    GABBA

The Gabba is an icon of the Brisbane landscape and the hallowed turf is home ground for the Brisbane Heat. The 39,800 seat stadium boasts unrestricted views of the oval playing surface from all areas making it ideal to host international sporting and entertainment events.

The Brisbane Cricket Ground is known worldwide as The Gabba, the home of cricket in Queensland. While the stadium was redeveloped in the 1990s and 2000s, it has a quirky history. After all, how many grounds can boast a heritage listed drain built by convicts running underneath it!

The Gabba (which is short for Woolloongabba, the suburb it resides in) is built on an old swamp site. The  Jagera and Turrbal people of the time used it as a meeting area with the name meaning either “place of swirling water” or” fight-talk place”.
