Russ Vis spent his boyhood in Portland, Oregon, where he started wrestling with the same instructor who taught the legendary Robin Reed. By the time he got to the 1924 Olympics he had established himself as one of our top wrestlers with four straight victories at the National AAU tournament. In Paris, he came through for the gold by defeating two Finns in the last rounds. |
