'Papastrateios' Municipal Library

The "Papastrateios" Municipal Library was founded in 1961 by the "Papastratos" brothers, the great benefactors of Agrinio. In 1964, the library opened and for 20 years offered citizens the opportunity to read books. In 1984, the "Papastratos" brothers founded a modern cultural center next to the old building, which includes a library and an art studio.  Nowadays, the old building of the library hosts the Archeological Museum.

The valuable collection of the library includes 25.000 book volumes. Many of the books are very old and rare, while the library continues to enrich its collection. Moreover, the library features a reading room and an internet room with 6 computers for the public (3 with internet access), where citizens are able to have free access to the internet and to the library's e-catalogue. Three of the computers are designed for people with special needs (vision and kinetic disabilities) and there is also a Brielle printer and a special scanner for blind people, as well as an email account.

The library is open for all citizens and counts about 2.810 members.
