Mobile phone penetration reaches 120 per cent

Mobile phone penetration in the Kingdom reached 120 per cent by the end of the third quarter of 2011, according to figures issued by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC). By the end of September, there were 7.465 million mobile subscribers in Jordan, of whom 6.7 million are prepaid card users, according to figures posted on the TRC website today. Meanwhile, Internet penetration reached 45 per cent by the end of September, with 2.813 million Internet users in the country. Land telephony penetration stood at 7 per cent by the end of the third quarter of this year, with 424,470 users, the figures showed.
