Bingu wa Mutharika is dead

LILONGWE (Malawi Democrat)- Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika has died after doctors at Kamuzu
Central Hospital failed to resuscitate him when he suffered a cardiac arrest earlier in the day.

The 78-year-old President was taken to the hospital in the capital Thursday morning after he reportedly collapsed.

“The President has died,” said a top government official who declined to be named.

First Lady Callista and three of Mutharika’s four children were at the hospital with the President.  Others were his brother Peter and State House Chief of Staff Edward Sawerengera.

Health Minister Jean Kalirani and Police chief Peter Mukhito were also there.

His body was being taken to South Africa  for further postmortem and preparation for burial .

The news will inevitably lead to speculation about Malawi’s political future but the Constitution says Vice President takes over until the next elections.

Wa Mutharika is a former World Bank official once heralded for his stewardship of a southern African country that is among the world’s poorest. In recent years, he has been accused of trampling on democratic rights.

He first came to power in a 2004 election, and was overwhelmingly re-elected five years later. Elections are not due again in
Malawi until 2014.

This old men of Africa should learn how important it is to invest in good hospitals in your country. Its sad that the poor tax payer pays for them to go abroad for health care. A lesson to ispiring leaders upgrade the hospitals in Malawi because when push comes to shove you will be rushed to the same delapidated hospitals. All in all this story still remains unconfirmed.

But he made us suffer terribly, people lost thier jobs and remain jobless coz of him, no forex, fuel etc. people were praying for malawi to get better so maybe this is a way of God answering our prayers. I pray for malawis economy if its true that he has died and i pray that whoever takes over makes things better for us. Jesus help our poor malawi. r.i.p bingu

At this time of grief, Malawians should come together despite what the late President did to them. In life, there is always a point to forgive and forget. Malawi as a country should make a careful and calculated choice. We have previously been fooled that educated people are good leaders. This time we need to base our choice on trust ans potential to lead. We need leaders who understand the depth of poverty in Malawi. We do not want leaders who punish poor Malawians who try to do business. We need a leader who will encourage Malawians to open up business in order to create job opportunities.

The late Bingu and his confidantes have stolen millions of money belonging to the people of Malawi and has left the country in such a mess. Can someone explain how the so called First Lady will cope, how about all their luxuries, their villas, their stolen money hidden in private accounts in Dubai and around the world, she should be jailed together with Bingu’s entire cabinet for the suffering of poor Malawians. Malawi has a shortage of fuel, sugar, forex. A force is @ work and every soul shall taste death n be punished in dis life (with stress, illness misfortunes, lack of inner peace etc.) n the here after.

If it is true, sad indeed. A loss of life is always a sad event, although we are aware that many Malawians may be relieved. Here in Zambia some haters claimed Sata was dying while Zimbos said it was uncle Bob. Like it happened here in Zambia, the state delays to announce such sudden an occurence in order to prepare a smooth transition programme in terms of security, finances, beffiting burial of a head of state, constitutional and legal matters. Just like in traditional rulers. It took a lot of time before death of a chief could be announced. I am not saying he has died my brothers and sisters. We have been told so officially. MAY GOD BLESS AND GUIDE YOU THROUGH THIS TRYING TIME. Zambian.

the death of the country’s absolute in politics is very painful, but its okay let him go in peace because everything has time. let others also show their courage in politics. Amalawi mutengerepo phunziro maka pa ntchito zabwino zimene Dr Bingu azichita, don’t just criticize a person.

Tiyeni tisangalare???? Onse munhtu adzafa. So each and everyone will stand before the Lord and be answerable to his deeds. If ndizowona kuti amwalira, his judgement day has come. But my dear Malawians, your day is also coming and you will be judged for wishing other people bad things.Gos says ‘leave vengeance unto me’ so no one has the moral right to wish someone dead.Just like God delivered the children of Israel,so shall he deliver us.But he did so because they humbled themselves and obeyed his words.Take heed !!!

If is me to say no when GOD says yes. He has his own cases to answer if any before the ALMIGHTY.

You guys, before offending Wa Mutharicas family, make sure that in the world there is no perfect person and also make sure that although he was eccentric the managed to reach the countrys destinies.
