When Kylie Minogue wrapped up her 2001 world tour in Sydney, Australia, she went out with an extravagant bang. A veritable army of dancers, countless costume changes (each more shimmering and slinky than the last), and elaborate stage decorations/sets make for a concert that's as theatrical as it is musical. Whether she's dressed as a tropical tourist, a futuristic flight attendant/pilot, or a lounge-y master of ceremonies, Minogue looks as great as she sounds. Minogue has expanded her vocal range and singing skills light years beyond her 1988 cover of "The Loco-Motion," which thankfully doesn't make an appearance here. Indeed, her slow-burning take on her debut album's classic "I Should Be So Lucky" shows that she's developed loads of chops and maturity in her 13-year recording career. Though her backup singers nearly steal the show on a number of songs, Minogue infuses highlights like the robotic, sleek "Can't Get You Out of My Head" and the Olivia Newton-John cover "Physical" with an almost tangible passion and fire. Minogue showers her home audience with attention and love, taking the time to bask in their applause and feedback. She gets her fans particularly excited when she mentions before "Kids" that she and her singers will handle the song just fine without collaborator Robbie Williams. Minogue gives her all throughout the evening, and her dedication and charisma make this live concert video a great treat for old and new fans alike. Die-hard fans will be thrilled with the backstage footage and promo video for "Spinning Around" available as supplemental material on the DVD.
