- All PlayStation Plus members will be able to download the Beta software from PSN. If you have opted in for auto-download direct to your console, the Beta will be waiting for you later today on the XMB under the “Games” tab. Just click it to instantly boot up and get to the action!
- If you have a PlayStation Plus 30-day trial promo code from the God of War: Saga Collection or a contest prize, redeem it today. You will have instant access to the Beta software — as well as all the other benefits of being a Plus member — for 30 days.

BEGIN A WARRIOR, RISE A CHAMPION
Our Multiplayer Beta is a taste of the full-game experience, here’s what you’ll see featured:
- God Allegiances: Zeus and Ares (2 of 4)
- Modes: 8-player – Team Favor of the Gods or Capture The Flag, 4-player – Free For All
Favor of the Gods (Deathmatch)
- Maps: Desert of Lost Souls (large map) & Forum of Hercules (arena)
- Vast amount of weapons, armors, magic, relics, and God items to customize and earn
- Ascend to Level 30 – can you do it during the short Beta period?!
- VoIP – bust out those headphones and mics, team strategies are crucial (especially in CTF)
This being God of War, one does not simply walk into the Ascension Multiplayer Beta and think it ends there. Here are a few things not in the Beta that will be in the final game March 12th:
- God Allegiances Hades and Poseidon
- Third In-Game Weapon Class – To Be Announced Soon
- More Large and Small maps created from signature God of War locations
- Ability to customize your Warrior as you unlock all the weapons, magics, armors, relics, and God items from the four allegiances — and level them up!
- Team Up With Friends – this is a heavy team-multiplayer game, you will have such abilities to join your friends and dominate the competition. More on this closer to launch.
- An unannounced fourth multiplayer mode. We don’t screw around here (well, we do have fun)!

I have zero interest in most MP games and I won’t be downloading this, although I have been a big GoW fan and might get the game for the SP if it’s good enough.

Glad to have a chance to finally play the MP on this, as it is going to make or break the game for me.
I was originally upset that a game like God Of War had to join the “gotta have multiplayer” ranks like so many others have been doing…so this will be a good chance for me to see if it feels like a not needed add-on or if it brings something substancial to the title.
On a side note…I hope none of the trophies are associated with the multiplayer, unless they are very reasonable.

And since you’re a Plus subscriber, do please give the Beta a shot! The more die-hard series fans try it out and hopefully share their impressions, the better the final experience will be for all when the game ultimately launches.

My main concern is the single player experience, and I hope it’s not going to suffer because of all the effort behind multiplayer.

I was going to say this to you yesterday too, but you wouldn’t have seen that reply, but you’ll probably see it here. When it comes to gaming, “Beta” is a term refering to a test of the online portion of a game. You wouldn’t have a “beta” of a single player portion of a game……that would be a demo, you can rest assured that a regular demo of this game will come out eventually. While single player portions of games are not yet done they are usually refered to as Alpha or pre-Alpha. VERY few developers release Alpha/pre-alpha stuff to the public. Typically only when they are community projects, like Project Cars for example. FF14 called theirs an Alpha for a while, but that was really a beta.

I thoroughly enjoyed all of them….my main concern is that graphically the Ascension demo seems dull.I have the single player demo and it just feels like a step backwards from gow3. I am hoping that the demo is prealpha and it looks a ton better given that this is old tech. The sound effects and the use of surround placement seems to have improved, but graphically Kratos looks outta shape and dull when compared to gow3.

Looking at the dramatic improvements from demo to final build for God of War III certainly speaks to your concerns, but don’t forget: Ascension is a prequel story. This is a different Kratos than fans are used to from the other chapters in his saga.
One of the key reasons series devotees will want to check out the game — apart from all of the extensive ways in which gameplay has been tightened up and expanded — is because they’ll get a chance to see a new side of one of the most recognizable characters in gaming.
