Guri’el (RBC) The pro-government moderate Islamist group of Ahlusuna Waljama in Somalia seized new locations from their rival group of Al Shabab, high ranking official said on Sunday.

Ahlusuna senior leader Sheikh Mohamed Yusuf Hefow said the Ahlusuna fighters liberated Waradhumale village which is 70km south east of Guri Ceel town in central Galgadud region of Somalia.

“Our forces secured today Waradhumale village from Al Shabab while no clashes occurred there and no casualties.” Sheikh Hefow confirmed RBC Radio adding that Al Shabab rebels have withdrawn from the area hours before they reached there.

Local sources told RBC Radio that convoy of Al Shabab rebels moved from Waradhumale early morning of today and reached Elbur town.

“The operations will not halt until we liberate the whole region from the extremists.” Sheikh Hefow vowed.

Tensions between the two rival groups have been on the raise in the past weeks after Al Shabab attacked last week Dhusamareb town, the stronghold of Ahlusuna.
