Lucia Mazer has partnered Chicho Frumboli and  Fabián Salas and has been described as ‘'transforming"  the woman's role in tango. In May 2007 Tango Australia asked her to tell us a little about what tango means to her. She is returning to Australia in July 2009 and in Sydney will be hosted one of our newest schools, eSO eS Tango .

lucia mazer 2.jpgI started to dance tango because... I fell in love with the deep connection we can build up so quickly with a total stranger.

The greatest influences on my dancing has been... my first teacher, Alejandra Arrue who hypnotizes me with her storm-energy. Also he partners I have had and a very long research into different dances and movement techniques, working on awareness of my body.

For me tango is... impossible to describe in words, the reason that makes me be a dancer and not a writer.

My favorite orchestras are... Piazzolla, Troilo, Di Sarli, Biaggi, la Tipica Victor ....

Tango beginners need to... be very playful, trying different techniques and teachers in order to get a full vision of the tango. But above all they need to dance a lot, non-stop, flowing ‘till the dance takes them completely.

.

What I love most about teaching tango is... the magic moments where I can see inside my students as I become the key to opening them to the possibilities of this beautiful dance.

My favorite tango dancers are... those who touch my heart while dancing, Julio Balmaceda y Corina De La Rosa, Federico y Ariadna Naveira, Chicho Frumboli and many many others.

In workshops  I  focus on... being very perceptive to the groups in order to discover the best way of transmitting all that I know about tango...

While I am in Australia I would like to... have the chance to travel in the nature, meeting more about the country and the Australian original cultures.
