Client reports unable to send an email. Error message will be “None of your email accounts can send to this recipient”. The address may have been copied from elsewhere and pasted, it may not.
There will be an Exchange infrastructure, but no sites sending policies will be in place.
Open the email and view the contact. The contact will likely have a 'type' of MAILTO or something else. It should be SMTP
You can modify it by clicking the 'Internet Type' button.
This is likely more prevalent with older versions of Outlook. I cannot identify the same location in OL2010.
A user with Outlook 2007 is receiving forwarded emails that change all the sender's addresses to user@company.com [Mailto: user@company.com]. When trying to click on the link, the urlMailTo: is not working correctly - it formats the cached address book entry (nk2) as above: Mailto. You can change it in the same way. However, it's annoying to have to do this repeatedly. I've found a solution for one of my clients:
