Massive London march against austerity

Amid a din of whistles and klaxons, and bearing banners emblazoned with "No cuts" and "Austerity is failing," thousands of protesters marched past London's landmarks Saturday in a show of popular anger over government cutbacks.

"I don't like the government's policy, I don't think it works and I think the most vulnerable people suffer - that's why I'm here," said one woman on the march.

The planned cuts to services and payments that help the sick and disabled are "shameful," she said.

Culminating in a mass rally in Hyde Park, the protest, staged by unions representing public sector workers and others, reflects a rising tide of discontent among many over the austerity measures brought in or proposed by the coalition government.

30% more people are on welfare from four years ago but you azz clowns on here seem to think that's just fine obviously by the stupid comments yesterday. George Washington is rolling in his grave from the dependence obomba wants to put us all on. 50% of all Americans are now dependent on the govt teet. Just sad that people ignore this just to keep a absolute political failure in office. Ignorance must be bliss in lala land...

You can be just about assured if the republicans take the reins in November, the measures that are being introduced in England are going to be the same here. There will be plenty of suffering to go around amongst our own people if these services get cut. Due to the practices of the prior administration , too many people were forced into this situation. These services are needed more than ever at this time. Most of these people are receiving assistance because they HAVE to, not because they WANT to.

And I also remember the socialist saying he was going to cut the deficit in half while infact he has nearly doubled it. Don't forget that...

    Hi, bobcat.
I think there is a great misunderstanding in this country that those people who take state assistance are not doing it out of necessity.
Yes, there are those that will milk the system, but, using jay jay's numbers, only about 4-7% of the population are guilty of doing so...
I realize that the numbers are bad, but blaming one man for it, when it was a decade in the making, just shows how little in touch people are...
Does any one remember Mittens in an interview saying President Obama's policies were failing EIGHT DAYS after his inauguration?
    I do.
Such is the mindset of the people who publicly stated the day he was elected that they would make SURE he failed.
    Not yet, Mittens.
    Not yet.

"With this successful move to stop Sting from holding the concert at SM MOA Arena, and referring to the venue as an 'oppressor,' it is now looking more like the court battle has extended from saving trees, to ruining a corporate giant's reputation completely," the arena said in its statement. get it?

If Romney & his plutocratic policies make it to the White House, remember this protest, because we'll be seeing the same here! We (& many other nations) fought long & hard to end oligarchy, 100 years ago when children had to work or become petty criminals, adults worked everyday 16-18 hrs, had no job security, forget safe work environment& there were a few thousand rich families who controlled the masses! It was just rich & poor then, is that what we want to go back to? This is a Democracy, not a Plutocracy & We, The People need to tell Washington to remember that!!

Leave it to the socialist liberal bloggers banasy bobcat and chrissy to believe Obamas fairy tale. Voting for Romney is the only way to turn this around in the formerly great US of A.
