

I wish they were keeping Mama for Justified III, and could have lost Dickie instead. She’s a formidable bad lady, and I’ll miss her. My biggest complaint was that they had very few commercials in the first half hour, and then bombarded us in the second, every five minutes, and many, many commercials in each break. It almost completely ruined the flow of the episode for me.

I hope to heck they don’t go baby / family crazy next year. I think that Raylon/ Winona thing detracts from an otherwise outstanding show with very substantive characters.

  7. Matthew, Syfy was all repeats last night. Please check the schedule before conspiracy theorizing.

  8. Ellen

It seems the L&O: SVU repeats are doing better than NCIS (I seem to remember SVU getting a 1.0).

  9. Kathy B

Awesome season 2 for Justified. My hope for next year is a little more screen time for the other marshals (especially Tim). With so many great characters it’s hard to fit them all in.

Justified is the best show on television , the best man…anybody agree

    Justified goes in

Justified is awesome. Even better when you actually live in the real Harlan County. All those towns that they mention are real by the way. However, Bennett is not a town. And, it is true that the only place to get a drink in Harlan County is Cumberland.

  15. sam

Justified is the best show on TV and the season 2 finale was fantastic. The ratings have been decent this season–FX does not do much promotion, so it is great word of mouth that brings in viewers. Emmy nominations for the show, Timothy Olyphant and Margo Martindale would be great. And I like Raylan and Winona–they are parents in the books, so why not on the show?

  16. Matthew

Speaking of which, South Park did the best, and is likely the cheapest to make show out of everything listed.
    Kinda funny.

  17. Jeff

I agree with the praise for Justified – it’s one of my favorite shows by a wide margin. However, that being said, I was frustrated at the end of season one with the (seeming) virtual end of the Crowders, who made great adversaries. Granted, Johnny reappeared late this year, but the original cliffhanger left him wounded, perhaps mortally.

Then, this season, we were introduced to another worthy family of adversaries, but one that had never even been hinted at throughout season one. Maybe I’m being too harsh with the realities of unknown renewal prospects, etc., but for them to have the history they did with Raylan’s family and then come from nowhere this season seemed abrupt at best. Then, we leave season two with villainous family #2 reduced to one man standing. I’m afraid that the next go around will repeat the cycle.

I still thoroughly enjoyed the show and think the casting folks deserve kudos. I just thought I’d mention my one hangup.

  18. R&WrJustified

Justified really IS the best show on tv…The finale was just awesooome, with or without a baby I am going to LOVE the show just the same, specially Raylan and Wynona. I cannot wait for season three.

  19. Mikey M

I haven’t watched Real World in years but I have to say this show has become so trashy and frustrating. It seems like they want at least one closet case each year and well, everyone just keeps bed hopping.
Remember when this show used to be about getting along and trying to make friends? Now it’s about who will fight who, who will get kicked out and lots of drinking.

Kobe & Dirk and Derrick Rose all = RATINGS!
