Cat Skiing / Snowmobiling

Selkirk Powder - Ride the Wild West-Side

By snowcat skiing and snowmobiling “the wild west-side” of our famously snowy ski resort, we can attest that Selkirk Powder Company, literally expands the meaning of  “the Schweitzer Difference”!
From Selkirk Powder Company's warm and comfortable lodge, situated only yards west of our Great Escape quad, licensed and certified  State of Idaho  backcountry guides lead skiers, boarders and even  non-skiers on all day snowcat skiing or  hourly snowmobile adventures in the west, north and south west facing lands directly adjacent to the resort boundary.
Cat skiing: With thousands acres filled with fresh powder the cat skiing guides will lead you endlessly into every winter aspect you've ever dreamed of; gnarly steep chutes, mellow glades and open fields, glacier-carved, cornice rimmed bowls stacked with powder pillows
The typical cat skiing day is an all-day affair starting at 8:00am and finishing about 3:00pm.  You'll meet your guide at the top of the mountain about 9am and be skiing right from there. With Selkirk's comfortable 10-passenger snowcat Boris bringing you back up you'll enjoy relaxing and eating between your 8-10 runs and achieve up to 14,000 powder filled vertical feet before being dropped back off on the summit of the resort.  Unlike a lot of “resort-based” cat operators there's no long cat ride home here, you'll be schussing Schweitzer's front-end straight back to the bar, condo or car!
Guided Snowmobile tours: For the powder hounds who want to get a snow filled fun experience off the slopes, Selkirk's snowmobile tours are the perfect choice.  SPC's sledding guides will take you touring along groomed and sometimes powder-choked logging roads either high up on the ridge tops or down deep into the valley below. With their snowmobile tours starting from 6,400' there's no problem with the amount of snow and with their expert guides leading the way you'll always be seeing and experiencing something very special. Using quiet and comfortable four-stroke sleds any level of experience with a small car will make you a champion of snowmobiling Selkirk powder.
With Selkirk Powder Company being just a seven minute chairlift ride from the village, no one will have to leave the resort to take part in some of the best snowy experiences we've ever had!
