Antelope Lake is located on the upper Indian Creek in Plumas County, a tributary of the North Fork Feather River, 43 miles from Quincy. The lake is part of the Upper Feather River Project within the Plumas National Forest, and was constructed to provide recreation opportunities, to maintain the natural beauty of the area, and to improve fish habitat in Indian Creek by assuring a constant, year-round flow of water below Antelope Dam.

Directions: Take Arlington Road off Highway 89 (near Crescent Mills) to Taylorsville Road, continuing on Genesee Road and Indian Creek Road to Antelope Lake.

Activities: camping, picnicking, waterskiing, swimming, boating, hunting, hiking, snowmobiling, and wheelchair-accessible fishing.

More Information: Antelope Lake Recreation Area is operated by the U.S. Forest Service; Plumas National Forest; Mount Hough Ranger District; 39696 Hwy. 70; Quincy, CA 95971; (916) 283-0555 OR (530) 284-7126.

Antelope Lake's scenic beauty is enhanced by beautiful mountain ranges and forested woods. Open to fishing since 1965, the lake is stocked with rainbow and brook trout. Anglers can also catch small- and largemouth bass, and channel catfish. Fishing is usually good in Indian Creek below the spillway at Antelope Dam. Fishing and hunting are regulated by the California Department of Fish and Game.

Three family campgrounds are located along Antelope Lake's 15-mile forested shoreline at Boulder Creek, Lone Rock, and Long Point. Camping is restricted to these campgrounds within the designated boundaries of Antelope Recreation Area. All 194 campgrounds have tables, stoves, water, and toilets. Trailers up to 30 feet can be accommodated in some units. No hookups for water or waste disposal are provided. However, self-service sanitation dump sites are found near Boulder Creek and Lone Rock Campgrounds.

Camping facilities are usually open May through October, with a maximum stay of 14 days. Camping reservations can be made Monday through Wednesday, 1 (800) 416-6992.

Recreation facilities also include a three-lane boat launching ramp, three day-use fishing access sites, a day-use picnic area, and a disabled fishing access area.
