Trenton tabs former ECHL’r Joe Trotta as Assistant Coach

TRENTON, N.J. – The Trenton Titans, members of the ECHL and proud affiliate the National Hockey League’s Philadelphia Flyers, have announced that they have brought in Joe Trotta to be their new Assistant Coach.

Trotta will replace Todd Fedoruk, who helped coached the Titans in their return to the league last year.

“We are very excited to have someone with Joe’s credentials coming on board,” said Titans’ CEO Rich Lisk.  “His time the NHL will prove to be very valuable to our team and the development of our players.”

A 16-year coaching veteran, Trotta spent the last seven seasons as the Video Coordinator for the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL, and was on-staff during their 2006-07 Stanley Cup Championship run.

Said Titans’ Head Coach Vince Williams, “Joey Trotta brings a wealth of hockey knowledge that will benefit this organization, on and off the ice.”

Trotta has ties to the ECHL as an assistant coach for the Columbus Chill and Peoria Rivermen (which became an AHL member in 2005-06). He has also been on the staff of the Indianapolis Ice (IHL/CHL) and has worked with former AHL Coaches of the Year Bruce Cassidy (Grand Rapids) and Don Granato (Worcester)

The Trenton Titans returned in the 2011-12 hockey season after a five year hiatus and boasted a 26.1% increase over the previous year, the largest of any team in the 20-team ECHL.  Opening Night for the 2012-13 season is October 12 at home against the Greenville Road Warriors.
