Pitch Perfect helmer Jason Moore will direct ABC’s single-camera comedy pilot Pulling, based on the praised 2006 British series. Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky wrote the adaptation, produced by ABC Studios and Kapital Entertainment. Sharon Horgan and Dennis Kelly, creators of the original series, executive produce with Eisenberg, Stupnitsky and Kaplan. Pulling revolves around three dysfunctional women in their 30s living their lives the way they want, even if society tells them they should have it all figured out by this point. This is Moore’s second ABC/ABC Studios comedy pilot this season — he also directed Trophy Wife starring Malin Akerman. On the feature side, Moore is next set to direct the new Tina Fey comedy The Nest for Universal, following the success of his feature directorial debut with Pitch Perfect, which cost $17 million and went on to gross more than $108 million worldwide. WME-repped Moore is best known for his extensive Broadway work, having directed such stage hits as Shrek The Musical, Avenue Q, and Steel Magnolias, as well as Jerry Springer: The Opera At Carnegie Hall. He is currently working on Tales Of The City, which has music from the Scissor Sisters and opens on Broadway in 2014.

Former Fringe director/producer Brad Anderson is reuniting with the series’ co-creator/executive producer J.J. Abrams and executive producer/showrunner J.H. Wyman. Anderson has come on board to direct the new Abrams/Wyman sci-fi drama pilot for Fox. It is set in the near future when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. Warner Bros. TV and Bad Robot are producing. In addition to Fringe, where he directed 12 episodes, Anderson has helmed episodes of other Bad Robot series, including Person Of Interest, Alcatraz and Undercovers. Last season, he directed the NBC drama pilot Midnight Sun. On the feature side, he helmed the upcoming Halle Berry thriller The Call.

Fred Savage is set to direct the single-camera  CBS/Sony TV comedy pilot The McCarthys. Written by Brian Gallivan, it revolves around an Irish-Catholic, sports-crazed Boston clan and the gay son whose greatest sin is not his sexuality but his desire to spend less time with his family. Will Gluck executive produces and Gallivan and Olive Bridge’s Richie Schwartz co-executive produce. Savage recently directed episodes of Modern Family and 2 Broke Girls.

David Wain (Role Models, Wonderlust) has signed on to direct the NBC/Sony TV single-camera pilot Brenda Forever, a high-concept comedy written on spec by Andrew Leeds and David Lampson and starring Ellie Kemper. In it, stories from Brenda Miller’s past and present are interwoven to give a unique portrait of how a chubby, awkward, but incredibly confident 13-year-old grew up to be a 31-year-old woman who still marches to the beat of her own drum.

Thomas Schlamme has come on board to direct and executive produce ABC’s legal drama pilot Doubt, from House creator David Shore and Sony TV. It centers on a former cop who’s now a cunning, but charming low-rent lawyer who uses his street smarts to work the system for his clients while battling his own demons and wooing his ex-wife. The West Wing alum Schlamme directed the NBC/Sony Western drama pilot The Frontier last season and Pan Am the year before.
