Director's Desk
The Odisha Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA) is the State Level Agency for Implementing Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), District Primary Education Programme (DPEP), National Programme for Education of Girls at Elementary Level (NPEGEL) and Kastruba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV). The Primary Objective of these schemes is to impart quality learning for eight years to all children in the age group of 6-14 years. Presently DPEP is operational only in the eight districts of the State. All districts of the State are covered under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. We have achieved tremendous progress under DPEP and SSA in the area of success, enrolment and retention. However, we have to do a lot of work in the in the area of improvement of quality of education and the learning environment. We can not improve the quality of learning without the whole hearted involvement of the parents, the teachers, the official implementing the programmes as well as the public representatives.

Hence, I seek the co-operation of the parents, the teachers, the public representatives and all the staff associated with SSA and DPEP to ensure the Universalisation of Elementary Education in Odisha.
