Description

  • Installation of an improved filter and drainage system on the junction between the concrete spillway and southern embankment.
  • Construction of a concrete buttress on the southern training wall.
  • Possible modifications to improve the abilility of the dam to manage extreme floods.

Stages

  • Stage 1 - Install filter and drainage system at the junction between the concrete spillway section and southern embankment (completed August 2011).
  • Stage 2 - Construct mass concrete buttress at the southern training wall.
  • Stage 3 - Additional flood security works.

Updates

  • 2012 - Flood Security Investigations - The hydrology investigations were completed in December 2010, with the detailed investigations and upgrade option refinement for stage three continuing. Concept and detailed design phases are to commence.
  • 2011 November - The contract for construction of stage two has been awarded to McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd.  Construction is scheduled to commence.
  • 2011 August - The contractor for the stage one project won a NSW construction industry award for work on the project.
  • 2011 August - Filter and drainage works at the spillway southern junction, constructed by Advanced Foundation Solutions (Aust) Pty Ltd was completed.
