Getting there and getting around
Walkabout Creek is located at 60 Mount Nebo Road, The Gap, 12 km from Brisbane’s city centre. A bus service from the city stops right at the door (see Translink for timetables).
Wheelchair accessibility
The Walkabout Creek Visitor Centre and the South East Queensland Wildlife Centre are both wheelchair accessible.

The Walkabout Creek Visitor Centre is located on the edge of D’Aguilar National Park in The Gap. The park’s 36,400 ha of eucalypt forest and rainforest stretch from The Gap to Lake Wivenhoe in the west, and Mount Mee in the north. No other capital city in Australia enjoys a park this large and this diverse just 12 km from the city centre. Detailed information on D’Aguilar National Park is available from the visitor centre staff and also through free D’Aguilar Range park guide brochures available over the counter.
The visitor centre also showcases the wonders of many of South East Queensland’s national parks through a virtual lookout platform that provides a spectacular panoramic viewing experience. The virtual lookout enables visitors to see the diversity of magnificent sights and landscapes in Queensland’s south-east.
The visitor centre is open 9.00 am to 4.30 pm, seven days a week, with the exception of some public holidays.

The South East Queensland Wildlife Centre is designed to present wildlife in natural exhibits by replicating actual habitats. The centre has delighted all who have visited, including school groups, families and international visitors.
South East Queensland is a biodiversity hotspot and the South East Queensland Wildlife Centre showcases some of the incredible wildlife of this region. Here visitors may see species from their own backyards and others that are rarely seen beyond the sanctuary of protected areas.
The centre is home to various reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish and mammals. It features nocturnal wildlife in a night-house and also has a walk-through aviary. The wildlife centre is one of the few wildlife displays exhibiting one of the world’s most fascinating mammals—the platypus. People come from far and wide to visit the South East Queensland Wildlife Centre for a close-up glimpse of this amazing and elusive creature. The common wombat is also part of the rarely-seen family of native animals on display at the centre.
The wildlife centre offers an opportunity for visitors to view some of the amazing animals of this region up-close, and leave with a new understanding of their role in conservation.
Ranger-guided talks and tours
The South East Queensland Wildlife Centre has daily animal feeding sessions and wildlife talks given by rangers. Please check with the Walkabout Creek Visitor Centre for current feeding times and ranger talks.
Wild Encounters is a ranger-led presentation offered every Saturday and Sunday at 1.30 pm. Participation is free with entry to the South East Queensland Wildlife Centre.

The wildlife centre is open 9.00 am to 4.30 pm, seven days a week, with the exception of some public holidays.
Admission prices for the wildlife centre are:
- adults $6.40
- concession $4.35
- school-aged children $3.10
- family pass $16.00 (a family pass includes two adults and two children)

Connect with nature—school excursions
The Connect with Nature schools program features environmental education activities run in the south-east region (including the option of a visit to the wildlife centre with some activities). The program is designed to suit the Australian school curriculum and gives students the opportunity to experience Queensland's natural environment and cultural heritage through ranger-guided activities which are engaging and inquiry based.

Walkabout Creek Conference and Wedding Centre and the Green Tree Frog Cafe
The Walkabout Creek Conference and Wedding Centre provides a unique and secluded setting for conferences, functions and weddings. Contact the Walkabout Creek Conference and Wedding Centre for more information.
Located at Walkabout Creek and open seven days a week, the Green Tree Frog Café has a menu offering a selection of sandwiches, cakes, tea and coffee. A buffet breakfast is available on Sundays—bookings recommended.
