Fort Benning to name Armor School classroom building for WWII Gen. Patton

FORT BENNING, Ga. — Fort Benning is naming a classroom building after one of the Army's most famous generals.

Soldiers at the Army post in Columbus plan a ceremony Wednesday to dedicate Patton Hall in honor of World War II Gen. George S. Patton.

The building is used to train officers attending the Army Armor School at Fort Benning. Patton Hall has 68,000 square feet of space, 48 classrooms and an auditorium that seats 210.

The dedication ceremony is scheduled to include remarks by Benjamin Patton, the general's grandson and author of the book "Growing Up Patton: Reflections on Heroes, History, and Family Wisdom."
